  1. Now I am not sure how to go about it, say if Ashaman J bonds Aes Sedai A then it counts as his bond but not hers? However if Aes Sedai A bonds Ashaman J than that counts as her available slot for Warders of any kind. I think that's what Kaylan is talking about.

Yeah, that was my thinking. You're right that it will make it even harder for the Warders, though. I guess I just don't want to see every single WT player with Asha'man bonds, since it is a bit of a big deal; maybe simply having it as a 'needs permission' thing would do the trick.

With regards to Anthea: It's entirely up to you how you want to play it, Kaylan - personally, I'd love to have Zarinen throw a frothy and make someone serve penance till their eyes popped ... lol. Though it would be for talking back, not disobeying ... no Red would disobey the Highest, would she?  ;D

Oh, of course not. *shifty eyes*

Sounds like fun! I'm up for it if you are. :D

  2. So I'd support stricter guidelines on Ajahs other than the Red bonding Asha'man, and definitely not allow multiple Asha'man warders apart from Red (sorta the reverse of Green).

I'd support that. I also liked the proposal that was raised earlier re: the Gray Ajah I think, where it was said that one Asha'man could be Bonded even if you already have a Warder (or have filled your slots, if you're a Green), but if you didn't have a Warder he'd count as your Warder slot, and that until you were Bond-free you wouldn't be able to Bond again (whether it was an Asha'man or a Warder). If that makes sense at all. I feel like a diagram would help. :D

I've played female TGs and male TGs and have enjoyed playing them both. I've also Bonded both male and female Warders and haven't found one any more hassle-ish than the other - wasn't aware it was an issue for most people, although thinking about it now I do think the majority of Warders probably are male. I don't think that's a Warders Div issue, I think that's more of a player issue, but it might help if the Warders Div issued some kind of public service announcement about it? *lol*

What is everyone's opinion about the female Warders for Reds thing? Is anyone Promised? Is anyone interested in it? I don't want to come in here before I've even got my Red PC sorted properly and make like my opinions are important, but I do find myself wondering how the members of the Red Ajah feel about it.

Oh, and I never answered about Anthea being ordered to Bond, did I? As a player, I like the idea, but the little Anthea voice that lives in my head is saying that she'd rather be exiled for disobeying orders than Bond anyone, but especially a man who can channel. So I think I'll abstain. ;) Unless you want to play that sort of thing out, because it could be ridiculously fun. Although sending a character to the Farm in the main plotline could be slightly problematic, heh.

  3. When DID the rule about female warders get made? I've never heard of it prior to now - was it something Andrea brought in?

I agree about getting permission to Bond Asha'man. It's something unusual, and there has always been a problem of too many Warder Div members not being Bonded. I know, I used to play the Commander of the Tower Guard way back when. ;) It was always really hard to come up with stuff for the TG to do so that they didn't feel like rejects who couldn't get a Bond - I can only imagine the numbers of unbonded Warder Div members will go up now, both because we've simply got fewer players in the WT div, and because the initial excitement of being able to Bond BT guys will have everyone scrambling for that. Especially if they're going to be allowed multiple Bonds (doesn't that kind of take away from the special factor of the Green Ajah, btw?).

Ramble ramble ramble. It's a bit of a complex issue, in my head at least. What do the incarns or whatever we're calling them these days think?

  4. It had been decades since Kaylan was an official teacher in the Tower; her patience had been shrinking in direct proportion with her increasing age ever since she had attained the shawl. There were far too many upstart young girls these days who felt that they knew it all, had seen it all, could do it all – she simply couldn't deal with more than a few at once anymore.

But occasionally there was a young aspiring Green that the Aes Sedai would take under her wing, or even a girl undecided about her Ajah; Kaylan had not dissociated herself from Tower life entirely yet. Occasionally she felt the need to make her presence known; she would not be retired as so many of her Sisters had, sneakily and with apparent compassion. Kaylan Morin would die in the Blight, fighting Shadowspawn, not in her bed.

A knock sounded at her door, one of the girls she had consented to teach, if the small timepiece on her desk was correct. Her mind drifted back to a time when clocks had been luxuries, far too expensive for her family to afford; she had checked the time at the Luin's inn, if she needed to know it, but more often than not had simply lived by the sun. That was a long time ago. Everyone she had known from that life was gone, now.

"Enter," Kaylan said, softly, as she returned to the present moment. "Come in, girl, and sit down." Her right hand motioned to the empty chairs in the room; three, for each of her Warders, but all of her Gaidin were occupied elsewhere right now. They no longer felt the need to spend the day in each others' pockets, but Kaylan could remember a time when they had.

"Show me the Wards we worked with last time." Lydia was a diligent student, and strong with Spirit; the old Green enjoyed teaching her. It was rare that the Accepted needed correction more than once; she was the kind of student Kaylan liked to teach, although certainly not the sort of student the Green had been back when she wore the banded hem. She had been far too concerned with visiting the Warders' Yard when she was young, and had let her strength with the element carry her. Close calls when she had left the Tower for the first time after being raised to the shawl had taught her the folly of her ways. She had been lucky that they were only close calls.

