Dragonmount celebrates 10 years online

"Ten years, Betrayer. Ten years your foul master has wracked the world!"   DM is now 10 years old! September 19, 2008 marks the 10th year anniversary of Dragonmount.com being online. While the look of the website has changed many, many times over the last decade, the spirit of community gathered here continues to be as warm and welcoming as it was in the beginning.   It has sincerely been my pleasure over the last ten years to bring all of you the best WoT coverage possible. Storm Leader report: Denver

This is the sixth of our Storm Leader reports we'll be posting throughout the U.S. book tour for [/url]   The food was good, but the conversation was better. Some spoilers may or may not have been discussed, as we had decided as a group beforehand that we wanted to talk about TGS at the brunch, as we knew we wouldn’t be able to do that at the signing. As it happened, the majority of us had finished the book by then (courtesy of the snowstorm canceling school and work for three days), or were

More information about Robert Jordan's treatment

First of all, thank you to everyone who has repsonded to the news and blog posts in regards to Robert Jordan's announcement about his Amyloidosis diagnosis. It just proves that his readership is full of caring individuals.   I've spoken a little more with RJ about what's going on. Here's what he said: We leave for the Mayo in Rochester on 1 April, to make for an easy trip. My first appointment, for some testing, isn't until [a few days later]. I'll be there for 6 to 8 weeks, dependin

Robert Jordan Tour Report: West Chester, PA

We've received two reports so far from people who attended the book signing in West Chester, PA today. The first one came from Jennifer:     Thanks for the full report, Jennifer, and for the pictures. And kudos to whoever it was that started the happy birthday song for RJ. I wonder if our news article that reminded them, or just a very attentive fan?   The second report comes from Zach, who gave us this tidbit, and plans to send an audio clip of the event. Check back here soon to

DM Gallery quota increase

Because we have this new server that seems to be running so well, I thought it would be nice to give you guys an increase in our Community Gallery. The previous quota was 1 MB per user. That has now been increased to 10 MB per user. Plenty of room to upload a nice-sized collection of images "celebrating our community and The Wheel of Time".   Enjoy

2007 Short Story Anthology

It's that time of year again to begin accepting submissions for the Dragonmount Anthology.   Before I get into details about this one let me inform you that the first one has NOT been forgotten. We have the final formatting done and we only await cover art. Now that we have the process down, I hope that this one will not take nearly as long to get published.   Short Story Submissions should be from 7,500 to 20,000 words. Any Wheel of Time fan fiction will be rejected with out ever being

Server Upgrade Successful

Dragonmount.com has successfully been moved to a brand new server. No data was lost in this transition and (multiple) back-ups were made.   ... For those of you who are interested...   This is the first server upgrade we have had since 2002. The old server ("saidin") ran nearly non-stop, 24-7 for about 5 years. It hosted this site as well as several other smaller sites. (While I'm at it, check out www.Spectre-Movie.com)   When one of the hard drives on saidin crashed last week, I moved

Dragonmount Celebrates 7th Anniversary Online

Seven years ago today Dragonmount.com open its doors to the public. At the time we were a small site, with small ambitions. We just wanted to give people a fun place to talk about their favorite books online. Then we started growing. And growing. And growing. Now with thousands of registered members, dozens of message boards, ten Organizations, two role playing games, a comprehensive, growing fan art gallery, chapter summaries, games and more, we are still growing and still just trying to have

New FAQ from Brandon Sanderson

Brandon Sanderson updated his site today with some of his most frequently asked questions since the recent news that he would be completing A Memory of Light.   He gives a good description of what writing AMoL feels like to him.       Pretend you have purchased an expensive violin from a master craftsman. It probably wouldn't surprise you to discover that one of the craftsman's apprentices helped create that violin. The master may have had the apprentice sand, or apply varnish, or pe

Forum Policy Change

A few months back I made some changes in an attempt to eliminate spammers and for a while it seemed to work.   They're now back with a vengeance.   For this reason, we've enacted a new technical policy. Posting links on the forum has been disabled for anyone with less than 15 posts. This is something that should happen automatically and won't require any changes on behalf of the users. Once you've posted 15 times or more, you will gain the ability to post links.   Like all technical change
