"Low as in 5% - that's pretty low. On the other hand, it might be the first role the mafia would fake claim, seeing how important it is and all."

Maybe. It's the last role they should claim though. Basically means that if they want be able to count on their kills going through at endgame, they have to sacrifice a member.

"No one asked you what you would do - your actions are not being discussed (yet). The question is why would Moridin do what he did? Putting together a case based on his actions seems like a good idea since there is a 95% likelihood he is not the Doc."

Well I'm not Moridin so I can't very well tell you why he did anything. I can speculate though.

If town: Saw allegedly scummy votes and decided to get into the fray because he can't be easily nightkilled. Inadvisable and it backfired.

If scum: Saw allegedly scummy votes and decided to get into the fray to look more town. Inadvisable and it backfired.

Neither of those seem like good reasons to get involved to me. His play has been questionable regardless of his alignment.

"Hence my mention of it. And not in a good way."

WHOOSH

"Cop is also an important role, I think, and Cops are expected to reveal if they find mafia. But you are happy to let scum ride through the game? I think that the mafia are glad you are playing the game"

Maybe you expect that. Personally I prefer my cops to try to get their first guilty lynched by casing rather than outright claiming.

Also, the 95% argument is specious. More on this in my next post.

5% chance that any given player is the doc. Approximately 25% chance that any given player is scum (going by rule of thumb). That means a player is 5 times more likely to be scum than to be the doc. 5 to 1 odds (which translates to an 83.3% chance that Moridin is scum if you rule out the possibility that he is fake claiming as town).

I think it is somewhat safe to rule out Moridin fake claiming as town.

So in all likelihood, the odds of Moridin being scum are, although still high, significantly lower than you would have everyone believe. So now we can do a risk-reward analysis.

This is of course ignoring other aspects of Moridin's gameplay.

You talk out of your backside worse than anyone else I can think of.

UNVOTE.

Not exactly buying the claim. But I'm willing to listen to arguments.

I'm seeing some wholes already and I'll dissect those later.

Just as an FYI there has been some recent precedence for a townee fake claiming Doc but this situation does not warrant it. It would be better to go ahead and die.

Oh really? I would be curious to see this precedent.

I think it was Basil's game. Not sure what forum. Maby Thak? It was towards the end of the game.

How about we all discuss what has happened and then let the group make a decision? I have brought up some questions that I would like to know everyone's thoughts on. I am not ready to recommend or to go along with any action yet. Let each player share their thoughts before anyone does anything.

I've seen people intentionally act scummy with power roles, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

Meh, I already said this before, I didn't stick up for Rand. You could have inserted "Generic Player X" and I would have made the same argument.

Not really a case of sticking up for RH, more a case of seeing obvious scum using scummy reasoning to pull off a scummy lynch. It could have been anyone who made the slip, I would still call it out. Principles, people.

As for the Doc supposedly sitting back and not calling out scummy behavior, why don't I just go take a three day nap and just wait for Night to actually play the game? That's the most absurd logic I've ever heard. Are you seriously suggesting that I not make cases and vote for players that exhibit scummy behavior? What's the point in even playing then? The fact that I have a role shouldn't just send me into hibernation for fear that someone might actually disagree with me.

Also, it's been a few hours since I stated what role I have. Haven't seen a hint of a CC yet. Kinda makes ya think don't it?

What is your character that will help my judgement of your claim.

Arez did it in the pokemon game as well

For now, I will go back to my original suspect

unvote vote SH

Close enough. Didn't want it to come to this but L2 is too close for comfort.

I'm the Doc. Carry on.

Uh huh. Don't really believe it, but unvote for now. If you're scum you'll get run up eventually.

Oh and don't try to act like you were only doing what any doc would do in a game. You were needlessly making yourself stand out, and as Lanny said you came out way too strong in defense of another player for Day 1. Plus, it was really stupid the way you tried to come out and say Graendal was flailing cause she was posting more. Weakest argument of the game so far.

For now, I believe Moridin because, as I have said before, I almost never vote an unCCed doc. However, I would encourage the doc to counterclaim since we will get mafia and the doc can protect his or herself.

Aaaaaaaand we have the famous Rand scum slip yet again. Vote SH

Also kind of supports my disbelief of Moridin's doc claim, but as scummy as Moridin is looking right now I'm not quite willing to risk lynching a claimed doc, at least not until more info comes to light.

And yes, it's possible that Moridin is a townie fake claiming Doc, but in this case it would still be an anti-town move. I have about as much inclination to keep anti-town townies in the game as I do to keep scum in the game.

Behind on my reading; I'll catch up soon. Had some technical difficulties involving a dead battery. But even what I've caught up to makes me want to vote Shaidar Haran. If he's actually Rand, then both his slip and the subsequent flailing are highly scummy. Every game I've played with him, when he's made a slip like that he's been scum. I know we're not supposed to be using meta, but it's way too obvious. And Moridin is being scummy too. I've only got three more pages to be caught up; be there in a few minutes.

I am Poetstorm, Signature Forum Admin and Town Doctor.

What I sugest is the cop view Moridin tonight, even if he is scum hold onto the information a few days until you get a couple of views under your belt and we will revisit the Moridin case then if you get scum on Moridin

Well, I have no desire to break Rule #12, so I can't exactly copy/paste my Role PM. But I assure you, that's what it says. Was Poet formerly an Admin maybe? Red is old school after all.

Redacting my FOS on Moridin. It's too risky to lynch an un-CCed Doc. Besides, in a previous game (BG's Super Smash Bros.) the Cop was scummy all game and still turned out to be who he said he was. We spent days waiting for a CC, but it never came. I'm willing to believe Moridin.

Well at least this game you will realize that I make mistakes as both scum and town, I am going to go check how close I am to getting lynched.

I'm getting deja vu of the Super Smash Bros game. Where you said practically the same stuff. And you were scum.
