  1. Ok, will do, i will post it here in a moment, lemme eat some lunch first, and i will get right on it... hope to do 2 RP's a day this week... :P Andrej, you want long posts or short ones? (I can do both... lol)

  2. Usually with a new character, you meet a master at arms, who will take you in, show you around, and then give you an initial spar to determine your WS.  Having wielded a sword before, you would likely start out a 2-3 (*I am guessing, I am NOT allowed to make these kinds of decisions, but your guy had a rudimentary grasp of how to fling the sword without killing himself, otherwise he would not have been a guard for a merchant train, he might even have fought of bandits...) its something you need to work out with the Master-At-Arms.  As such, i will let them direct you further, as they usually like to do the initial RP.  Am I right in guessing your Characters nationality is Arafaelin? If so, Reki is too... from Shol Arbela... if the MAA is ok, i could have Reki collect you and deliver you to them.... giving you a soft word of encouragement before the MAA can attempt to beat you into submission.... lol!

I await more info from the MAA, or higher authority than mine... (which is little or nothing, lol)

Edit: I liked the post, lol! just sayin...

  3. He entered the room, noting a collection of odd things on the table behind the woman standing in the room.  She was tall, well, she appeared to tower, as Rekinu had noticed most Aes Sedai did, and her presence commanded his attention.

She looked first to his bonded, as they acknowledged each other, and seemed to communicate volumes in their merely looking at each other.  Rekinu shifted his feet a bit, the bells jingling him, reminding him he was wearing them, and he stopped, firming his resolve to stand at attention.  Would she require a feat to prove his worth?  Was he supposed to know something obscure about the Green Ajah and its history.... If that was the case he was about as sunk as if he tried to take a small boat out into the ocean.  He could remember little about battles he had not been in, much less anything particular about how a green warder was to be different than others.

Soon enough, her attention turned to him, and she spoke.  "Please, Gaidin, relax," which didn't help his nerves at all.  He immediately assumed a part of the void to rid himself of the butterflies that twisted in his gut.  He realized how little he had interacted with Aes Sedai other than his bonded.  He was not sure about protocol to others besides obeying without question (as long as it did not contradict anything his bonded had told him). But she continued with a smile in her eyes, which DID help a small amount, if only fractionally.  "I trust you understand what you've bonded into, whether you did at the time or not. There is no place for discomfort. I am Amena, and, as Taia no doubt advised you, my position here in these halls is a closely guarded secret outside of them." She paused for a moment and lifted her hand towards the couch that was set to one side. "Please, have a seat and tell me how the two of you came to this place. The way a pair bonds will tell you quite a bit about what they are willing to do on a battle field, after all. Would you care for some mulled wine?"

He stared at her a moment.  She wanted him to explain how he had met Taia.  Hmm... He had not thought about it much, it just had happened, but after a little bit he bowed low to her, ensured that Taia had a seat as well, before following her to the couch, sitting on... the most comfortable thing he had ever sat it.  The one in his room Taia had given him was just a board with maybe two layers of fabric, this seemed to have... clouds on snugged under the fabric.

After a little... bounce, he stopped and blushed a tad, ducking his head for a minute before catching himself, he WAS a warder, albeit perhaps lacking in culture...

He cleared his throat and began.  "To not bore you about my life, I hail from Arafel, and made my way to the Tower some, 5 winters ago? Maybe more." He shook his head, he didn't even know for sure, training all kinda blended together when you did the same thing day after day, the bruises, the did the same after a while until you were spry enough to avoid most of them.  "I saw Taia my first day at the tower, she was speaking with some other trainees when I passed her to meet the Master-at-Arms.  After some time training, about two years and a half, maybe three ago, Taia had a mission to complete outside the tower.  She requested an escort and I and the late Tower Guard Cetar Puil accompanied her on the mission."

He paused, remembering the time spent on the beginning of the mission, carefree, being taught one-on-one by the more serious man, as they traveled looking for... only Taia knew what.  His was a baptism of fire, perhaps not nearly as bad as some people, but dispite being raised on the streets and being used to the cruder part of society, it was plenty hot enough for him.  He usually shied away from the discussion, once he told his commanding officer upon his return from the mission, he never brought it up and avoided answering any questions asked of him by his peers.

