Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

He made me believe a man could walk through the clouds. I have no doubt that is what he is doing right now, laughing at a joke none of us know yet.

Strange. I was never relgious before. Thank you.

What a terrible shock to us all. His books allowed me to escape a miserable world of pain and fear as a young teenager, and then, later, to escape from my grief, but also in some way learn to cope with it, when I watched my mother, then my sister die. The world this fine man created has been with me for many years now. It seems so infinitely strange and wrong that this man, from whom I have taken so much comfort over the years, is no longer among us in the physical, to provide the comfort and courage his family and loved ones will need during this trying time. Please remember that his spirit will always remain alive in your hearts, as long as you love and remember him with fondness and laughter and love.

I have re-read the series with each new book. It has helped me through some seriously dark times in my life. My wife herself has had some very rough times, and the series has helped her tremendously in recovering from a year long battle/ilness herself. RJ has touched our house more than any author, and or series of books has.

There are no words that can describe my sadness. And I will continue to pray that Harriet, and Wilson, and the rest of the family behind the scenes we dont see, are able to hang in there, and know how many people truly loved his work. And in that the man behind the pen.

Thank you for a core part of who I myself am.

RJ will be missed more than I can express.

I look forward to spending some time, when my day comes, to talk with RJ. To thank him for all he has done for us.

I just made that picture of the Professor (as I like to call him for my own warped reasons) my desktop and it brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks for everything Mr Rigney.

To Harriet, Wilson and the other members of the "warrior society" that cared for our beloved author, I offer you my thanks, best wishes, condolences, and prayers for being the part of the Professor's life from which he drew his inspiration.

As an aside - I love the word inspiration. It has the meaning of breath as well as the standard meaning and when understood from the perspective of having those two ideas combined, it seems to suggest that to be inspired is as natural as breathing.

To me RJ was, is and will be an inspiration - and I'm sure it was as easy as breathing for him.

May the hand of the Creator shelter you Jim.

Darling Harriet and Wilson

I am so sorry and shocked to hear of RJ's passing. It seemed as if the big man would fight forever. It is so clear from your messages and sharing that you had such a special, close and honest relationship with an extraordinary man. A man who had enormous passion for life and the people he shared it with. My thoughts are with you. I wish you all the very best in the time to come.

Much love

Caerlie

My deepest symphaties to RJ's family.

I'm deeply saddened by his death. The Wheel of Time did influence my life in a way. Since I started reading the WOT, epic fantasy became my favourite genre and everything I read in this genre I measure against the thrill that I sense when reading the RJ books. I've always admired his intricate plots, his sense of humor and the beauty of his mind and his soul transcending through his lines.

May the Light shine upon him and may he find shelter in Creator's palm.

Dear Harriet,

I too am saddened by your husband's loss. We have faith that families are eternal, and are sealed together for time and all eternity in God's temples.

Eventually, Robert will tell us in his own words the end to his story.

With Love and regret,

Maggi

Robert Jordan was one of the most influential people in my life through his work.

I think the title "A Memory of Light" for his last book is perfect. For me RJ will always be a memory of light in a world that always seems to be cloaked in darkness.

Thanks for challenging my imagination as well. Take care.

My deepest apologies to Harriet and all his friends and family.

My namesake (in pen name only) brought us words that will never be forgotten, and neither will he.

Mr Jordan's whole work took me to unknown countries and wondrous places countless times, and it will again. And though he is now in a place more wonderful even than what he described in all his books, I hold to the belief that it is not vain to think we can glimpse some light in his words.

Thank you for showing us this, and my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

My love and blessings to Robert Jordan and his family. He created a world I looked forward to escaping to each day- a world that provided a respite from some of the darkness in this reality. I am so incredibly grateful to him for sharing his dreams with others. Although I am not a Christian, I do believe in a Creator and I do believe in Prayer. My prayers go with him as he waits in tel’aran’rhiod for the next turning of the wheel.

May you rest in piece, Robert Jordan, the world has lost a great personality in you. Wheel of Time has influenced my views on literature like no other work has ever done, and I thank you for the experience it has been to read those books. You will be missed, but I will never forget you or what you have accomplished.

My deepest condolences to Harriet and the rest of the family, my thoughts are with you in this troubling time.

My sincerest regards

To the family of Robert Jordan,

Please accept my deepest condolences. Mr. Jordan gave me like a gave many others many hours and days of joy through his Wheel of Time series and it is with much sadness that I learned of his passing. I believe very strongly in God and I also believe in the philosphy that what you give comes back to you ten fold. He has gone to a better place where his imagination is not bound by earthly limits. May he rest in peace.

I want to add my name to the list of those who were touched by his books and will dearly miss him. My deepest sympathies to all those who knew him in person and not just through his works. Hearing of his passing, I was shocked and dismayed knowing I would never read his words again, and through his words was the only contact i'd ever had with him, I can't imagine the loss those of you who were with him are going through. Know he will be missed.

My sincerest best wishes to you all,

My husband and I send our condolences to you and yours. We found your husband to be an author who could suck us and and not let go. He will be remembered every time we read his books.
