Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

Guest Wilson

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

Brother/Cousin

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

My heart goes out to the the family. Its strange for me to feel sadness when I did not know this great man personally...I have not even written on this forum or message board. My only window into his world was the blog and his books. He was the only author who I said and meant was my favorite and always will be.

Thank you for all that you have given me through you work.

May You Enjoy the Company of GOD from all of us here we will miss you and what you brought to our lives.

To Harriet, Wilson and all of RJ's family,

Please accept my sincerest and deepest sympathies on your tragic loss. We here in the online WOT forums really felt privileged that RJ shares so much of himself with us. Thank you all for allowing him the time to spend writing and then blogging for us-we are really touched that he cared enough about us to share so much of himself, and lastly his own epic battle with what amounts to a bunch of strangers online. Please know that if there is anything whatsoever we can ever do for you and yours, please don't hesitate to ask. We really feel a deep connection to you all, and hope that you can take some small solace in knowing how many lives were touched by RJ not only through his writing, but through this blog as well. His stregnth and encouragement to others throughout the fight continues to be an inspiration to us all. I hope you can find some of that strength to get you through this terribly difficult time, and feel some of the love we are sending you. Peace to you all, and again deepest condolences to you both.

It's amazing how the passing of a person of great stature affects us. We suddenly wonder how we, who seem so small in comparison to someone so large, can hope to survive or accomplish great things. Mr. Jordan will be missed greatly.

It's a strange thing to feel so much regret and sadness at the passing of someone I've never met, but his writngs touched my life and brought joy not only to me, but to thousands and thousands of others. A truly great author, with the ability to make the reader feel as though they are actually in the book - someone with that talent comes along too rarely.

I can only send my deepest condolences to the family, and offer my prayers for RJ and those he left behind.

My deepest sympathies go to Harriet, Wilson and his family. RJ will be missed, to me, one of the greatest fantasy writers of all time. The world of the wheel of time and others (conan). It will be hard to live without his books now.. A loss felt by many.

I introduced many of his books to my friends, all who came to love it.

Lots of love to RJ's family.

He was the Hemingway of the genre... that anyone is blessed with a talent to write such beautiful, perfect, flawless prose is a miracle. Even outside his overwhelming literary accomplishments, his honorable life was one even people who never met him (such as myself) bow in great respect to; a loving husband, a war hero, a scholar and a gentleman, a kind and generous soul. This is just an unfathomable and premature loss, and the giant hole he has left behind is so painful.

His work and imagination brought me and my family so many hours of pleasure. I remember when I first picked up "Eye of the World" and thought, as I still do, the dedication was the most beautiful one I'd ever read... "To Harriet, Light of my Light, Heart of my Heart, Forever"... and thinking this is one good man. My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to his wife, family and friends during this tragic and terrible time.

I simply want to pay my respects to an outstanding combat pilot and soldier (I am a soldier), a writer who I have followed for most of my life, and a man who was, obviously from reading the blog, a great family man. To Harriet and family, it may be small condolences at this time, but he was an example to alot of people in how to live. May every person be as well loved and remembered as he will be.

I don't know the words to express my condolences. I just felt that posting in tribute here was the least I could do after the immeasurable joy RJ gave to my life. As many others have stated, its amazing to feel such loss for someone you have never meant. His work touched my soul as it did many others. At least he is now at peace with G*d.

My condolences to the Rigney family. We, the fans, knew him only by his pen names and through his stories, but you knew the man. Goodbye, Robert Jordan; goodbye Mr. Rigney. May the last embrace of the mother welcome you home.

A sad day for all WoT fans. I read all his books in sequence whilst recovering from a major operation, and I just couldn't put them down, as soon as I finished one I was eager for the next - a rare event.

Sometimes the saddest things bring out the best in us and hopefully this will be so for his (extended) family and friends.

RIP

My condolences to the family and to us all. A light has left this world, and our only comfort is knowing that same light has joined another world and now shines even more brightly and clearly than it ever could in this one.

God bless you especially Harriet. Know that the love and prayers of thousands are with you during this time. Wilson, thanks for all you have done to help keep we " the masses" informed during this difficult ordeal.

Jim, thank you again so much for all you gave us during your time here. Goodbye for now, I look forward to some day meeting you.
