  14. Seems my response vanished.... I was saying, overall I am very impressed. As a graphic designer, I love the typography, layout, the way the artwork is used but compliments the cover, and the colors are great too. I think this is great. Maybe the back will show a larger view of the artwork, across the top maybe? Too bad we didn't get a sneak peek at the spine and back cover. I must say, I always thought the eBook art for tEotW was kind of misleading. Looks like a swashbuckling pirate book, like Peter and the Starcatchers... I would have picked a more classic scene... Trollocs bursting thru the door on Winternight? The empty road and black rider... Maybe even a scene in Shadar Logoth with Mordeth, Perrin, Rand and Mat. Or Rand's first time channeling to the rescue when he and Mat were trapped in that room in Four Kings and the lightnings came.

A preliminary sketch of Tar Valon I did in an Age long past. I am currently recoloring it and making a few modifications. Stay tuned.

A drawing of Mat with his dice. Never liked this one too much, though he is my favorite character.

    WhiteTower

From the album: The Art of Rob Christianson

Admittedly, this was one of my first experiments with KPT Bryce 1.0 and while I was reading the WOT at the time, I didn't originally intend this to be THE White Tower we all know. But after some post-rendering work in Photoshop (adding windows and flags) I thought it could pass... though the bridges and surrounding towers are missing.

Here's one of my favorite 3D images based on the WOT, a depiction of the Waygate at Manetheren. I loved the mystery and mistiness in this.

This image never was one of my favorites, I think due to the limitations of the software as far as primitive modelling of objects went. Still, I did it for the WOT, so here it is.

In 2009 I received a request for prints of some of my favorite images, by the girlfriend of a huge WOT fan. In order to create print-sized Hi-resolution versions, I had to go back to the original wireframes, hoped they worked in the latest version of the software, import and re-render them, adjusting for changes in technology and basically re-learn how to use Bryce after about 10 years. This is the latest version of the image.

    Tar Valon

From the album: The Art of Rob Christianson

A popular early rendition of the city of Tar Valon. After a couple rereads, I see I missed the Shining Walls. Also I could have made more of the villages at the ends of the bridges. Still, for the tools at hand (Bryce is a 3d environmental program, not a modeler for elaborate shapes) it came out close to my vision.
