I'm retired (sorta) living in quite cool-in-the winter NH (USA) which means lotsa time to read. I just finished the first book on my ereader (Nook) a lot faster than I thought after learning it was 760 pages long. Maybe that's just the ebook version. Anyway, I really enjoy SF/fantasy epics and wasn't sure what to expect from tEotW (think I got that right). I did see a few sequels when I got Book 1 but just found out after finishing it that there are 12(?) more and the last few are not authrored by Robert Jordan (who must be waiting for the next turning of the wheel). I will have to say the book is well written and very detailed. Having seen seven decades, even from my early years I have been an avid reader of almost anything that captures my interest. I think this series will be in the same league as J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" which I really enjoyed.

I stumbled on this forum while googling the book's title to find readable maps and a printable "Glossary" (pointers, anyone?). It took a while to relate to who the characters were but I gave up trying to ever pronounce or remember many names for people, places, events, etc. I'm looking forward to revisiting the world Jordan created. Although, one can see similarity with the world we live in, sans magical beasts and stuff. I guess that's the point of most fiction. Regardless, as my "wheel turns", I expect many hours of enjoyable reading and probably as many more in this forum seeking clarity to the puzzling thoughts thus created.

Welcome to DM, ... *gives up trying to pronounce your name*

There are so many things to do on here, that I'm sure you will be able to while away quite a few winters! Where is NH? Not being from the USA, I don't always remember what those abbreviations stand for.

Thanks for the welcome....... NH is New Hampshire, a state in what is referred to as the "New England" section of USA in the far Northeast. The North border is shared with Canada.

I expect I'll using the forum's resources and likely posting many newbie questions but with Spring "supposedly" here other distractions will curtail that somewhat.
