I'm in. Here are my conditions: I will do very little. I will request clarifications. I will suck hard and ruin everything. Deal? A convo with Ithi made me realise playing good doesn't matter, but playing itself can be fun. So I'm just gonna do what I can for whatever team I roll and everything else can get in the bin. I invite everyone else who is dipping out due to time commitments and burn out etc to reevaluate why they don't want to play. Likely because you feel you can't honour the game with your regular high standards? Play like crap it doesn't matter life is short vote Ed. V I B E S mafia is whatever you want it to be.

The 'berf out!' sting is actually hilarious.

Do I go back and pick through the wreckage to see just how badly I cost mafia the game? I've said it before - unexpected work and a busy life and the very poorly timed DM issues meant I was no chance of contributing in any meaningful way, but by the time that was apparent, dropping out or being replaced wouldn't have been worth the time. I would not have accepted the invite had I known the workload I was under was about to blow up. I can only apologise for derailing any ability for the game to resolve uh... Naturally I guess. When I finally got back on and posted I didn't even see that entire Turin play. Just a mess. I think my mafia career ends here, but I appreciate the chance to try again. Thanks folks.
-
Amazed to check the first post and find I'm not dead (pending night 2 resolution?) Apologies gang absent from the game entirely all game day 2. Had I known work would do what it did, I wouldn't have signed up. Gonna basically go and see what day 2 was. I'm sure the insights I return with will be absolutely mind-melting.

Still doing better than ed, though.

Just an update to let y'all know it's nearly 1am Sunday and I will not be doing anything game related tonight, apologies. And apologies generally to the players and DPR - I'm nowhere near where I want to be in terms of activity here, and that's down to two things - work forcing some stupid late nights on me out of nowhere (management change, demands, etc - I work a 9-5 and yet here I am) and just generally being overwhelmed in this game. My first game back was always going to be a lot, but I had forgotten how much work it takes to actually keep a finger on the pulse of this. I can't rely on meta, the meme posts are draining when trying to do 'work', and I swear language drift in these short ten years is enough to just have me flailing - some of the more entrenched players especially speak half english half truncated mafia shorthand, and, I can't tell anyone how to play, but from my position it's not super helpful. So I kind of suck as a player right now. Not trying to bring real life into it too much, but tbh my hunting will be nowhere near as active or on point as most others, as I unfortunately do not have the time or skills or practice to do so. I'll dump reads and point out things I find sus, but if I'm pointing at it, likely everyone else has seen it regardless. SD v Turin seems the obvious issue of the day. If there's other stuff going on I'll deal with it tomoz. I was trying to say "Please do not consider this post part of the game" I don't know how to like, ...I wouldn't hide behind inactivity as a player of any alignment, I guess is what I'm trying to get at, but then we're right back to playing the game. So maybe this is indeed a ruse. Think what you want. But I'll be back tomorrow with actual content and there's still time to build a lynch, so, until then.
-
I'll be able to dedicate some time to this tonight. I feel good about the Teph lynch, SD still seems sus but that might be old data/misinterpreted vibes. Turin vs SD has me thinking Turin town SD mafia which tracks with the vibes I've gotten til this point. But that's an interesting and good pair to pit against each other - That is of course if Darthe's claim is to be believed, which, it probably can. That slot needs attention from myself before I'm ready to lean either way, but very bold mafia moves if so. Leelou and dice - leelou was the NK? We don't have like flavour confirmation or anything RE mafia NKs vs random other murders? Dice wasn't looking great but dying holding cop and doc is... Something. And someone (SD?) asked me about dice claiming he caught a slip from someone and I have to revisit that. Until tonight xo

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

@SinisterDeath Likely nothing today. I am en route to bed so if I'm alive tomorrow I'll happily break it down. I don't think it matters for today? It feels like Teph or you or a d20. /unvote SinisterDeath /vote Teph (vote bed)

hanging around for 5 minutes in case we want a Teph train.