Lydia formed the weaves perfectly, as usual, and Kaylan smiled approvingly. "Hold the last one," she told the girl, embracing the Source to touch the fine net of Saidar with a tendril of fire. The sound of a bell rang out, clear and true. "Well done," the Aes Sedai said, releasing the Source. "Tell me about your studies, Lydia. Have you still been examining ter'angreal?" For a time the Browns had thought they were going to get her, but Lydia had been specifically studying those ter'angreal that might have battle applications. Most of them were known, had been well studied before, but the girl had a healthy (Kaylan thought, anyway) interest in weapon-based ter'angreal and had been working with some of the Aes Sedai who were knowledgeable on the subject.

OOC: To be continued; wanted to get a starter up and make sure I'm not too rusty at this!

  5. *peek*

So, I feel a little bit odd being in here, given that it's been so long since I wrote anything for Anthea. I'm in the process of editing her bio so she can be an active member of the Reds, and I actually think I'd like to play her on a full-time basis, but that's not the point of my replying to this thread. *clears throat*

I actually don't think Anthea would be in the least interested in Bonding or being Bonded. She's quite focused on tradition and law (she'd object majorly to the Bonding of female warders, too), and she's going to feel that, Source cleansed or not, the men are still two or more steps down the road to madness, and still very dangerous.

As a player, I'd love to be involved. But the character just isn't the type to swing that way. If she ever was to Bond, I think it'd only be to one man. But, definitely at the start at least, she'll be opposed to ANY Bonding, and therefore won't care more or less about the numbers.

    Clear as mud?

  6. I've just gone searching through my old RP archives, and I actually still have the original files for the Spirit class. Should I make a list of the weaves, revise things a bit, and let you take a look-see to make sure it's still OK? I'd be happy to teach that one again if anyone was interested in it. (And it would be a decent way to get some playing of Kaylan's Talent happening, too, actually.)

Have the weave strength requirements changed in the last couple of years? I should probably go through and make sure the strengths are still the same, if we've got a weaves list floating about anywhere.

Ah, I remember the days when ICQ was the IM of choice for DMers. When I was a girl....

  8. Are other Ajahs going to be allowed to be Bonded to multiple Asha'man, in addition to Warders? I've not looked into it a whole lot but I'd be curious to see how the other Ajahs are handling the situation to figure that into the Greens' response.

Of course, being the Bond-whore that I am, I say we should be able to have a whole army Bonded to us, but that's always been shot down in the past. ;)

  9. Kaylan is Bonded to Mercury Sansiria, Calya Gille and Jada Sellick. None of them are active at present. Jada is a TPC Child of the Light who was supposed to be killed off aaaaaaaaaages ago, but inactivity on the part of various players meant that she's still technically kicking around. We could call her killed off if the Powers That Be desire it, though.

  10. Wow, Anthea's on that table! I made her up years and years ago - she's a Red Sister, for the record, and I probably still have her bio floating around on my hard drive somewhere...

It all looks right for Kaylan, anyway.

(Yes, I've wandered back over again after yet another absence. *tentative wave*)

  11. It was not a habit of Kaylan's to attend tea parties and the like, even - or perhaps especially - when there would be novices and Accepted in attendance to make pests of themselves with questions about the ajah. However, she was finished with her research for the morning and given that Jaydena's mentee was supposed to be around had decided to make an appearance. She didn't know the girl from a bar of soap, but, having mentored Jaydena an extraordinarily long time ago, Kaylan felt that perhaps there was some sort of connection. At the very least, she could check up on her once-mentee and ensure that the girl (for she still thought of Jaydena as a girl sometimes, regardless of the woman's age and status within the ajah) was doing a proper job of mentoring.

She didn't bother with changing before she left her quarters; her fingertips were somewhat inkstained but the dress was clean and perfectly serviceable if low-cut enough to be bordering on the scandalous. The ageing Sister, hair as much white as it was blond now, was far too old and cranky to care what the young ones thought of her; she'd worn the same style of dresses for all of her long years in the Tower, through the reigns of several Amyrlins and more monarchs in the surrounding lands than she cared to count. If her clothing had served her well enough through battles and balls, it would certainly do for tea with a few children.

There was already a group assembled and conversing when the short Green entered, her skirts swishing around her ankles. Green eyes, the colour mirroring both her ajah and her dress, swept around the party, settling on the familiar faces of her Sisters and astutely examining the girls in white. Kaylan did not recognise a one of them, which was not entirely a surprise - there seemed to be different novices everytime she emerged from her room, or perhaps she had seen so many girls in white and banded hem over the years that they all blended into one.

Taking a seat, Kaylan settled her skirts around her and poured herself a cup of tea. She raised her cup in a sort of greeting to her auburn-haired former protégé, saying, "Jaydena, Sister. It is a pleasure to see you again." She took a sip and then directed a nod at Eadon, who seemed to be giving an explanation of the Green Ajah to one or two of the girls. It was good to hear that at least some of her Sisters had not forgotten what being a Green meant; she had privately held doubts about several over the years.

It seemed that two of the girls hailed from the Blightborder; Kaylan had spent many years travelling and fighting in the Borderlands, and had a deep respect for every soldier from the area. That respect did not extend to the girls who found themselves in the Tower; they would earn her respect in time, if they were worthy of it. The thirst for vengeance one articulated was not a good start - the Green Ajah was about more than revenge, and if the girl truly wished to serve as a soldier of the Battle Ajah, she would need to understand that such desires could be more of a weakness than a strength. But however tempting it was to interject with her opinion on the matter, the old Green decided to leave the conversation to Eadon for the moment. She took another sip of her tea, and settled back to listen.
