Thor's hammer was impressive. Indeed.
I wonder if any of those Darkhounds were the unkillable T-1000 type that Perrin wrecked.
I would have loved to see the Gholam vs. T-1000, that battle would have continued for a very long time. Hope to see this in a video game at least.

It is RJ's series, of course he would have done better, especially with his background.
Could another author have done better than Brandon? Debateable, but I find it very doubtful. The scale and scope of WoT would have made that difficult.
I am just glad the series was finished.

Gawyn sneak attack succeeding (very realistic given he had on 3 RINGS) or Lan gets near him via stealth...Demandred attacks with the Power and is shocked and gets stabbed through the heart by Lan.
Not realistic that he would have one-on-one fights with 3 bladeamasters, like some anime movie or that he would be an insanely great bladeamaster. Blademastery in AoL was merely a sport, Demandred may have killed a few dozen with a Power wrought blade during the 10 year War of Power.
One Power fight would have been futile, unless it was Rand+Callandor. With the 2nd most powerful sa'angreal+72 channeler, almost LTT, even Fain with Mashadar would have lost. Mashadar was nowhere near as vast as Shadar Logoth.
"Realistically" of course, given Demandred's sa'angreal+72 channelers and abilites/almost LTT, he would have wrecked the Light armies, gone to SG and finish the Light armies there, kill the distracted Rand et al, finish off Fain. The series ends. The series ends like a horror movie, that would have been cool. Only thing that could stop Demandred was Rand+Callandor (no buffer)...but such a struggle would have depleted Rand or burned him out...
The entire problem boils down to this: Demandred was build up for so long and given his tools, even RJ would have trouble imo.

Forgive the butchered quote, this is from memory:
'If you have a sword, and an Aiel has his hands and feet, its an even fight. If you're good.'
Yes, the Aiel were far under utlized for sure, from their tiny presence and the Wise Ones pretty much being absent in the battle field.
There should have been 400,000-500,000 Aiel and at least 2,000 Wise Ones that can channel. The Shadio alone had roughly 400 Wise Ones that can channel, one clan!
Gaul took out 8 armed men by himself in book2...While he is a top tier Aiel, the Aiel are considered the best fighters in WoT and they played a minor part.
I always found Sanderson's Aiel a bit off, from Soriela to Amys. The Aiel are complex, so this is not a big deal, however, their numbers were butchered in AMOL.

If the Wheel goes for an infinite cycles, anything is possible with infinity. Female Dragon wielding saidin, men being weaker having to link, oh yeah. I can see that.
-
Not entirely true friend. Rand in fact attempted to blow up a battlefront, and help out Rand, but they had channelers going straight for him whenever they saw him. Also, with demandred in a full circle, it's doubtful Rand would attack - thats why only the non-channelers had any luck with kicking his butt. Logain had a serious issue.
With no Shai'tan, the DR would have gone all out, use Callandor, game over. The Power, skill and abilities of the DR is unmatched, expect in TAR. The Forsaken are hardly a match for a farmboy, let alone LTT, forget about Rand Sedai.
Callandor, it has no buffer, at one point the amount of saidin wielded was greater than at the Cleansing (according to Logain's PoV). He would smash Demandred and his little sa'angreal, full cirlce and his armies, main threat over. Moridin of course will send reinforcements and come himself and get his ass whooped, again. Lanfear will get angry, throw a fit, make a futile attempt and die. Grandael and Moghdien will smartly flee in terror. Taim? Androl will finish him off, that sneaky little Gateway guy!
After which, the DR would be dead tired from all the ass whooping and the Light forces would have to clean up the peasant leftovers, uh, Shadow followers.
With the final book done, there will be time for more ($$$). Rand Sedai will need to find and kill Grandael and Moghdien, those two sneaky little women (this could be whole other series!). Mat and Tuon, Seanchan. Lan and Nyaneve, rebuilding Malkier....etc
-
The Light side channelers were hampered, given that around 3000 decided to miss the Last Batle and take a trip to Lala Land.
If Shai'tan wasn't around, Rand Sedai by himself would have wrecked the Dark Side Force, uhh, Demandred and his armies.

