I think the biggest mistake is waiting until you have the “perfect” system before you start writing. A simple outline for the main plot, characters, and major scenes can be enough to get going. Some writers prefer tools like Scrivener or Notion, while others do perfectly well with Google Docs and a separate notebook for ideas.
