  1. Civil war in Cairhien isn't necessary. Dragon feeding Cairhien didn't play big role in book. Saving Cairhien from Couladin would be enough. Much bigger problem is Tear, which played role in the most of Rand geopolitical actions. However, it looks like they flushed Rands whole arc down toilet so far. So they can do pretty much anything with him.
  2. If you ask for RECOMMENDATION, then read all books. I cannot recommend you anything else. To my not-RECOMMENDATION now: As you can see, as much as I wanted reduce books for you from all books to some books. It is only 1 out of 5 I cut out so read all books :).
  3. That would be story of mighty aes sedai and her warden. Story we didn't get. He didn't listen what she need. He did what he wanted. We know that wardens have occasionally disobeyed the orders of their aes sedai. But they had the best interest of their aes sedai in their mind. Gawyn followed his interests only.
  4. Morgase -Tallanvor, Egeanin -Domon, Greens and their wardens. I didn't aim to list all romances the books touch on. It is important to draw line somewhere to has comparable couples.
  5. R. Jordan isn't known for writing romances well. But how bad it was or was it bad for you at all? Let's stay with main characters only and sort them in ranking. Also which romances were good, which bad and which in between? My take on it: GOOD 1. Min-Rand; only one well done romance probably. I would sacrifice quartople in second for it. Min character is reduced to viewings only in TW show now however, no wit no independence, so I am quite afraid. 2. Nyn-Lan; I wrote that there is only one well done romance. It is because we don't get to see intimate moments between Nyn and Lan. It is probably good if we look at other romances. I feel that they has good chemistry together. So they deserve place her in good category. IN BEETWEN 3. Tuon-Mat; marriage established on prophecy is hardly romantic construct. However they started respect each other and so it could play well if it has more time to be build in the books. 4. Avi-Rand; although tsundere type can work well in romance building. Their relationship froze in some moment and didn't develop father. They still get to respecting each other so only time was missing. BAD 5. Elayne-Rand; they never get over crush on physical level. When I understand why Elayne teared down Rand`s banners, her renaming of Rand`s school show that she didn't understand Rand at all. His deepest fears and desires meant nothing to her. 6. Faile-Perrin; oil and water bad chemistry, they don't match at all. They were more like domestic violence then romance. Yet they are not last. 7. Egy-Gawyn; poor country girl and prince charming? Mighty aes sedai and her warden? No fairy tale like this. Self absorbed prick who made her fall and her greatest moment, but later wasn't his merit. What is your take on this? There were other couples, but I think that they shouldn't be compared with main characters. You can make separate comparison for them.
  6. Cadsuane beats Min to force her to reveal viewings about Rand. She is bully from the begining.
  7. Cadsuane wasn't only one power abuser in tWoT. But where others has some arcs of reformation or punishment, Cadsuane has nothing like that. She was near to break dragon and make him do what shadow wished, yet she never owned her mistake.
  8. It will reflect only spirit of that chapter: Mat racing shadow who will get in Tear faster. Book has several other parts of arcs with similar meaning. So it should set stakes for all main arcs of season.
  9. I hope that finn gate/arc will be cut out. It doesn't give much to character development. Making it properly would need a lot of money and I can be easily replaced or be done differently. Any prophecy can be done by other way, for example by Min. Any artefact can be found in Rhuiden. Mo can be imprisoned in White Tower.
  10. Reading discussions, I am starting to think, that I am part of very small group of people, who think that Rand channeling was his secondary power. I see his primary power elsewhere. When Rand traveled and interact with people, he bound them to his cause. Min, Guy with carriage outside Caemlyn, Loial, Elayne, Ingtar and Hurin, Lan who was alofe to him at first, ..., Siswai'amans ... That was his primary power. TV show Rand, who don't interact with Min, Tom, Loial, Ingtar.... That is his real depowering and it is total so far. And it has its impact on story logick either, because without their relations to Rand, they lack of motivation in show.
  11. "he who comes with the dawn" isn't the designation of everyone who comes with the dawn. No matter how hard Couladin tries to push this interpretation. It is part of Rhuidean prophecy. It is foretelling that person with dragons on both hands will come with dawn and that this person will be Car'a'carn.
  12. I believe that DO need turned Dragon for absolute victory. That killing Dragon has no value for DO. Killing Rand would give DO time to prepare for next Dragon with full touch on world se DO would have bigger chance to success. But as I said, killing Dragon itself has now valu for DO.
  13. I don't. It is better to give that time to living character - active actor of story, than to characters who are long dead .
  14. It is very superficial assessment. Rand character was built during first 2 books. RJ needed to show who he was, before he became dragon and became mad. Friends, he made then supported this "shepherd" not dragon.
  15. While some see Rand's character weakened by depriving him of his super heroic moments. Some of us are unhappy that he lost his Rand ordinary shepherd moments. Building his character before he "became" Dragon reborn. He didn't get Hurin endless loyalty by being messiah.
  16. Quite often the prophecies in the book are referred to as instructions on how to do something and not that something will definitely happen. Spoiler from book 3: Rand wasn't lead by wheel, he was lead by aes sedai from time of breaking. They wrote "manual" and Rand followed it.
  17. Ishy is responsible for building and maintaining all dark societies during his free times out of prison. Post you are responding to, looks like Ishys intervened directly, something I wouldn't agree with. But you can make Ishy responsible through chain of events.
  18. Main bulk of WC was army exactly like in cause of knight orders. They participated in skirmishes and wars with neighbours of Amadicia and they are main military power in Amadicia. Their leader was mentioned as one of greatest general.
  19. Rand born like Dragon. I wish he has something he earned by himself. Skill he lerned, deeds done without one power. It is like born to be rich. Your wealthy is hardly something you can boast about then.
  20. Rigid use of one power was result of dogmatism, each group of channelers sufered. Wise one kept out of battles, damane were slaves, aes sedai arrogantly refuse any changes. Dragon destroyed all shackles and self induced shackles of their minds were one of strongest.
  21. From other posts point of view, my post will be a little heretical. But I don't see her story arc tragic at all. She got what she wished for. Maybe we should add "beware of what you wish!" Although all of 5EFs had some thought about adventures. None of other 4EFs actualy wished to live such lives. Egwene's was only one who wished leave a secluded village for adventure live, heroic deeds and be somebody world will remember for ages. And she got exactly that. Her life burned briefly, but intensely and with a big bang at the end.
  22. I don't share the opinion that is woven through most of the posts in this thread. Books can be consumed by various ways. It is better to repeat something and prevent confusion, then other way. I actually find the way RJ did it interesting. Each description of core characters is repeated from POV of some minor character. RJ changed culture of this minor character from book to book, so description was different because diferent culture and diferent personality. It told me a lot of about culture of this minor character. So it wasn't about repeating desription only.
  23. They are mostly minor scenes, like when Mat and Perrin find Rand is dragon and Perrin defuse it by jokes. When Lan made Rand stand before aes sedai proudly. Or when Perrin speak with wolves about Rand and his night heist. How Rand made "Selene" pout, because he change direction in last second despite compulsion. Character building (Rand and Perrin), which earn them respect of shienars and build their characters for finale of book.
  24. When I think about first 4 episodes, I am hit by revelation... Season 2 did not introduce any of my favorite scenes in book 2 so far. 😟
  25. When I was there last time, I didn't see any trolloc, nor darkfriend. But next time, my eyes will be open.... 🤨 https://www.prague.eu/en/object/places/596/memorial-of-national-literature-hvezda-summer-palace-pamatnik-narodniho-pisemnictvi-letohradek-hvezda
