Oh, just a friendly gathering. Here, have another brownie.

    *takes notes*

I like your creative way of using fireballs. *nods*

    ?

I role played a short while in the Freelanders. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to continue. Do you role play in rl as well. It has been so long since I did, and I miss it.

Not many chances irl for roleplay, LARPing & cosplay aren't huge industries in Canada compared to the US. And the price is pretty high for any of the really fun stuff, whether it's because its a big armor build, or flamboyant with lots of LEDs and such. Not to mention travel fees, Canada's a big bloody country and we have pretty bad prices, whether flying train or bus it's not exactly cheap when you also have to ship multiple containers with your outfit or gear.

Online roleplay is just so much cheaper, and you can meet some pretty interesting people, met a few old friends over beers and still keep in touch with some. Eventually left here over personal reasons, came back to potentially dabble but they changed the forums and made all these clubs.

Black Tower and Warders were my two primary groups in those olden days, and I wasn't quite sure how these club things work, compared to the old groups.

  2. Not sure if friendly gathering, or interrogation *thinks*

Long time member of the Dragonmount roleplay groups going on damned near 15 years ago now I think, back when we used ezboards. Eventually rose to assistant leader to the Black Tower.

Favourite Asha'man was Corlan Dashiva, whose name I donned for my own character here. And any cleaning I would do involves using fireballs of various sizes.

  3. Sort of around, eventually going to have to get around to speaking to a few people concerning old characters though.

Edit: Arguments were had, words said in anger, and it really needs to be sorted (privately) sooner or later before I'd stick around long-term.  And I don't know the right words to say to the parties in question to initiate that particular conversation after all these years.

  4. This is true, I'm not entirely sure how long the Bond was; but from one of my threads with Lavinya (handle KristenSedai), I haven't used her name in a long, long time just that Nuit had somewhat gotten over it.

Good enough for government work right?  Although I'm going to stay away from training for now, that sucked up alot of my life previously and I have no desire to have 6 students again.

  5. Thanks Tay, I'll have to have a browse then. I know for sure my original Green sister was on the ezboards, so it'd take one of us old farts that actually remembers to confirm, but I do believe it is Calliste. To help trigger any memories, it was a Green that was investigating something about Darkfriends, but she was preggers which contributed towards being able to use OP to defend herself.

From the sound of it, I guess then I don't really have to submit an updated bio, although it would be nice to fix that odd glitch halfway through  I'll draft something up, and send it to ya, basically just scratches off a bit of the specific ness, and gives a glossy overview of post-Yard arrival.

The old boards are goooooooone. I lost a shit ton of RPs and archives from when EZbitch was hacked. Most of the DM boards were lost in that hack, the OOC lost some too but weren't hit as hard. :( There is one that dates back a little... But since it changed hands (again) even the old stuff has been mostly wiped unless there was some activity over some space of time. :(

We'd be happy to have you. Old guards are good guards. Dunno if I can drag Ghaul/Daemon back. Boy's pretty busy.

That's very unfortunate, lotta info on those boards.... however I think my Google-fu has proven it's worth, pretty certain I found my first Sedai's bio in the wikia under the Green Ajah, Calliste Lara le Fay. Close on the name, but without the old ezboards and the other old RP archives, I can't be 100% certain, without someone else from that rough era, or I think it was a Corwin/Cormag/similar.

  7. Does anyone know if the old ezboards still exist? I need to find the name of my first Sedai, think it was Celeste but I'd like to confirm that before I write it into an updated bio or notepad for records. Nuitari feels alot like Lan, if I remember my char history properly post-arrival at the Yards.

He took 2 classes, promoted to Guardsman and was Bonded by Celeste (a Green). Celeste was murdered by Black Ajah while Nuit was out of the city training a student. He threw himself into a training frenzy, to explain why he didn't suicide as I didn't want to pretcon being Bonded. Goes on a large Tower expedition, critically wounded and Bonded by Ata then a Yellow Sedai. Ata later got Severed, cutting the Bond yet again, although she was later Healed and re-Bonds Nuitari also switching to Green Ajah. Somewhere around this rough period, had a fling with an Accepted who later became a full Sister Bond was never transferred and Nuitari stayed with his Sedai who after her experiences was an avid Darkfriend hunter.

Sometime after all that, Ata is on the trail of a Darkfriend/Black Aja, memories are slightly hazy, and both of them are captured. Over time Nuitari is flipped to the Dark, and personally executes Ata before being Bonded by Cemarillin (same owner of Ata).

Of course I've also done quite a bit more than that, but those are highlights I remember. Last known status of Nuitari, I'd grown disinterested in DM and left but to mutual agreement with my Sedai, Nuitari was left in a coma and I think I'd toyed with coming back so I had come out of it

God No... in 98/99 Alin wasn't even around and if he was he was just a trainee.  One of my first!