"She seemed to trust me right from the start, only the creator knows why.  I was untrained in the art of guise, too trusting by far."  He laughed a small, short laugh, "I suppose I still am, can't seem to weed that out of me. Huh, its gotten me my fair share of problems."  Somberly, he continued, "I killed my first darkfriend" he nearly spit the word out, "and lost a mentor." It still shamed him to this day that he had not been good enough, fast enough, trained enough to come to Cetars aid in his moment of greatest need.  He took a breath, and then continued.  'I continue the fight in his name.  After that first excursion, I accompanied Taia a few more times after that, and it just... happened."  He lightened up a little, "I don't even remember very well, she was mad, or something and i had to track her down to keep her safe, and, well, we showed back up at the tower bonded.  It still feels a bit wierd to get a bit of her emotions through my head... not that i can read her any better now than i could without it mind you, but it has helped a couple times, most especially when we were in the Borderlands looking for what was happening to the eyes and ears network up there."

Unsure of how detailed he could be on missions, he skirted them, and then talked about some training they had done together, her tossing apples at him with the one power for him to defend himself on all sides from unseen opponents, and the not-as-successful archery practice.

When he was done with what he had to say, unsure why he had said so much, he paused, took a gulp of the forgotten mulled wine, and waited, holding his breath.

    Still nervous, Rekinu Alasayaar

  4. Reki  would take the class, though i am sure he would feel disgust over being taught by a thief... he is Arafallin, so he has honor issues, and cannot fathom why people would steal... a street rat himself, he would sympathize with that kind of hardship though... lol!

  5. I would think he could easily pick it as a secondary weapon if you will, make him very formidable in uses as a recon unit, entering a city to search out information, keep him where he could hold his own in a brawl, and able to defend himself without a weapon if he has to relinquish his weapon to enter a particular place.

  6. While he had hoped that more seasoned trainees would have joined in, Rekinu knew Grey.  The woman was new to him, but she would prove her mettle, and stick around, or not.  She did have a determined look in her eyes, and set in her jaw that said if she did not get her way all the time, it was not due to a lack of trying.

With Grey in the middle, Rekinu moved to the left, and Coraman to the right, circling.  Rekinu had picked quarter-stave mostly because it was fun to twirl around, but also due to the speed at which you could alter your playing style in the face of differing opponents.

As Rekinu half expected, Visar struck first.  He had expected him to come for him, and he was ready, but Visar struck for Coraman first.  With his back to him, Rekinu took advantage, and attempted a series of thrusts, but Visar expected the move and pulled away after blocking a couple of them.

Both of these recruits were new enough, and not familiar enough with each other, or Rekinu to work as a team, so it was only expected, well, that and Visar WAS Blademaster... don't ever forget that part of the equation.

Looking at Coraman, Rekinu caught her eye, and somhow they clicked, if only for a moment, and they reacted immediately.  The River Undercuts the bank made Visar block, and the Boar Rushes down the Mountain made him dance, and then Grey slipped in and almost got a hit.  Knowing the, experience, of his follow mates, and Visar's deadly force (he had received too many bruises to count), he backed off, drawing Visar after him, in the hopes of alleviating the pressure that he could.  It only helped a little, as Visar still slashed towards the two of them, seeking targets.

Rekinu threw himself back at Visar, thinking it was too late, one of them were bound to be hit...

  7. After a time, Grey was starting to get a hang of it.  He spoke up, just as Rekinu was going to move to something else, I do not mean to take time away from your own practice. Surely you are not learning or developing your own skills when you are helping me like this. However, if you do have a few more minutes I would appreciate going through one or two of the basic defensive forms. My feet and my arms always get tangled up.”

Smiling, he said "No need to worry Grey, no matter how good you are at anything, taking the time to go over the basics is a time to review yourself, and relax.  In order to be a good tower guard, or even Warder if an Aes Sedai takes a fancy to bond you, is to be one with your weapon.  It truly needs to be an extension of your arm, and nothing less.

