Simon & Schuster Online is planning to release the KNIFE OF DREAMS prologue entitled "Embers Falling on Dry Grass" as an eBook. A date for the release has not been set, but the estimate is currently late June to early July of this year.

The eBook is currently set to be priced at US $3.50. Supported formats will be Adobe Reader, Microsoft Readers, eReader (Palm), and MobiPocket

The eBook prologue will also contain bonus material not found anywhere else. What this is hasn't been determined yet. In 2000, for the "Snow" prologue to WINTER'S HEART, Robert Jordan wrote a "special message" that was only included in the eBook. In 2002, for the "Glimmers of the Pattern" prologue to CROSSROADS OF TWILIGHT, Dragonmount and Wotmania.com contributed interview questions for Robert Jordan to answer.

Update (June 2):

The Simon & Schuster website now lists the prologue. Here's the pertinent info:

Embers Falling on Dry Grass: Prologue to Knife of Dreams

Scribner, July, 2005 (though we wouldn't try to interpret a release date from this)

ISBN: 0-7432-8860-2

140 pages (so it looks to be about the length of Snow and Glimmers)

No price listed yet but we know it's tentatively set at $3.50.

No cover image.

KNIFE OF DREAMS will be released in the US by Tor Books on October, and by Orbit Books in the UK on the same date.
