Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

Guest Wilson

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

I was just speaking to a friend today about WoT and found out that RJ has passed. My deepest condolences to his friends and family. I only knew him from the books but from what I've seen on the website, he was a great man beyond being an author. Peace to you.

I have only just learned of this tragic turn of events. His books where a marvel to me and long ago entrenched themselves as my favorite series.

I will say little more as all I could say is to speak coldly of his books, but I will not because there is more here then the loss of a great author. But by all accounts the loss of a great human being who never gave up no matter the odds.

My deepest heartfelt condolences go to his family & friends. Your grief is shared by all who have read and been touched by his writings.

it is a creul joke that fate plays on us when he choses the greatest and most beloved of us all to tke the life of, someone loved by millions. I've almost cried several times about this after i found out... his books were truely a lone bright spot in the life of a teeager (now almost 15)and offered a magical and amazing world to escape to, a world that is believable. I hope he reconsidered about not allowing anyone else but him to finish his works... I've been making it my lifetime dream (for the past four years) that I shall become a director and get to work with RJ bringing the WoT to life... Though it is a long time (maybe forever) away, It's always been my dream, and now more than ever, to honor RJ and his work with the reverence it deserves.

I'm really sad to see him go.

"The Wheel of Time" the book really made a difference in my life, helped me. any time the world losses an artist, or anyone, is tragic, he will be missed, by those who knew him, those who only knew of his work, and all those many years from, those not even born yet who will read his work. A great man, who left a greater mark.

My thoughts and prayers to RJ's family and friends. Thank you for sharing him with us. I've known his world and characters longer then my wife and most of my friends. The Dragon will be missed but never forgotten.

I was truely speachless and dumbfounded when I read this tonight, I had no idea. Please except my deepest heart felt condolances to RJ's family, especially Harriet to whom I've come to expect to always have a page of her own. I unfortunatly have never met Mr. Jordan, but I know that I will miss him. I'm not a avid reader, but when I started reading the Wheel Of Time, the writing style made me feel like I was there in the story. I couldn't put the books down. Thank you Mr. Jordan for giving me the love of reading. You will be missed.

I'm so sorry... I'm 34 and for more than a third of my life I dreamed and improved as a man with your books, Mr. Jordan. I will never forget you in my prayers, RJ. Never.

Son just told me about this. Have been going through some tough times in the last year and the thought of what RJ was going through without giving up, gave me inspiration to not give up. Was so looking forward to the next book, was praying for his recovery and pray now that he is no longer suffering and has found peace. Gonna miss you RJ. Keep an eye out for the rest of us when we travel that road. May your family find consolation from knowing the many people you touched in this world.

Blessed be friend.

What do you say to the greatest writer who ever lived. Not being a writer but only a reader its hard to put in words what I have been feeling since hearing about the loss of a great man. Thanks Mr. Jordan, thank you for all you have written and for your examples on how to live the life of a man with faith. We love you, we will miss you dearly. God be with your family and help them through these difficult times. We miss you already.

I'm sorry to hear the news, Harriet, Wilson, everyone. . .I just got back on the blog today after not visiting in a month. What I learned was so very sad and stung my heart, but also might have been good to. God won't let his people suffer something they don't have to, but he will allow someone very special to change the lives of many people and give them strength not EVER to give up. That was the good part. I know I'm only in the 7th grade, but you've really inspired and touched me, RJ. At 123 book pages written in two years and still going strong, I think you've made an impact on me. I will finish this book, and RJ IS already on the dedication page. Thanks RJ.

Love to all!

Robert Jordan was an author that will always be remembered, so many nights I remember intoxicating myself in his literature sometimes staying late up into the night to see what would happen next even knowing how early I had to get up. It's sad to see you go RJ, but hopefully you are at rest and know how many people are still here to do their best to comfort your family and loved ones, and how many people you have made just like me continue to read and enjoy every minute of it in the process.

My sympathies go out to RJ's family and close loved ones, I pray that you can find comfort in knowing that he is in a far better place than we are now, God be with you.

For a great author I'll let another great author's work speak.

"Here at last, dear friends, on the shores of the Sea, comes the end of our fellowship in Middle-earth. Go in peace! I will not say, "Do not weep!" for not all tears are an evil."

- Gandalf, at the Grey Havens

Thank you RJ... you go into the west, but your light will never fade.

Mr. Jordan, wherever you are, thank you for sharing your talent with the world. The Wheel of Time saw me through some very dark times in my life and is largely responsible for my own fledgling writing career.

You're my hero, Mr. Jordan. God bless you.