You can draw it smoothly, now we will sheathe it.  If you are running from a an overwhelming force, sometimes you need both hands for lifting a burden, a wounded comrade, an important parcel, throwing something into the path behind you, anything to keep the enemy even further from you than they were.  To do that, you must be able to sheathe as fast as you can pull.  Again, repetition.  Just pull your weapon out till the tip of the sword is just inside the lip of the scabbard, and then back in, gently though, we want your sword to last you many more seasons.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(ooc: do this just like twice, and then have Reki teach you a particular move you want to learn)

  8. As Rekinu sparred in the grounds with Visar, the sun shone down hot already.  Rekinu loved the heat, but not so much the slaps of the training lathe.  He was improving, Visar seemed to hit him less and less every few spars... well, by one or two anyways.  He had been accustomed to pain, hunger and deprivation before joining the Tower, but despite that working as a warder was much harder.  Training every day and night to be prepared against the worst you could imagine, and the Dark One himself imagined far worst.  You had someone else to protect as well.  Idly he felt for that someone in his mind (and received a jab for his lack of attention).  'That woman' he thought irritably, was a very serious one to be bonded to.  She wasn't serious in and of herself, in fact, she loved to dance, or so he had been told, and she definitely loved to flirt... which had, on occasion precipitated a brawl, or two... Rekinu disliked bars still, too rowdy for his taste.  A boyhood in the streets left one desiring quiet.  He felt at home in a bustling city, and could move around mostly unnoticed there, well when he was not wearing his sword he could anyways.  He never could figure her out, they would run out of the tower with no warning, there MIGHT be fighting, but riding hard most of the way, and when returning, she would disappear into that massive tower for weeks on end.  At first Rekinu tried to find a system, but either there was none, or it was a very elaborate one.

Well, Rekinu always wanted a simple life, just no more sleeping on the street.  He had that now, though sleeping on the cots in the bunks were not much better, and the beds in the inns were suffocatingly soft, it was nice when the weather was good and they slept outside near the horses around a campfire hidden-

Another crack near his head that he had barely deflected brought his thoughts back to the immediate.  He spun forwards, pushing every advantage, the fast clack-clack drowning out the other thoughts other than one: 'thinking too much is going to get you killed one day...'  He was much better at it when outside the tower, inside, he let his mind wander too often.  Less of a need to keep his alert up... but then again, that was false too. He sighed inwardly, the world was a complicated place to live in, unfortunately.

    They broke away, Rekinu readying for one of Visar's brutal offensive, he could see something cooking in those deep, eyes, and the set of his face.  Rekinu had spent so much time fighting Visar, that he was convinced the man could read what he was about to do, BEFORE he could do it... He was just able to tell that all hell was going to break loose moments before it came.  But before they could engage, he heard Taia's sweet voice;

"Well done warder mine" they stopped, and Rekinu bowed to the Blademaster before turning to her.  It had been his favorite thing to hear from her, from the first time she said it.  It did not matter that she probably said it to her warders before him, and being honest, would probably say it to her warders after him, but the way she said it, it WAS for him.

"Come warder you must clean up it is time to meet the Ajah head." Rekinu nodded, and followed her back to her rooms.  A while ago he had moved his stuff up to her rooms.  Actually, almost several months had past since he had occupied one of her side rooms for his belongings.  It was mostly where he stored his few good possessions, and his weapons. The tower was massive, and too quiet in most of the towers.  He preferred the Green Halls.  It was noisier, and more populated than some others as they had many warders walking around in groups, or with their Aes Sedai.  Most he knew by sight if not by name and fighting style.

When they arrived at Taia's rooms, Rekinu quickly moved into his, where he proceeded to towel off the sweat that remained... Taia made it seem urgent, even though she had an infuriating ability to walk as if she had no care in the world... so there wasn't time for a bath.  He discarded several shirts after finding holes in one place or another, leaving them piled on the floor.  He would have to see about finding someone to mend them... But he found a shirt that had not a single hole in it, and it was miraculously clean too!  Hurriedly he donned some pants, and stomped into his boots.  They were a gift from Taia, but he only wore them when he knew there was to be no fighting.  They were red, and fit his feet so well, he barely realized he wore them.  Reaching into the chest at the end of the bed, he pulled out a box about the length of a mans forearm, and two hand widths wide.  In it were some knickknacks, including a carved rose that took him FOREVER to get right, there were a bunch of bells on strings, and some other items that he ignored.  Pulling out the bells, he returned the box, and strode over to a small mirror by the door.  He quickly fastened bells to his boots and his sleeves, and was busy tying one strand in his hair, when there was a knock.

