Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

I was on the bus when I read the news that totally struck me down. I didn't know what to do, I felt like crying. For me, it felt as a relative or someone I knew had died.

I always have the wonderful stories you have given me, and at the same time, I mourn there will not be any more. Thank you for everything!

My condolences goes out to Harriet and the family.

The Wheel Weaves as the Wheel wills. This news is indeed a tragic one, RJ was a great man, an inspiration to many of us, to other he brought hope and light where it seemed there was none left.

I wish we could all do something to support the family and friends of RJ, I send my thoughts and wishes, hoping you will overcome this tragedy.

His soul now rests in the hands of the Creator, and may the Light shine on him forever.

We all loved you,

for your work

for your fight and never giving up

for the hope and love

for the changes you brought into many of our lives.

Rest in Peace, your thread in the Pattern will not be forgiven.

Family and Friends of Robert Jordan,

I just discovered that our beloved Dragon had passed away today. I was in a bookstore, happily browsing and came upon a small monument that said "Remembering Robert Jordan". I literally felt like I was kicked in the stomach.

I discovered RJ and the Wheel of Time series during a very painful time in my life in late 2003. I devoured each and every one of the books, and EAGERLY awaited book 12. I knew that RJ was battling his own Tarmon Gai'don, but I KNEW he would be victorious. I knew it. And after all, he was.

I feel like I've lost a friend and member of my family. The world has lost one of it's literary GIANTS and master story tellers.

My heart and prayers go out to Robert's family, and to all of his fans. He will be so greatly missed.

RJ, I forgot to add that you brought so much joy and excitment back into my life; a passion that I had thought was lost. I loved your work, and you inspired me more than any other author EVER has. Tears fill my eyes as I type, yet the joy you brought me will shine brighter than the sun for all of my life. This Light shall guide me through the dark of your passing. Go with the Light, dear storyteller. You were so loved.

13 was a little young to be reading such daunting novels, but for the late Robert Jordan and the fantastical world he created with nothing more than a pen and his own imagination, lives have been changed and I have sworn to be a great writer myself one day. At his feet may be lain the hopes and dreams of a innumerable people and although he is gone, I know that he will never leave us. In our hearts and in our minds, Robert Jordan will live on. Death is inevitable...it is how we face it which makes us who we are. The end of the book is written in love. His book ended in love...A great man, a true human being, and as we all know...The wheel of time has no beginning nor end...within each of us he created A beginning...and it has made all the difference in the world to me.

I first discovered RJ in 1992 or 93 when I saw his first couple of books for the wheel of time. At that time I was forbidden to read anything relating to "new age" material, but I was curious and couldn't hold back any longer. From then on, he set the stage of what would be a long time journey with my brother and I. I was so greatly impressed with the world he could create in my mind that I recommended him to my brother who has now read the series 5 times and is on his sixth run now on The Lord of Chaos. He has trouble reading anything else because other authors just can't compare to the intricate world Jordan has created. Mr. Goodkind's novels have fallen well short of my bro's expectations. To this day, no other author has had as great an influence on my life. I pursued an education in physics largely because of the affect he's had with my imagination and it helped to know that that's what he studied while at The Citadel. I can only imagine what Harriet and the family is going through now that a man so great is changed. Of course, in the end, just before 59 years old, his pain is gone and no longer does the family have to worry, but can move on as he would have liked it. My apologies as I've just found out this news. Since my brother normally avoids bouts of pain, he's not going to take the news well, not only because the last book isn't written, but because no more books will be written that can hold a candle to this set of books. There is some solice in the fact that he was able to see a time when fantasy started to become popular at the theater. It will be a truly awesome spectacle to see his stories take life on the big screen as well. And may Stephen Spielberg step up to the plate! I speak for my brother, myself and many countless others that we loved and love Robert Jordan aka. James Oliver Rigney Jr. The light be with you James.

P.S. You guys might want to see what he's added to his latest book, because I distinctly remember him saying that he'd keep writing until they nail shut his coffin. I'm sure the fans would love to get whatever they can get at this point.

These are a saddest news there could possibly be. I'm still numb from the shock of reading this - however belated - but already tears are welling up inside of me. The Wheel of Time series wasn't only the first fantasy series I ever read, but it is also still my favourite as I've never read anything that could hold up the candle to this amazing story- The Wheel of Time has been the most influential book I've ever read, I've learned many lessons from it and have found it a source of comfort, wisdom and joy over the last decade. I am very sad that the world has lost such a gifted writer, that I along with all the other fans have lost the source of this joy and express my condolences to Mr Rigney's family who doubtlessly has lost even more. It's a sad day...

I am sorry to hear that Robert Jordan has passed away. I know it is hard on alot of people around the world. His books have touched many of us. I myself could never read more then a page or two in a book until I started reading The Eye of The World in the Wheel of Time series. It was given to me by my ex-brother-in-law who passed away two years ago Josh K. who was one of Mr. Jordans biggest fans i would say. I have also shown it to others who have passed it along also. I know we were all touched by his books and in turn by him. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Dear Harriet,

I just learned of the loss you have suffered. I am so deeply sorry, and hope the pain and grief you feel are tempered by the knowledge that you and your husband made the world a better place. I never met or knew Jim, but he has made me happy for almost two decades. The only other people I can say that about are my family and my best friends. That is where he ranked in my life. Please take care of yourself, and know that the love and affection we all felt for him is the same as we feel for you.

The gates of heaven have welcomed one of the greatest writers to have graced this planet. I am at a loss for words for there are none sufficient to express my sadness. He touched my life way back when as I picked up The Eye Of The World, started reading, and didn't put it down untill it was finished. I was as eager to get the next instalment in the series each and every time and was completely distraught that they weren't longer as I couldn't get enough. The man was a literary genious. The world he created and the characters in it touched us all deeply in a miriad of different ways. I wish I could have met him before his passing but his presence will be with us for all time through his good works. Alas, the wheel weaves as the wheel wills.

I have to add to my previous post because I want everyone to know just how intimatly RJ touched my life. When I first picked up the Eye of the World, a well used paperback given me by a friend, I was going through a divorce. It was by far the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with and I think that without RJ I may have lost my grip on sanity. Imersing myself in the Wheel helped me through by allowing me to forget for a while. I spent more time in the Three Rivers than Rand I think. Through the years there have been other times not quite so terrible that loosing myself in the Wheel helped me retain my wits. Just recently I packed up everything, shipped it to a friend and caught a bus from Michigan to Mississippi because the economy had lapsed so far that making a living up north became a problem. The trip was long on that greyhound but I never slept. I couldn't you see because I'd just purchased Kife of Dreams. I feel as though I have lost a part of my family. Indeed I have. You will be sorely missed.

This is for Harriet and all those friends and family that Robert Jordan left behind. You are in my prayers. God bless you and comfort you in this time. Robert Jordan was truly a blessing to all our lives and his wonderful books have helped me through some difficult times in my life. I was truly sad to hear of his passing, but I truly believe he is in a better place now and no longer suffering. One added note, I would like to thank Harriet and the others that you are going to try to finish his masterpiece, as it would be a shame to leave it hanging. Again God bless you all.

Robert Jordan...It's hard to face the reality he's gone.

His books enriched my life, and the lives of others.

We can rest assured that his work will continue to touch people's hearts, even in death.

At least we know we'll see him again one day.

*salutes*

Everyone who knew RJ, I'll be praying for you, as will a large portion of the Human Population, so don't feel alone. We're behind you all the way. All of us.

Goodbye, Robert.