Top battles:
1/ Lan vs. Demandred
2/ Perrin vs. Slayer
3/ Lan vs. 2 Myddraal
4/ Demandred vs. Gawyn
5/ Demandred vs. Galad
Lan was more pivotal than Mat in the Light vs. Shadow. Without taking out Demandred, the Light forces were doomed at FoM and I think Mat mentions this in his PoV.
Rand vs. Shai'tan sucked, same with Rand vs. Moridin, Mat vs. Fain. Grandael vs. Teams was good.
What the entire series lacked was a prolonged epic Power battle...I was hoping Moridin or Demandred would provide that vs. Rand.

At this point, I don't give a damn. They/Team Jordan can keep that worthless "knowledge" to themseleves.
-
By playing numerous strategy games such as Starcraft, Warcraft etc..., I am indeed a battle hardened general.
Btw, wtf were the Light forces thinking?
-
WoT the numbers are off, especially the number of channelers.
There should be at least 2500 Wise Women that can channel for the Aiel, which is about 1/2 of the Shadio clan.
The Seanchan should have at least 1000 damane, looked like they had 1/2 that.
The Sharan army was overly exaggerated, no way it should have been bigger than the Seanchan.
I can understand Trollocs in the multiple millions but the Light channelers were there to offset some of the Shadow's far superior numbers...instead it appears they were barely equal in size to the Shadow channelers.
The size of the Trolloc Armies were never stated, but likely around 1 million for each front. The Sharan army, probably 1 million as well. Shadow Forces, 5 million. The Light Forces, 1.5 million or so.

Bela dying was great.
Egwene dying was better.
I always like to see a high death toll for the final novel of a series.
-
Nynaeve was quite annoying in the earlier books, but has improved greatly and now she is one my favourite characters. Elayne has become just tolerable. Egwene, maybe she can deliver in AMOL, but up to this point, she has been an ignorant and arrogant child.
-
Egwene certainly fits these new AS mold and the Pattern choose the right woman.
A thoroughly dislikeable character.
-
I think one of the biggest problems with Egwene is that she has come to embody every negative trait of the White Tower. She has a double dose of Aes Sedai arrogance, and a complete inability to relate to others.
The difference between Egwene and Nynaeve is that Nynaeve is fully aware of her own shortcomings andy hypocrisies, and struggles to correct them (usually). Egwene can't or won't ... she seems to thrive off of them.

Not sure why this was brought back up but anyone who goes back in this thread can see it was soundly refuted at the time.
Didn't realize this thread was that old.
Regardless, Egwene is an arrogant kid that rubs nearly all the readers the wrong way, beside a handful of her ardent fans.
I do give her credit for enduring and becoming the Amyrlin.

I wish Tuon and the Seanchan would all die off.
Egwene is just an annoying pretenious girl.
-
Little sister. I took it to mean his lesser...would not be considered a full AS in AoL.
Bear in mind that all the Forsaken consider these AS to be little more than children.
-
Taller than an average bear.

With carbon nanotubes, 10,000 feet structures are not far off.
It is impressive that these primitives are able to create a structure 500 feet.

Russia gave him problems as well. The Aiel mistake was bringing in the soft wetlanders into the battle. They were easily conquered, they reaped many damane = end of the Aiel, far too many channelers to fight against. Think of Europe and the easy time Hitler had with all the countries except the UK.Yes, Russia did.
Hitler made the same mistake Napoleon did.
-
After TG, the Randlanders have gotten soft and weak. Think of Europe after WWI, much reduced military spending, peace and hippie love garbage = inevitable death and defeat.
Seanchan are warriors, their societal structure = dominance and victory.
Seanchan will use any tactic for victory, Genghis Khan style.
The Aiel are warrior,s their societal structure = dominance and victory. However, unlike the Seanchan, their honor code is more strict.

He went all Neo. Woah.
-
Graendel would mind rape people.
Mesaana would have children killing their own parents.
Lanfear started releasing the dark one.
Semirhage forced people to tortue people.
I would say that Semirhage is the vilest and most evil of the Forsaken, followed closely by Grandael.
Semirhage was always corrupted, serial killer type before the War started.
Who is your favorite character in WOT?

Lan, Mat, Cadusane, Lanfear, Ishamael, Rand, Perrin and Nyaneve...possibly in that order.
I like the way Cadusane toyed with everyone. She was so badass, probably could have fought everyone one-on-one with the exception of uber Rand and TP Ishamael.