'Enter' he called and she pushed the door open at the same time he got his finger tied in a not.  Standing there, he gave her a blank stare while he started tugging on his hand to free it.  Upon seeing the grin play about the edges of her mouth, he barked a laugh.  "You know," he said, "you have impeccable timing Taia!"

  9. After the fight was always the best.  He liked talking with those who fought with him after a fight, it helped clear the air, and kept everyone friendly.

As they were getting into it a man approached them and spoke smoothly, "Gentlemen," he said in greeting. "That was a very good exhibition. Perhaps some of those around us will now know what it takes to wear a bond and serve the White Tower."

It made Rekinu felt very uncomfortable.  A good exhibition?  He was exhausted  and on top of that, he had barely touched Visar... even beyond that, he was suspecting it was just because Visar was trying to teach him about how to use his shield, and not any particularly good skills of his own.

Visar took right off, introducing Rekinu to Kynwic.  Apparently he had taught Visar some, and served together for a time too.

They took some time talking about where they were found, when Visar had a brilliant idea... well, for him anyways.  In spite of his tiredness, and his dreading thoughts of being out matched in the impending fight, he felt a thrill run through him that could not deny.

The next thing he knew, another Blademaster was sizing him up... "If Rekinu is up for another bout I could use the practice. Life out of the Tower is less about honing your skill and more about making sure you Sedai doesn't kill herself doing something foolish. Which, of course she'll deny doing five minutes later. Lathes or Blades?" Rekinu was almost insulted...  He was Tower trained, and Arafellin to boot... of course he was up for anythiing.  He had gotten up from more beatings than he could count before he was old enough to remember, even before his mother died.  The world was not soft with those shamed from birth.  It was his duty to serve, and he had gladly taken up a good fight.  Better to die protecting the people, he loved... yes, he did love Taia.  She had been good to him, during their short time together, and that she was willing to listen to him, if only from time to time, made him feel special.  Of course he would spar with Kynwiic.  If he was as good as Visar said, then he was going to at least keep him on his toes.  Mind working furiously at how he was going to keep from dying against an experianced blademaster... from the sounds of it, Visar thought that Kynwic was much better than him, which left Rekinu as the weak chain.

Resolved, he responded "blades" a mere moment before Visar said the same word.  They looked at each other and nodded, returning their lathes to the stands to the side, and retrieving their own equipment quickly.  They returned to the middle of the ring, as Kynwic turned back to them, tugging his vambraces tightly into place.

Rekinu bowed to him, fist holding his weapon hilt up, clenched to his chest.  With that, they backed to an appropriate distance.  Rekinu circled one way, Visar the other.  He wasnt sure if it was practice, or just ingrained knowledge, but he knew Visar knew what he was doing.  Holding himself low, he threw himself at Kynwic, slashing savagely with his sword, and blocking with his shield the first blow... but didn't see the second blow, the same shield that had blocked him had come around, out of nowhere and slammed his head, knocking him sideways to the out skirts of the circle.

It had been his fault, as he had failed to pay attention to the shield.  Parts of what had been taught just that morning wafted back into his head, the shield was more than a weapon... He scrambled uncerimoniously to his feet, vowing not to be caught unawares again.

He swing back into the fight, pushing for an opening,  As he got there, he saw his friend, Visar, get pushed back with a body slam, and he almost got Kynwic in the arm with his shield.  He parried the viscous slash from Kynwic, and had to roll from the shield, but this time it didn't hit him.  As he came to his feet, Visar and he locked eyes for a single moment, almost talking, as they went to work again.  They each parried, and Rekinu was starting to feel a bit better about his skills... he hadn't lost a finger yet, though his earlier rounds against Visar were definitely taking a toll.

