Fan Art Friday: Perrin Aybara

JenniferL

Welcome back to another Fan Art Friday. This week, I'm nursing a pretty nasty cold, so my comments will be brief so I can go back to bed. See how I suffer for you, Wheel of Time fans.

This one just makes me go "Oooh!" It's a very nice painting of Perrin and a wolf by TheKarelia. Despite Faile's attempts to clean him up a bit, Perrin still thinks of himself as a village lad. Fan art tends to reflect that, placing him in rural or rustic settings. Perrin just belongs out in the woods somewhere.

Another gorgeous painting, this one by Dragonmount member Seeshi_suin. This is Perrin pre-Failoe, obviously. Note the lack of beard.

The composition on this one is really interesting to me. Perrin would normally get the focus, since he's one of Our Heroes. But instead liruichen focused on Aram, the underling, who saves Perrin's life during the Battle of the Two Rivers.

To round things off, here's a study done by Toraneko. This Perrin is suitably shaggy.

By the way, if you aren't in the habit of coming back to these after I post them, several posters (especially SaraV) have made it a habit to find and post their own favorite fan art based on whatever theme I picked that week. Since I have a self imposed limit of just three or four pieces in every article, this is a good way to see things I might have missed. Also, we recently updated the software for Dragonmount's Gallery. It's easier than ever to find artwork, or even upload your own to share with friends.

And now I'm going back to bed.

i believe that is rand, not Aram (see the missing arm)though i have to admit i cant imagine rand wearing such tinkerish colors :) but a great portrayal nonetheless

I love the one by liruichen - especially with the subtle focus on Perrin's golden eyes. Genius!

ReluctantaAlpha, if you click through to liruchen's gallery, you'll see the name of the piece is "Aram Saves Perrin." So there.

o hai!

II feel remiss, because I haven't been able to chime in with my own personal selections, but I was really, really busy (I just moved).

For some reason, pictures of Perrin Aybara don't engender all that much interest for me because I don't think anyone gets him close to how *I* see him.

Here are a few, however:

Hamilton Cline's"Perrin Posing" in black and white.

Although it's very Comic-booky, I still cleave this version of all three taveren to my heart, becauuse they all look so very badass.

I also still adore this one of Perrin, Faile and Loial, which is also very roughly done, but I just really like the build on Perrin, Faile's unthematic split skirt and teh scale of Loia ;) (Rich Boye's old versions)

whoops - hit 'submit' by accident:

Here's another of my favorites from Hamilton Cline's ellfwood page - a very savage and feral Perrin.

And no survey of Perrin fan-art would be complete without Helena Zeegers iconic "So, Perrin - rumour has it you can talk to wolves?"

Shoot, that's twice that someone thought Aram was missing an arm. I meant it to be just nonchalantly tucked behind his back as he slid in for the kill. Ohs well