I needed to be out of here forever ago fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Ithi - Shaking every tree. Everyone reports this is town behaviour, I happen to think I see and like the intent behind the shaking, so I agree. I pinged a bit when I thought setup-spec chat was getting shut down - that was one of my only hooks to think about the game at that time - but I think it's just Ithi's genuine disdain for setup chat because the rest of the output says town. Gud - I think my first note is them appearing p10. Didn't love the lack of content or the reaction to Darthe's death, but they are easy to read as disingenuous. Later comes out of the woodwork to declare mild to null reads on 4 active thread participants when called out. Don't love a defense of Teph/I read Teph behaviour very different to how Gud reacted to it. p27 read feels easy to phone in. Not a great feeling from this corner. Turin - did his big dump late in the thread when my eyes have glazed. Early game I liked his side in arguments more than the others, leaning town, open to being wrong, think there are better suspects. Shad - I lean pretty strongly town. The investigative intent is good, willing to do the work, just a shame the final outcome of that work is a vote on me. I think his opinion of me probably got twisted in the presentation of my arguments. I don't think this is a grand conspiracy, just an opportunity they took. To recap the SD situation, I don't think it's that outrageous to think that, knowing they were to kill Darthe anyway, they'd see the SD-not-mentioned 'slip', and 'lightning rod' SD boots up to take advantage of that. And blah its 3am that'll do. My other words are there. Shame as mentioned for Shad to be on me because I trust the player, but he seems to clear everyone I don't like bar Teph. Maybe that's where we can come together, but that's for tomorrow. Dice - Didn't like an interaction with SD but it's conveniently behind a Drunk-posting duck blind. Not for today to decide. Leelou - Pretty town. Shad, Ithi, Leelou same sphere. Investigating when present. Asking the good stuff. Not a huge amout of contribution but the difference between this quiet account and other quiet accounts is stark. Tigs/Darthe - nothing of note from the account whatsoever but now we've got circumstances. So. Not for today. Peace - First note here mentions it was a goading entry from the sidelines "Fake fighting re mechanics" which wasn't ideal. Came of worse vs Ithi in early beefs. 3rd vote thing hah. Pretty meh reads delivered midway through the thread so not great vibes here but there are worse. Also - first note was actually a comment promising to go and hunt the ringleaders of mechanics chat. I don't think that ever happened. Heavy - I'm gonna be honest, Heavy and Peace could basically be the same person from where I sit. Both are there and type a lot of stuff and ... ok. The biggest note I have here is a conjectured mafia rollcall of Ithi, Shad, and Teph on page14. I have big town reads on Ithi and Shad, so throwing Teph on there (who I suspect flips mafia, eventually) is potentially setting up future votes on Ithi and Shad. Just stood out because these 3 are folks I feel I have decent reads on, and they are opposite what I have got going on. Sinister - It's all been said. Suspicious activity around the Darthe death. Arguments A) with folks who I see as town and B) that don't really seem to progress anything or hold weight or be hunting or.... Seems to be viewing the game through a wildly different lens than I am, which makes me think mafia. V I B E S, also, as stated. Teph - I don't believe the reads, don't believe the hunting attempts. Ed - useless. --- A tangle exists in my head between Peace+Heavy+SD. None of them seem to be aligned with each other at the least. SD is the most mafia and I will leave my vote there. Teph doesn't look great. More from Tigs/Ed/Gud is required, probably myself too. I was accused of leaving an easy vote on SD and well, yep. SD was my best read, and I didn't have time to do much else until now. I would move to Teph, but that train ain't moving quick enough I believe. Turin is existing in his own space. Townish. The rest can come when it's not 330 come onnnnnnnn night ya'll.

