We got a message from Realm of Tar Valon regarding the status of their message boards today:
As you've probably noticed by now, our boards have suffered a crash. That crash has been deemed irrecoverable. Since then your Admin team has been working on new boards, and we can now, on our 5th anniversary, announce that they are ready to be populated!
I know quite a few of you are here, so I am asking you to please spread the word, we're doing our best to email people, but without

He recommended Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and most of the table had read it and agreed. He said that with writers starting out, there are two basic ways they tend to go - one is to keep writing different things like he did. The other is to work on one book, rewriting and improving it for a long time

Brandon started off by talking about how he got this job, finishing our book. If you’ve been paying attention, you already know the story, but I pulled out some quotes that I thought were entertaining.
* When discussing the book store where he found The Eye of the World. “The new books are right in the front and right there was a copy of a “VERY BIG BOOK.†I like very good books.â€
During Jordan's recent US tour, he made time to chat with Fast Forward TV, a show dedicated to science fiction and fantasy reviews that airs in parts of Virginia and Maryland. He talks quite a bit about his experience writing the books, working on the New Spring graphic novels, and his blog that we host for him. He even manages to pronounce Jason's name correctly.
You can download the interview in either Quicktime or MP3 format by going to Fast Forward's website and navigating to the Dece

This was the first Wheel of Time book signing ever to occur in Texas, and the fans were certainly excited! People began arriving before 10 AM to secure their places in line. Storm Leader Claire brought a Wheel of Time trivia quiz, crossword, and word search to keep folks entertained until the signing, scheduled for 2:00. Brandon began by telling the story of how he ended up being chosen to write the ending of The Wheel of Time. He started back in 1990, when he was 15 years old and saw a paperback of The Eye of the World on the shelf. Thinking that it was huge and had a “good page to dollar ratio†he returned to the bookstore a few days later to purchase Book One of The Wheel of Time. It was becau
Today marks the first day of our 13 Days of Christmas. Yes, I know that the "normal" 12 Days of Christmas start on Dec. 25th, but we don't do things like every one else.
Every day between now and Christmas we'll post a new desktop picture featuring one of the original 13 Forsaken. They make great desktop images.
The images were created by the Dabel Brothers, the company which produces the New Spring graphic novel. A special thanks to them for allowing us to be the exclusive provide
When we first opened the new forums (forums.dragonmount.com) we promised time to backup the your important posts on the old forums.
You'll still have the opportunity to do that - my apologies for making the transition so rapidly without giving people warning.
As soon as I am able to make the old forums public and read-only (so no new posts can go there) you will be able to get back to them and copy your old posts over. If this doesn't happen today or tomorrow (Friday) it will CERTAINLY h

The first humorous moment of the evening came when we had to call our fellow Storm Leader and Tor.com contributor, Leigh, who was conspicuously absent from the event up till that point. Brandon caught on and proceeded to make light of her unexpected absence by Twittering about it from his blackberry! Suffice it to say a slightly winded Leigh arrived shortly after.
After things wound down a b
Today is Robert Jordan's 56th birthday and he'll be celebrating it by... taking a day off from writing.
Sounds like RJ is going to party in a way that only people from South Carolina know how!
In a few weeks he's off to Turkey for a large bookfair in Istanbul. He'll be doing some public appearances and private vacationing.
Happ birthday, RJ! Have fun.

Before you get too exited though, don't expect this news to move the publication date up. Most likely Tor Books will read it over and make editorial checks. It will also give them a chance to maximize the publicity surrounding the new novel.
Up next for RJ....

If you are like most fans, you probably don't remember every tiny detail of the Wheel of Time series. For that reason, we've published a downloadable document that should bring you up to speed with where everyone is at in the story.
It's designed to remind you of where the story left off at as of the end of Crossroads of Twilight. The document is a PDF file and should print up nicely for you, in case you want to have it handy when reading Knife of Dreams.