98/99 Ben T Gaidin ran the Warders.

    Then I took over.

Alin didn't take over until the split happened. 2000 ish cause

I remember Ben T... pretty sure he was my Warder's instructor for the 2 classes I'd needed to get out of trainee status.

Crap.... I'll be right back, getting us all walkers and canes. We apparently need them *laughs*

  9. To answer your earlier question Cass, the "Koras Lap" is a legacy of one of our older Asha'men who went AWOL just as I joined (this was pre-Dalinar, I think the BT leader at the time was Niamh Zephan). Anyways, Koras was a real hardass, and the original Koras Lap was running around the outer edge of 'the Farm', before we eventually built the stone walls and started building the Black Tower. And it wasn't simply just running one lap around the entire Farm, it was running three laps which made up one Koras Lap. Additionally, I can't remember but I believe it was also loosely timed, based on a jog, so Soldiers and even Dedicated couldn't simply walk a Koras Lap out and make the timer. Or not without receiving some form of punishment for slacking anyways.

It was a gruelling marathon run, almost specially intended to exhaust everybody before they even got started on other PT exercises, keeping everyone in a walking daze. Which had the added perk of making it considerably easier to write in how a fellow (NPC) soldier loses control of Saidin and dies nearby, which held true to the books that the Black Tower was brutal about training.

Anyways, so Koras made a big impression on several of us that went through his PT classes before he vanished into the nether, and so Covai and myself (a few others as well) once we hit Dedicated, started using the Koras Lap as teaching tools in our own classes. We taught Arath and several others, who themselves went on to use the Koras Lap when they were teaching. It became almost a rite of passage, to get promotions you had to run at least one Koras Lap in a class, and it also became almost a pre-breakfast warmup run for full Asha'men to jog out a Koras Lap before sitting down at the Inn for a hot meal to start the day off right.

  10. I'm just waiting on an email to the old BTBios, hoping that someone still checks it, and my old bio(s) are archived.

Once upon a time, I was the M'Hael Haran to Dalinar's M'hael, participated in the Taking of the Stone, was also supposed to be part of the Asha'men to accompany the DR into the Aiel Waste (before diplomacy took it's toll), was also at several other battles.

On a non-battle sense, was one of the students of Koras before he left, and subsequently helped turn the Koras Lap into near legendary exercise it grew to become (is that still a thing here?), helped build the original Inn, helped build and became part-owner of several replacement Inn's as it was a seeming favourite building to destroy during incursions and attacks.

  11. Since I'm sure one of the Staff types will eventually look into this thread, do we have TPC Ashies to use for training and can I get access to bio's?

Dash is a little high rank to look after the new recruits, but I can always use the TPC instead

  12. Dashiva scowled slightly at the younger Asha'man's remark as he made his way over to the wall, but shrugged it off with a rare smile and chuckled himself. "Well, least it's a lively group," he replied before he waved his hand in a small shooing motion, and let the man get the recruits organized for falling in.

Meanwhile, Dashiva's gaze glazed over as he started thinking, and remembering his early times as a recruit and the hardships and occasional melee's that had been involved. Blinking a few times, he shrugged and made his way through the recruits, and the uniformed Soldiers and Dedicated's who were grabbing a meal prior to going off to training. He rarely had to actually bull through anymore, the markings on his uniform and his sheer size was usually enough to clear a small path to move through.

Standing outside the inn, Dashiva permitted another small smile to touch upon his lips as he considered whether to inflict the Koras laps on the recruits now, or at a later time. Thumbing a pipe of tabac, he channeled briefly to light it, and proceeded to wait knowing he could rely on the Asha'man still inside to tend to matters and bring the recruits out.

OOC: Arath, want to hit me with a PM of how we actually greet newbies nowadays? I don't think the old ways still apply

  13. Yup, I think I was given the oldbie return greeting a little while back.

*hands Seia a new cane and walker* I was given these as well, think the young'uns think we need them

My updated bio just got approved, and I need to get my toes wet as Nuit again.

  14. patience man, from what I understand some of the Warder staff have some RL concerns that take a bit of priority. I understand you want to get into RP, I was waiting a week for my updated bio on my char who is about 5 years old now to be approved.

  15. *makes a mental note to stick uncle Skechy in a rubber room connected to a perpetual motion device*

    You bounce a lot *nods*

Anyways, I'm Jay. Known on my paintball team as Nuit (pronounced Newt, like the lizard) yes its a contraction of my Warder's name, but its more because I ambush from really really tiny places, and/or from under water than solely because of my Warder.