Just back from Friday night things. Will give myself an hour or so to trawl through the thread and kick the tyres on my reads and absorb what's happened. This is my last window to update/do things before hammer deadline due to timezones, just flagging. Let's dive in. I guess I'm here for the hour if anyone needs anything urgently?
-
Pretty sure hammer deadline is 6am if you live in the southern part of the Australian east coast. QLD give or take an hour. I'm remembering that this game is essentially "Bad faith arguments; the musical" after trying to read through the overnight content. I keep trying to skim over internet arguments like normal and then I have to be all "wait, that's why we're here". I'll have to dig in proper at lunch/after some work goes out. I'm not mad at a Gud vote, but any proper support for it would come after review. I think early on I was mixing up Shad and Gud and Shad has streaked ahead in townie vibes, whilst Gud didn't really do much of anything. Same as SD though really - nothing I've seen post voting has changed my opinion that he's likely mafia. More later if there's more to be added.
-
Like not overly. But I feel a bit behind the meta tbh, so felt it best to check if there's some weird unspoken taboo I'm breaking because that's what I'm sort of taking from Peace's comments. He had reserved 3rd vote on any forming train? That sounds weird to me, but also just within the realm of possibility that it's some weird custom that could have sprung up around here. It's also likely a joke that's just gone right by me. At any rate, the actual prod coming from peace is based on me skimming, which I think is pretty weak, as addressed. I be reading.
-
I just don't know if the 3rd vote thing is real or not 😕 Like if I actually stepped on toes by voting where I did in the order or if it's just... Waffle.
-
...do you seriously not expect a vote count to go above 2 before we all pause and wait for you to cast the third? I feel like that's kind of ridiculous to the point that I can't believe it's actually a thing and I'm clearly missing something. For what's it's worth I do remember reading this on my morning update now you've bought it back, but it didn't seem relevant or ...really understandable from where I sit. It sounded like meta talk and I don't game hard enough to make any use of it. I freely admit I disregarded this as soon as I read it. Also - not skimming, definitely read everything but will admit definitely not remembering details that feel irrelevant. Such as this 3rd vote business. Also also, I was voting SD because I had done my catch up and felt ready to vote. Hardly my fault Turin got in whilst I was post composing I'm pretty sure, which took me from 2nd to 3rd voter. Even had I remembered the 3rd vote stuff from your corner, I still would have voted SD tbh. I don't see a reason not to once I'd gathered what I deemed enough info to cast it. 48hr turnaround for town and playing from Australian time zones means I'm making sure my vote is somewhere I want it to be as soon as I feel I have enough to go by.

I answered my own question, sort of. In the intro thread, it states that roles from the list that follows MAY be included. So I think we can't be 100% sure that any role exists in the game. Is this a this game thing or standard mafia setup boilerplate in 2025?
-
@DPR I feel like I read somewhere that not all listed roles are guaranteed to be in the game, and some might enter the game as it progresses. Am I just making stuff up now? Thank you.
-
Shame. I never get mail.
-
@Ithillian Turambar I think you're getting a bit mixed up. In the quote post above the middle post where you think you see me flip flopping, I'm stating it's likely more tempting for mafia to stay harness the power of chat vs the power of one vote. I just don't think I made myself clear as Shad has already alluded to. Dead townies I've always maintained should take the vote option unless other circumstances dictate the voice is more important.
-
I was rereading a bit and noticed this - was I not meant to be the 3rd vote for some reason? I totally missed that if so.
-
I accept this. I am playing vibes mafia and my words are often wordy. I am available for clarifications. Apologies.
-
This is getting formattingly ugly but @Shad_ this is the post where I feel SD is talking about how this play feels targetted at him. That pot shot comment is referring to mafia making SD look bad by killing Darthe, no? Like do your thing, shake it up, but I feel my arguments are sound.
-
The play as I see it: Mafia notice Darthe has no SD read during the post. SD makes a 'big' deal of it in thread. NK in on Darthe. SD "Whelp, I look sus now huh?" I feel like SD tangled himself in Darthe business, only so he could later say "I'm too tangled in Darthe business, it's far too suspicious of me as mafia to kill Darthe, therefore I am not mafia." --- So, mafia taking advantage of the SD miss from Darthe's read, is my main theory. The alternative is it's not SD, but I don't think it it's Ithi, less so Turin. A deep dive on Heavy would be my next uh item I guess if the SD train derails. But given what I feel like I saw in SDs language when addressing certain topics, I'm ok leaving the vote for now.
-
I mean, I don't know what else to call that. SD was calling Ithi's near-death interactions with Darthe as a possible bit of future manufactured evidence to be used against her. Ostensibly SD is doing this to flag that Ithi's interactions are NOT necessarily sus. Given SD's in the same boat, ie, interacted with Darthe near to his death, if there's a successful argument to be made that Ithi's behaviour wasn't sus, SD can hope to then apply that argument to their own clutch of interactions. Given I do find SD's interactions (mentions and non-mentions, really) with Darthe to be sus before this convo regardless, I guess I'm just feeding my own beliefs with this proxy observation. But the pieces fit together for me, so onward I press. I've no better candidate. SD was very quick to point out how this NK was all about trapping him in a situation (which maybe I've fallen for), or Darthe was killed because he knew too much. I think this is too narrow a thought process, and it's very conceivable that SD spent the night positioning himself to appear "too obvious" a mafia patsy.
