Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

I send my sympathy to all those he left behind. I look forward to the day I will be able to listen to the stories of his new travels. I did not know him personally but through his books he was my friend, my guide, my hero. He was the one who got me interested in fantasy and interested in writing it. I will never forget him and I will never let the world forget him as long as I live. The dragon will live forever! He has touched my life and changed it....I will miss him more than words can describe. All in all, i just cant believe it......I dont want to...But...Goodbye Mr. Jordan, thank you for all your stories, thank you for everything, just thank you. I hope whereever you are at, you know that I love you and all your fans love you.

I first came to know the name "Robert Jordan" in 1991 when I chanced upon the first book. Little did I know what an impact it would make on me for the next several years.

My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and to all of us who loved his work so much.

I really am surprised, as others have said. I was just sure he would beat this thing, and I sent my prayers and thoughts full of hope.

God bless you Harriet, and know that you will see RJ when the time comes. He is free of pain, young again, and in happiness waiting to see you!

To lose the world's most brilliant and talented writer is such a tragedy. It took my breath away when I found out that the we had lost RJ, and although I only had the opportunity to meet him very briefly at a book signing, it feels terribly personal. My deepest condolences to out to all of RJ's family and friends, as well as the millions of mourning fans around the world.

His books touched so many, including myself. They helped me get through a traumatic childhood. . . they were my escape. He has touched so many lives and has made the world a brighter place.

To be honest, I was not inspired by his works, in fact I hated his writing and thought it was trash but regardless of that a person died, loved ones ache, friends and fans hope for better days and for that I am truly sorry. May goodness touch all of those who hurt.

Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. I am so sad that I can't articulate how I am really feeling. I have taken th WoT books with me on every deployment and field exercise while in the Army....man I have even had one with me on my honeymoon and at the birth of all three of my sons. Those books are like a good friend. I pray with all my being that you are in our lords embrace watching down on your family.

God Bless and thanks for everything

Rest in piece

Rest in peace, RJ. It's hard to believe that you're gone. You were such a fighter, I was always confident that you'd really stick it out for another 30 years just like you joked that you would, despite the diagnosis. At least I, and all your loved ones and fans, can take some comfort in knowing that because you were here, our lives changed for the better in some way or another. I never got the chance to talk to you in person, so I guess I have to thank you here and hope you're reading this from up in heaven, where i'm sure you're sitting right now, smiling down at all of us. I thank you for sharing your gift with the world while you were here. Thank you for the many, many memories. Thank you for your stories, which revealed a glimpse of who you were and made all of your readers feel as thought they knew you. Thank you for everything, Oliver Rigney, RJ, and Dragon. You will not be forgotten.

Today we mourn the loss of a great writer, and family man. He touched many of our lives with his tales. Rest easy in the creators embrace, and we'll see you again when the Wheel spins you out once more, but for now I will feel like a Tuatha'an always searching for the song we lost.

I had no idea just how much RJ had touched me until I heard of his passing. I've spent over half my life immersed in the world he created, and his characters are like a second family to me. RJ has left an imprint upon millions of readers that will never be erased. Thank you for everything.

I've been reading The Wheel of Time since I was 15 in 1993. This set of books and indeed the author have been my favourite fiction titles since then. I've read literature from all over various spectrums, and I've come to know RJ's world as well as parts of my real one, and love it as well as any.

I've loved the books. I would recieve a hardback in the mail from overseas (before it came out in my country) and stay up all night (after work) reading it, and then go to work the next day. I've never done that, ever.

I teach literature, and I love this series. I've even pointed my kids to WOT. Thank you Robert Jordan for giving me this world to live in, build anticipation for and visit for half my life. I've admired your wisdom from afar.

Good souls go to good places when they pass over. May God accept you to his realm with joy and the love that is your due. Be at peace.

Words simply cannot express the sorrow felt with this announcement, and I'm sure that must be multiplied a thousand-fold for Harriet and his family. My deepest condolences go out to them, and thank you RJ, for the greatest fantasy epic I have, and ever will, read. Rest in peace, Robert Jordan. The last embrace of the mother welcomes you home.
