SCOOBY GAME THREAD - TOWN WINS

You have given me no reason to trust you.  You and Mantis played a terrible game, were lynched, and now you want everyone to send you all their info so that you and Mantis can piece it together.  I'd rather not have you and Mantis running the show.  I don't care that you two claim to be the "only confirmed town," you've given me no reason to believe that you and your partner in crime are competent enough to look at the information, let alone sort through it and lead the town with your tweedle dee, tweedle dum routine that you have going on.  I play my cards close to the chest, especially in a DPR game, and if you can't deal with that then you better start preparing for the incoming apoplexia.

Burn!  I think I love you a little for this post.

I'm confirmed townie. So is MANTIS. If that's not a good reason for you to trust me, then I'm not sure what is.

Your play is anti-town. I don't think you can deny, or even debate that.

I think that denying to claim to us (in other words, denying to play pro-town) is a good enough reason to get lynched, regardless of play, even alignment. This is a very simple situation in a way.

I dont' think mafia are stealing from people.  But it wouldn't be hard for you and Witch to both be mafia and claim stealing to "validate" both of you.

As for your plan, at least the idea of a watcher seems reasonable.

We literally have no idea how to properly scumhunt yet.  You think scum would put themselves out there like that when town is this confused?  I don't.

REALLY?

We don't know the mechanics properly.  If I stole from you and was caught, does that make you scum?  We don't think so (somebody said DPR said no - I haven't confirmed - he's had enough questions from me already).  But we don't know exactly how it works.

You, on the other hand, aren't really hunting much.  No pushing and prodding - no unexplained votes to gauge reactions like you normally do.  I want your suit validated.  That means lynching your one-eyed lump of goo.

Thank you Mr. Dactyl.  Your respect does wonders for my critical view on the younger generation.

And look at that, I have 19.  I'm moving up in my old age.

Why are you refusing to send your actions to the confirmed townies?

Why do you refuse to clarify your PTERO claims?

Ah, Wax-on, you do persist.

I wish you would Wax-off, but since you seem committed to bothering me...

Mr. Dactyl has played, in my opinion, a scummy game of scumminess.  It is known.

As to the former, I have this to say:

Scum.

Careful, we still haven't decided whether to test the alignment of you and your little Zombie yet.

We have.

No test yet.

"We" would be you and Mantis.

The "We" I refer to is the rest of the town.  What's better than 2 confirmed townies?  Three.  At some point, one of these suits will be controlled by scum.  There are only so many double-alts in the game.  Chance are reasonable that Tar Monster is scum based on that.

I'm cool with the Charlie train today, but we should be really thinking about validating Tar/Zombie tomorrow.

Chances are garbage based on that.  DPR already shot down the idea that I'm the only suit left which means by pure random luck, if there were only one other suit out there, you might have a 50% chance of lynching scum if you lynched me.  I believe there are still at least 3 suits in play.

People should stop gaming the setup and start scumhunting.

Bringing the meta in now are we?

In that case, how about I remind you of your constant rants against Role Madness and Kitchen Sink games because they distract from real scumhunting.  We've had 4 lynches so far, one of them a scum lynch.  How about you show us some of that "real scumhunting" you're always going on about.

I've been doing that.  I analyzed the action around the Mummy lynch and Charlie and Pterodactyl looked particularly bad.

Umm.....I'm cool with a 50/50 shot at hitting scum.  Are you?

I don't think there are so many suits that there are more than 4-5 in the game....we know 2.....so then your lynch would be either 50% or 33%.......both of which I'm ok with.

Trying to debate that? Try me.

Some players are holding back information that can't help maffia and might help catching scum. That is because actions can be cross-checked and validated.

By refusing to comply, these players hurt town directly (by removing information from the game) and they hurt town indirectly (by helping scum getting away with the same thing).

These players are either town playing for the Scum MVP prize, or scum.

I don't believe it is in town's best interest to leave these players alive.

You're forgetting that Wes' games are not like the Kitchen Sink games I rant about.  Those game cram everything in there, including the kitchen sink, hence the moniker.  You've seen enough come through to you, so you know exactly what I mean when I say those games are not like this one.  Wes does NOT do that.  His setups are intricate, with a simple mafia game underneath.  But you need to figure your way through the layers before you know the scumhunting you're doing is accurate.

No, I'm not trying to debate.  I'm trying to politely ask you zip your waxy lip for a few minutes.

I think we should let COFFIN go.

I find him unlikely to be scum and if he's town, killing him wouldn't really yield any useful information, unfortunately.

Every time I've tried to game Wes I've failed.  As both town and scum.  (last Suras game, Dark Monocle, Jaws, Ghost Mafia all come to mind).

Most times that I scumhunt I succeed.

I could be wrong, yes.  As to the trap, the chances are high that there are not 2 scum in it.  I know my alignment, so there you go.  Do scum control the traps?  My guess is yes - that is kinda the flavor for what Fred does.

Is the trap for 2 townies?  Maybe.  Are the being cute and tossing a scum in there to attempt a vet 'till endgame?  Maybe.  All maybes.  Nothing I'm saying is certain - I'm playing the chances here.

Does that help clarify my thought process?

I acknowledge that you are mostly correct there.  I've tried to game his setups, too.  I succeeded once, in a Suras game, and it got me to endgame....where I died anyway.  But it helped.  Understanding some of the mechanics can help us.  Like the damn van.  If we control the mirrors, do you agree that more Cop views would be useful?

I'm not convinced the scum are targeting with typical abilities.  If the town moves in unison, the extra bit of knowledge the scum gain will pale in comparison to what the town would gain.  Agreed?

Also, wtf is a flashlight?  Is that a Cop viewing?

A few idle thoughts I'm having while waiting on NA's:

Out of 18 roles assigned at the start of the game, 9 remain. No Cop views remain.

I've used Mirrors before (don't really remember when, or where it came from) but the Magistrate role was created for this game. In that spirit, I have created additional roles for Phase II.

Piñata - This role holds an unspecified number of roles, but cannot use any of them. Upon the Piñata's lynch, the roles will be dispersed at random.

Stunt-Doubler - The Stunt-Doubler will be able to choose another player to have arrested if they get caught stealing.

Flashlight - The Flashlight works when the holder names a member of the Scooby Gang, and then points the light at another player. A Yes or No will confirm whether that player is the name given.

Coder - The Coder can choose any player to have to post in Morse Code the following day (similar to the Silencer role).

Bear Trap - The Bear Trap is a day-action, and is exactly what it sounds like. The mafia will choose players to be trapped and then a majority vote (per each trapped player) will be necessary to release them. Should a majority not be reached, that player will be arrested. This vote will be in addition to the lynch vote.

There may be additional Cop roles assigned. There may be Doc roles. There might be other stuff. You just never know...

Sounds good huh?  I may have trouble pressing the button with my tarry appendages.  Maybe DPR can hook me up with a voice-activated one.

I was wondering why that sounded familiar.  Nice, but you need to guess the exact member of the gang....you could be looking at Daphne but guess Velma and miss on an opportunity to find scum.

I would not have admitted that - you realize the Ape's best reads are his early ones, right?
