    Interesting observation! I never really thought about the connection between mandrake folklore and the way it appears in the Wheel of Time. The humanoid shape of the root and its traditional associations with magic make it a fitting detail for the series. I wonder if Jordan drew inspiration from these older legends when developing the idea.
