Hello and welcome to White Tower at Dragonmount. My name is Elgee and I am your Division Leader. My Staff are Assistant DL Rasheta who handles Aes Sedai and Role Playing Coordination, Assistant DL Amadine who is the MoN and looks after Novices and Accepted, WhiteWolf who is Bio Checker, Taei who is the Web Mistress, and finally Muirenn who role plays the Amyrlin and Kara_J who role plays the Keeper. Hopefully everything you need is in this thread, if not feel free to PM me if anything is missing. Please note that you will be given access to our private boards only once your Bio as been approved and CC'ed, and you have done the quizzes if required.

The White Tower here at DM allows each person to have up to 3 channeling Aes Sedai, Accepted, or Novices. It doesn't matter if you are a new character or a returning character who wants a new character, you must submit a bio. All Bio's must be submitted to the following email: dmwtbios@gmail.com. Please Do Not RP any character until your Bio is Cross-Checked and before completing the Novice Quiz (1st time Novices) and submitting an Approved One Power Score. Any bio questions should be submitted to the Bio Checker. (Contact info below)

 

A few notes about WT characters:

 

The PSW is a Portal Stone world based on the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Any characters and RPs in the PSW are expected to conform to what would be plausible or a logical extrapolation, based on the WoT books. This includes the behaviour of Aes Sedai, to a lesser extent that of Accepted, and also the relationships between Novices, Accepted and Aes Sedai.

 

Obviously, character weaknesses make for more interesting RPs, and the Light knows Aes Sedai are not perfect! However, Aes Sedai make EXTREME sacrifices to gain the shawl, and only more so thereafter. They WANT to be Aes Sedai, more than anything else. Moreover, they have to have “the right stuff” in order to be allowed to go through the Arches and the Rings. Those who couldn’t “cut it”, would have been put out of the Tower and most likely joined the Kin. Anyone who has made it to a position of authority, like Sitter, Ajah Head, MoN, etc, would be especially determined, intelligent and dedicated to the Tower. Bear that in mind when you make your character's weaknesses.

 

***Please note that your Novice Quiz will be sent out when your bio is approved by the WT staff and Cross checked by a staff member of another division. The Quiz is not located anywhere other than inside our records so you won't be able to find it if you look.***

 

Until further notice the White Tower will not accept any bios that are for true born Two Rivers characters, this includes Emonds Field, Taren Ferry and the surrounding area.

 

We will accept bios that say the characters family are refugess from (insert country name) and are now resident in the above areas.

 

We are also not accepting any Wilder (ie characters with the spark inborn) bios at this time.

• This should be about 500 words.
• For novice characters, this should include any major events in the character's life prior to joining the White Tower, as well as how she found out she could learn to channel (has to be tested by an Aes Sedai, using the jewel test.)
• For fully raised characters (remember you can only make those if you already have a fully raised character), this should include a brief background of before joining the Tower, but should focus more on her history after joining the Tower.

Congratulations and welcome to N & A-hood! Once you have your Bio Approved the Bio Checker will send you the Novice Quiz to do and OP scores to break down. Once that is done, you will receive permission to RP your character and will then be under the Guidance and Administration of the Mistress of Novices, Amadine. The IC Mistresses of Novices are 2 NSW characters (1 for Traditional Novices, and 1 for Salidar Novices) played by Amadine. All Out of Character inquiries (Pranks, Requirements, etc) can be directed to the Mistress of Novices.

In other News, the Forced Aging system has been abolished and is no longer enforced. However, any Age request 150 or Higher will require a written request stating the reasons why you wish to have your Aes Sedai that age to the DL.

Further note, especially to returnees:

 

We have had quite a few returnees lately, and to avoid problems, I wish to point out certain IC behaviours and story lines which were allowed or took place in the past, but which are firmly discouraged now:

 

Novices and Accepted are not friends.

 

Aes Sedai do not befriend Novices and Accepted.

 

The only Secret Society is the Black Ajah.

But what about "character weaknesses make for more interesting RPs"? I'd like to point to this passage in particular:

 

4. Breach of conduct damages the reputation of the Tower. Therefore any character who breaks conduct guidelines in public should be prepared to have their actions viewed in a hostile light by the Tar Valon community. Punishment may be appropriate depending on the severity of the breach. Conversely, if conduct guidelines are broken in private, there is no damage to the Tower’’s reputation and thus punishment need not necessarily occur.

 

Let's say your AS character doesn't maintain the proper distance with a novice or Accepted. Word will get out, and your character will be hauled up by the appropriate authority. She'll be punished, and most certainly won't be allowed near the novices or Accepted for a very long time.

 

So in OOC terms, yes - of course you can break the IC rules. What you will have to do, though, is clear it with the appropriate ADL (MoN for novices/Accepted, AS ADL for AS) who will bring it to the DL for final approval if need be (ordinary pranks just need MoN approval). You will have to outline a plan for how she is going to be punished, or a motivation if she is not going to be caught (unlikely, but possible).

 

As an example of something like this, I'll take my own character, Zarinen. She's a Red who bonded a male channeller, and got caught. She was birched, and exiled to hard labour on a remote farm for 20 years.
