Or we could just ask Tay nicely.......

Hi Carl... good to meet you. Where in the UK do you hail from? Hope you'll enjoy your time here at DM despite this being rather a lull in proceedings. Calm before the storm possibly with the TV series on the horizon! Shout if we can help with anything. Oh and watch out for Elgee. She seems lovely but she bites and I'm not altogether certain when she was last innoculated. *smirk*

thanks, Tay I'm from Lancashire and from your username, I'd guess  you are from Dundee or Perth nice to meet you

I'mnot sure how threads of fire & spirit (Nynaeve healing stilling) could be presented in a TV show balefire would be easier

If I were to guess, I would think they have a SFX devoted to creating the "weaving" effect for the series.  I suspect it will be pretty amazing actually in appearance. yeah that works but to return to GoT the vivid blue eyes = undead under the control of Night King representation of magic works

Dont really agree with. Some of the magic scenes in GOT are also among the favorite scenes, and the dragons are hugely popular which is pure fantasy. People will accept magic fine as long as the presentation makes it organic and believable. That is possible with Wheel of Time, whereas most magic is poorly written and comes off as silly. TEOTW is very strong source material so I think it will be presented fine, and let's not forget it is their most anticipated show. The popularity of the books is huge.

They don't add much by themselves, but they sure do add a lot when we learn about who the Aiel once were and their hypocrisy.  The travelling people stayed true when the Aiel did not.  And that's MAJOR.

agreed, without the Tuatha'an the Aiel are just a race of amazing warriors a bit like the Zulus Personally Id hate to see them simplified to this point

  5. as I reread the series I'm concerned about how the producers can implement the magic/one power within the series, GoT works because magic is kept in the background. it's there it's important but it's not in your face(exception: Night King & minions & Dragons) I'm not sure the non-science fantasy reading general public would accept overly magical TV which is the audience Amazon will need to win over to make this the next Game of Thrones

  6. thank you for the warm welcome Da'jen ?

I fouled up comment, not sure why but I wanted to say Ji'e'toh is too generic an Aiel term and Id like to change my username if possible to Mandein (which will be easier for the community to interact with)

Welcome to DM, Ji'e'toh! I foresee that we're going to call you Ji, because we can't remember how to spell the rest .... lol

There's an Aiel social group on here which I'm sure you'll feel at home in, but please feel free to pop your head in everywhere else! thank you Elgee I've already suggested an adjustment to my username as Ji'e'toh is a concept rather than the name of a person, I understand this will incur toh to the admins, thanks for creating such a great community

  8. Hi my name is Carl I'm from the UK and a fan of the WOT series (which I'm currently rereading (again))

I'm looking forward to the TV series *IF* they can do the series justice