I'm a Canuck, from the capital. Been off and on homeless like my entire time on DM, but usually by choice (why pay for summers that are nice and warm when there's plenty of good camping spots?)

Also back in training to enlist, so yes Im almost as much a badass as Dashiva is when it comes to PT.

  16. "No baijin'm'hael, just these two. I've just been stuck baby sitting while they waited here. Looks like you made quite a haul this time. Remind me to never go wherever you just came from," Daevis was saying. Dashiva grunted sourly, before rolling his shoulders. "Sometimes I wonder if the previous recruiters actually tried given this haul," he grumbled.

Wandering into the back of the kitchen, Dashiva barked at some of the cooks that seemed to have appeared, and got them producing some more food for the newest recruits, and came back out into the common room intending on filling out a report and stopped as he noticed a scuffle. He started to seize saidin but then thought better after realising this was entirely a fist fight between recruits.

Shaking his head as he momentarily felt Daevis doing the same, the large Shienaran pushed around the edges to stand near the younger man. "Let them settle things out a little bit," he muttered just loud enough for the Asha'man to hear. "I don't know about your two babies, but the new Border recruits need to put some steam off."

Folding his arms over his chest, he leaned back against a wall. The Inn was half formed using the Power, and a fistfight was going to do little harm except to some pride, and a few relatively easily replaced items. He heard some of the bets starting to flow, and his fingers twitched slightly. He'd hidden for some years as both guard and merchant, and betting was something he'd taken to doing here and there. Rolling his head and hearing the cracks roll out, he rolled his shoulders again.

Seeing the Saldean recruit take a cheap shot and stumble back onto a table and then lunge forwards, brandishing a knife was all he needed, and he had both combatants encased in Air, and shoved through the crowds to twist the knife out of the frozen Saldeans hand. "That's enough," he snapped, flows of Air and Fire enhancing his voice to boom through the inside of the Inn and then dissipating. "Save that energy for the enemy, not each other," he continued knowing he had most if not all their attention.

Tossing the knife into a nearby pillar, he glanced around the recruits. Slowly releasing the fighters, he gave them both a cold look. "Now shake hands," he growled coldly. "There may be a day, your back may be guarded by the other and holding a grudge is only going to get us all kiled."

  17. OOC: Guess I'll be the handy AL to handle this.

IC: Dashiva grumbled under his breath as he grouped up the latest group of recruits he had Tested, and dragged around on his assigned route. He hadn't been in a recruiting party in years, and almost wanted to be back in his small study. Unlike many Asha'man, he generally disdained cloaks while he was going about official Tower business and simply wore his blacks. Snapping at the newest Borderlander recruit's, he reached out and seized saidin and gripped it tightly bending to his will and opening the Gateway back to the Tower.

"Go slowly, and side by side," he ordered the new recruits, his voice flat and face entirely impassive. Carefully the big Shienaran adjusted his weaves, and sure enough a pair of new recruits got the last minute shakes and tried to run and he clubbed their legs then heads before they got far. "You had your chance to back out before testing Recruits," he snapped, nearing the end of his patience. "Go through the Gateway, and you will be fed and trained."

Turning around, he glanced once more around the empty farm in the Borderlands, and spat off to the side before stepping through the Gateway, leading his tall Shienaran stock warhorse through, and closing the Gateway behind it. Glancing around sourly, he glanced around the Travelling Grounds and then pointed the Inn. "Go in there, if there isn't hot food waiting, there will be soon," he instructed.

Passing the reins off to a nearby Soldier who was from the Borderlands as well, Dashiva followed the new recruits, trying to be patient with the gawking new recruits and glanced quickly around his domain of the Inn as he stepped in behind his recruits and closed the door. Pointing out a table, "there's a few other recruits there, have a seat and get to know your fellow men."

Nodding at the nearby Asha'man, he cudgelled his brain until the name came around, "Daevis, are there anymore running around?"

OOC: not my best, I'll get in practice eventually.

  18. sounds like as good a place as any  so I can just skip forwards a little bit and assume I've been doing Baijin'm'hael type things for a while now. I refuse to take back on being in charge of the new guys, that was Skechy's job anyways. He was so much better at terrifying the new recruits.

Z can have his position back of keeping them in line, you psychotic..... *hands Z a very large mug of beer* amazing guy he is.

Maybe Dash can just hold the position of attempting to replace Kor, even though that has apparently taken on self-regulation. Yes, Dashiva is quite lost as to his role now...

  19. I would reply, but honestly I forget what situation I left with as Dash  so posting right now would be a bad thing... and most of my DM thoughts have been on trying to get my Warder reactivated and having to recall the his old details to update that bio.

But now to delegate.... Arath what state did I leave Dashiva in