    Rekinu Alasayaar

..... Keeping from being too far behind...
  10. Being held by air never was a fun experience.  He did not like not being in complete control of his body.  Perhaps that was why he didnt like being in a boat.  Worse if it was on a large lake or the ocean.  He could do it in a pinch, but he always was relieved upon reaching land again.

Taia walked around him, and started talking, calming him, and then preparing them both mentally for the upcoming activities.  She outlined a potential problem in the very near future, and then told him to get his fancloth.  It made sense, they needed to look the part to the best of their ability.  He also retrieved his shield.  He had not used it yet this trip, and figured that he would need every edge if things went as bad as they might.  He stripped off the leather covering, showing the White Tower blazoned in the middle of the shield, proud of his connection to the bastion for truth.  As soon as he was ready, he turned, seeing her glide out of the room.  His long strides quickly caught up to her, and his eyes started scanning everything near them.  He clenched his shield in his left hand, but forced his right to hover in the air.  Assuming Cat Walks the Courtyard, he forced himself to calm down.

When they arrived to the barracks, Taia received  and followed directions to Lars.  He was assigning duties to the men, as they came in.  Rekinu's eyes scanned the whole room immediately, noting who was holding what kind of weapon, and cataloging it.  He had been separated from his Aes Sedai once, it would NOT happen again.  Nor would he allow anything to happen to her either.

After Lars spoke with her for a moment, he motioned for her to speak to the assembled men.  "Your house has been infected with Darkfriends they may attempt to return tonight, they had hoped to kill my warder and I earlier today." She nodded at him saying, "As you can see they did not succeed.  My warder faced down a blade master with few injuries to show for it." A murmur went through the hall from some of the men, but she continued speaking "Tonight you must be even more vigilant then usual. Trust no one and be alert for any sign of treachery." Turning to Lars she spoke softly, "I'll need to speak to you privately now." He nodded and showed her to the Captain's office.

As soon as they walked in, he asked "What can I do to serve Aes Sedai?" Taia answered "I first wanted to thank you for helping me find my warder today. We think a few of your guard are also darkfriends. Rekinu sent me a message today, which I never got. I also have some reservations about the man we sent away from our search." Lars nodded and she continued "Rekinu will tell you who the messenger was and I would advise to keep them locked up, I will stay with them once you have them. Rekinu will patrol the grounds tonight." Rekinu started to shake his head no.  There was no way he was going to leave her again, not after what had just happened, but she continued before he could voice his disapproval. "i can take care of anyone who tries to free the darkfriends." Lars looked like he was about to say something, but Taia cut it off as well. "If you feel that you must have someone watching over me then you may leave a patrol near where  we keep the darkfriends we have caught. Rekinu can return to me after he has done some patrolling if it will help as well. I am not defenseless however." She opened her hand to show she was holding flames that danced in the darkened room. As the flames winked out, Lars nodded.

With that, she sent them both off to look for the potential warder.  Rekinu was proud, when they found the man, he only had to remind himself once that he was a Tower Guard to keep from striking the man right then and there, but he still tied the man's hands roughly.  They were lucky, he was with a portly woman with an apron, and a skinny man in work clothes.  Apparently the woman worked in the kitchens, and the man was a stable hand.  They took all three back to the baracks, where they were tied to a few of the bed frames, dragged into the middle of the room for that purpose.

He felt Taia come closer, and saw her looking at him in an unreadable expression, but since she didnt call him over, he merely nodded to her, and left out the front.  Lars assigned three men to go with him, though Rekinu would rather have gone alone.  Once outside, he smelled the sweet smell of the world, and smiled inspite of everything.  He loved life.  Being outside was always a pleasure.  Not that being in a building was such a burden, but the world was so... clean.  Especially outside of cities.

