Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Thanks for the great times spent indulged in you book, escapism and imagination is the most wonderful gift that can be given, and RJ blew me away with both.

Everlasting life through your work, thanks for everything.

Robert:

Love you man! Your books touched my life. Actually I read the series when very sick myself from surgery as a teenager.

I am 30 now and was waiting to go back and read the whole thing when the final book was released. I have some health problems of my own and can relate to your struggle. Although I never met you I feel that I have lost a friend.

Some stories like some lives, must remain unfinished.

Although it looks like now another author will be brought in to write the ending to your book, I personally would prefer this didn't happen.

I would rather have it unfinished but remain only yours.

Have just read in the news. My deepest condolences to the family of RJ. He was one of the greatest man and one of best writers ever. I regret the fact that he was not able to finish all the great projects, he has been working on. It is a big loss. He will greatly be missed.

Sometimes it's strange how when you read a masterpiece such as WOT, you feel like the author was a good friend even though you never met the man. I don't feel like my favorite author is gone, I feel like a great friend is gone. If I, someone who never met the man, feel this way, then it must be unimaginable for his friends and family. My deepest condolences to Harriet and the rest of the family. May God watch over the family in this time of great sadness (He's already watching over Jim).

Many condolences to RJ's family. He has been my favorite author since high school and I was shocked by the news. I know many other people in my life who not only enjoyed his work, but were inspired by it.

He will be missed but never forgotten.

Robert Jordan's The Eye of the World was what hooked me into reading fantasy in the first place.

Condolences.

First and foremost our hearts and prayers go out to Harriet, Wilson and all of the Robert Jordan family. We have suffered a great loss this week and the world has lost one of is literary giants. My heart sank when I heard the news of his passing. I couldn't count all of the glorious hours spent emerged in the WoT books. His works meant so much to me that I even got my wife and children started reading them too. We know he is in heaven smiling down on us and wishing all the best for us and that we should be jealous of him because he is in such a better place now.

God Bless you all and be with you during this time.

I pray that James Oliver Rigney, Jr. knew the lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior, and now rests in peace with him. Also that the millions of fans would see that aspect of his life and be encouraged to follow in it. My deepest condolences to you family, may you find comfort in the arms of the Lord.

To all of RJ's family, friends and fans: A great man who fought a great battle has left us, but his memory will live on forever.

A talented man leaves us.

From my favorite:

We'll toss the dice however they fall,

and snuggle the girls be they short or tall,

then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

to dance with Jak o' the Shadows.

To all the family my prayers are with you.

Dragon,

Thankyou, you have helped me in ways you could never know. Many times I wished I could of written to you to say thankyou and I am shamed that only in the face of the painful news of your death I can say what is in my heart. You have shown me how to fight the good fight how to stand on my own feet and be me. Without out you I would not be here I know my fight will go on it is something I will fight until my last day but now I do it to honour your memeory and maybe from where you are you can smile down on me and give me your blessings to honour you in this way.

Until I can meet you, farewell and enjoy your well earned rest. You have fought enough.

"“The evil men do lives after them. The good is oft interred with their bones,â€. Julius Caesar

This is a lie.

The good that Robert Jordan has brought to our lives, lives on in each and EVERY one of us. Stories do not die with flesh, dreams do not end with the passing of the soul. His stories, his dreams he shared with all of us, to enrich our lives, to give us peace and joy. And so his stories are now our stories. We are now their caretakers. And as we live our lives embracing the lessons that his stories imparted and sharing these stories with others, they will become immortal and live on eternally through all the days of the world.

“The evil men do lives after them. The good is oft interred with their bones,"

Perhaps.

But not today.

Good night sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

-Troy

The world of reading became a brighter place for me when I started reading WOT in 1991. Thank-you Robert Jordan for the many years of joy you brought to me and other readers. May the wheel turn and bring you peace and joy. My deepest condolences to Harriet and your family and friends. A true Master of Fantasy has passed beyond. Robert truly revitalized a genre.
