Sneaking into the Gardens (attn Vera)

Ran still heared the voice in his head. The voice that told him how lovely the White Towre gardens were. For Ran it was a great experience to sneak to the gardens and check things out there. The words said to him were quite promising so Ran was on his way to see for himself how great the gardens are. He was free that afternoon from training. He thanked his mentor for that, as he had done nothing but training in the past days. No afternoon off at all, so Ran was pleased he could do something else than sword practice, and running around the yards.

Ran realised he was wisteling when he walked in the direction of the Tower. He stopped immediatly when he realised. He didn't want to pull any attention, he just wanted to go to the gardens unnoticed and he hoped no one would ask him what he was going to do. Lying wasn't something he liked to do. He just did most of the time, because he could do nothing else. At least not something that wouldn't get him knocking at the door of the Mistress of Trainees. He'd rather not go there to often.

Ran had asked where the gardens were to be found, and walked in the direction he thought was right. If he was right, he was close to the gardens now. "Here left and then I should see them." Ran said quietly to himself. Walking that direction he could see the gardens. The green, very lovely gardens. The sun just broke through the clouds and made it look even more beautiful. Ran had stopped walking when he saw the gardens. When a chill wind blew through his hair and made him shiver for a short moment he started walking again. He walked into the gardens and started a tour through them. He just walked and enjoyed the lovely view of the flowers, bushes, trees and birds. Birds that sang their songs. "Beautiful," Ran said to the birds who resonded on Ran's appearance by flying away to a high tree a few foot away from him.

Colour.

Yes, that was exactly what Vera felt surrounded her at the moment: swirls and swirls of sheer colour. Gentle slopes of grass were stretched out before her, some occasionally dotted with the Novice white and others yet had chanced upon lovely dresses of silk, the varieties in shade making her gasp. She herself stood on one of those slopes, the banded hem of her dress rippling slightly in the wind as she continued to lean against the tall, broad trunk. Tilting her head slightly she studied the Tower, never failing to be observed by its superior design or how perfectly shadow and light came to rest on its proud structure. White shadows indeed.

She had been sitting here like this, whiling away time for at least a good hour now. Not that she would like to call it a waste. This was time she loved and appreciated the most every week. Being able to sit like this, alone and fresh and watch the world go by her in a heavy mass of colour….so very lovely. With reluctance she tore away her eyes from the lulling landscape and glanced at her most recent sketch. It was of a young Trainee she had spotted just a few minutes ago as he turned the corner, completely unaware of the fact that he was being observed. Or sketched for that matter, she thought with a small smile. He was quite tall- much taller than her at any rate, but then, she acknowledged ruefully, most were. Quite handsome, she found herself admitting as she continued to shade his face. She wondered what he was doing in the gardens. It wasn’t like he was allowed in here if Vera remembered correctly. But still…what does it matter, she thought lightheartedly- he had found himself a most pleasant walk and she had found someone to draw. A symbiotic relationship indeed, she thought with a wry grin.

"Beautiful,"

Startled by the voice, she jumped slightly, immediately letting go of the thin sketchbook. Only to pick it up but a moment later. What in the name of….Who in the name of Light was that? Turning around slightly, her head tilted slightly, she looked up.

And found herself staring straight at the Trainee. The same Trainee.

Colouring furiously, she rose smoothly from the grass mound, her hands still clutching the sketch protectively. Was it coincidence….or just stupidity on her part? To think that she’d been sitting there innocently sketching away with all concentration. Light, had he seen the picture? Looking down aghast at the open page of her sketchbook, she felt a slow red streak run down her back and then slowly her face and arms as well. Looking up, she found him staring at her and if she wasn’t wrong, the book as well.

“It isn’t what you think! Not at all! I was just…just…The Tower’s quite exquisite isn’t it?†she finished helplessly.

Ran walked between the coloured flowers in the gardens of the White Tower. He'd seen nice flowers and gardens from where he was from, but never he had seen a garden like this. Suddenly Ran saw an Accepted sitting on a bench. A pretty nice Accepted it was. Ran saw that she was holding a sketch in her hand. She'd sketched a ... peculiar form. Which should become the Tower.

Before Ran could say anything at all the girl started to mutter. “It isn’t what you think! Not at all! I was just…just…The Tower’s quite exquisite isn’t it?†The Accepted started to turn red. Ran noticed, and smiled a little hoping it wouldn't look rude. He made an imposant bow and said "Goodafternoon Accepted, my name is Ran Arosho I hope you won't mind to take place next to you?" Before the Accepted could answer Ran already sat. "I guess that," Ran pointed at the sketch. "Will become the Tower." Now Ran openly smiled. "The Tower is beautiful. As are you, Accepted. Would you mind telling me your name?" Ran looked her in the eyes. The girl was pretty nice indeed. Ran had to be careful what he was going to say, but not everyone liked his behaviour. Though mostly he was able to keep out of trouble. He hoped he would this time as well.

It was with a mixture of relief and surprise that Vera took in the smile the Trainee reacted with. Well he certainly seemed of a calm nature, she thought wryly. Apparently though, the world seemed to be enjoying the various surprises being endowed on her that day, for when he bowed, she tried very hard not to giggle as she thought of how ridiculous it might look. A Trainee…bowing to her? "Goodafternoon Accepted, my name is Ran Arosho. I hope you won't mind to take place next to you?" It was not like she could’ve refused of course, but his placing himself beside her confused her utterly. Her contact with men in the Tower consisted of basically her little spat with a certain Tower Guard in the city, who as she knew well, was quite the exception. Perhaps she should’ve watched Shayna more often.

"I guess that will become the Tower."

She was about to look up straight up at him and tell him how ridiculous an idea was that the sketch before him was anything but a man. It could of course still be shaped to become the imposing Tower before them but perhaps the Trainee-Ran-was just being polite? To escape the added confusion Vera would’ve had to deal with? He did have a nice smile though, she found herself noting. And although her blush deepened at this self-revelatory idea, it was about time she admitted it. "The Tower is beautiful. As are you, Accepted. Would you mind telling me your name?" He was very good at this, she realized halfway between trying to muffle the irrational cough and the quick red colour that had taken so great a liking to her face.

“I’m Vera,†she said simply, flashing as polished a smile as she could manage his way.

Yes, he was very good at this.

-ce n'est pas de amor, or is it?-

"I'm Vera" Was the answer Ran got, an answer that was accompanied by a warm smile. Ran didn't know what to say for a while, but sitting next to the Accepted was good. It felt good, and she looked good. Ran was out of the daily business, which he hadn't been for a pretty long time. He trained much, and played with the other Tower Trainees much. But he never really sat doing nothing. Or sitting next to an Accepted wasn't something he had done often as well.

Ran had heared of tempered Accepted pretty often. Approaching this one had been a risk. She could as well have reported him to the Mistress of Trainees. But this one was nice, she wouldn't do that. "Tell me Accepted," Ran said while he looked at her. "Do you already know what Ajah you are going to choose" Ran felt a little foolish as he wanted to break the silence, but didn't know what to ask. This question was well, not excactly the best question he could have asked. But he couldn't turn back now anymore, and therefor he just waited for her reply.