They made a few rounds, as darkness fell, and Rekinu left his entourage at the entrance.  He had noticed only three entrances, though only two were used frequently, on his rounds around the grounds of the estate.  He sent one man to tell Lars to lock all the other entrances, and post a heavier guard.  One of the guardsmen suggested more lamps, but Rekinu rejected the idea immediately.  Tonight was feeling like a black night and something felt wrong.  He was halfway around the estate before the wrongness sunk in.  Trollocs.  That was the only thing that felt like that.  He was such a fool.  Out in the forested area around the estate, and he was carrying a shield with a huge white shape on its face.  A perfect marker for any watching eyes.  He immediately headed to the front entrance, though he was not fool enough to run.  As he approached the main entrance, he could see impossibly massive shapes detaching themselves from the trees, and advancing towards the entrance as well, though from the opposite side.  Not only were they faster than him, they were closer.  Immediately, he tried to send warning messages to Taia, right before he threw himself into motion.  He belted for the incoming trollocs, his shield held away so as to not hinder his run, and his sword was out of its scabbard before he had completed one stride.  The shapes hesitated a fraction of a second before they too ran to the entrance, to the soldiers now expecting a fight.  One man went down with an arrow to the face as Rekinu arrived shortly after the massive beasts attacked the guardsmen.  He bellowed again, this time yelling "Trollocs".  In the Borderlands that was all that was needed to get every man, and half of the women scrambling for their weapons to defend their homes from trollocs.  It was good to be around men and women who did not think that trollocs were something from the childrens tales, and it spoke of the efficiency at  which the borderlands protected the rest of the nations from the threat of the Blight and all that lay within.

He slammed his shield into the shape in the center, using his body as the driving force.  He felt, more than enything else, the body go limp as his sword found its second target of the day.  heaving the dead trolloc off the dazed man it had poleaxed in its fall, he threw it into the one closest, on the right.  He followed with a quick jab to silence the snapping from the wolf-like jaws, before turning to the next.  They quickly pulled back into the entrance of the estate, to force the hulking shapes to enter by two at a time.  This made it much easier to fight them, though after a time, the entrance was piled high enough.

From then on, they stuck to the walls, pushing off those attempting to clamor over them.  The next few hours brought only two waves of trollocs, and there were only three men that they captured from inside the building, two trying to let down a rope from a side wall, and one trying to pick the lock on one of the entranced.  One of the two jumped off the wall, to his death, but Rekinu grabbed the other by his scruff of his shirt, and heaved him over before he could fall to his death.  There were no fades, though this close to the blight, that was not a problem.  In the morning they would have to send out parties to see if the trollocs had truly left the area, or if they were holing up to try something else.  Rekinu brought the last man to Taia personally, almost shrugging off her attempts to delve him to see if he needed healing.  He knew her skills in that area were weaker, he knew little of the One Power, but enough to know that it exhausted her to attempt healing, what little she could do.  It had saved his life at least once before, and he would not have her waste her strength now, not when he only had a few scrapes and bruises.

  11. I've done several threads since then. I'll gather them up and shoot you a pm to see if any will work with anything. I think I was the only one really active, so I just went at it for a bit last year before school forced me to set it all aside.

  12. Rekinu was late to practice.  This was unusual to say the least.  He promised himself that he would volunteer for the first demonstration offered by any of the teachers.  He must regain his honor.  He had spent many moons proving his worth to those at the Tower, and he would make sure that he would NOT mess up his life.  It had been started in shame, but he WOULD die with honor.  No one could take that away.

As he took up his position, he noticed Visar off to the side, picking up a staff.  It was a smooth stave, and he looked at least competent as he twirled it around practicing his movements.  Rekinu watched interested.  He had seen several of the Guards practice, but they had simply pointed out that he was missing this or that, when he asked that they allow him to train with them.  It was true, he was still working on his forms, but he HAD chosen a stave as one of his weapons to use, and he wanted to know more.

After a while, Visar stopped, catching his breath, and looked at those around.  He seemed to be waiting... but for what, Rekinu did not know.  After a while, Visar asked the fateful question.  "Yes? What can I do for you?"

Rekinu knew what the answer would be.  He had promised himself upon arriving late, so he stepped forward, cringing inside a bit; Visar was a formidable opponent, and he had taught Rekinu lessons in the past... they were definitely ones that he would not forget soon.  But he said "I wish to spar with you.  To learn how it is to fight against someone wielding the pole, though I fear I would be outmatched by far."

He stood straight as a pole, hoping... and not... that Visar would take him up on the opportunity!
