Talmanes
Lol I speak English, a bit of Spanish, a very small amount of Italian, and choice words in a few other languages. That's it.
Phelix
I'm a special kind of crazy.... don't worry. I even tried to break down the linguistic rules of the Old Tongue until I realized RJ wasn't a linguist and I was just stressing myself out. Talmanes
Lol nice! I've looked through a few databases of known Old Tongue words and phrases, but found it doesn't work well for noraml conversation.
Phelix
Heh... not even with other Wot freaks. I was mostly trying to break it down for my own benefit. Help me understand what the characters were saying... but if it had worked out to a complete dialect/language, I'd totally use it in real life... though, my choice of partners to speak with would be severely limited. Talmanes
Definitely would be, as you said even most WoT freaks wouldn't get it. Some hardcore ones might figure out it was the Old Tongue, but translating off the top of their heads? Probably not.
Phelix
I know a couple who would be able to get it, but one's Belgian and the other is Austrailian. I think my accent in the Old Tongue would be significantly different than theirs... which ties neatly with our previous discussion on accents. Talmanes
Wait you mean this is a structured conversation?! Oh no! Hahaha. You travel a lot don't you?
Phelix
Structured? Heavens no! Just a happy coincidence that looks like a pattern. I do get to travel quite a bit. It keeps me sharp, and I get things done. Though, I haven't yet formented a revolution... someone got to Egypt before I could. *sigh*
Talmanes
I plan to successfully take over the world some day, just haven't quite had the time. Lucky though, I haven't done too much travelling. Been through a lot of the US, and was in Aussie last summer, but that's about it.
Phelix
Thank you for letting me know... I'll adjust my plans accordingly to allow you to take over the world first... then I'll "liberate" it from you. :smug: I've been around the US, Canada, Mexico, a few African countries, an Indian Ocean Island or two, and am planning a trip through Central America soon. Talmanes
Oh wow! That would definitely be cool. (Oh and liberations are always fun). Top two places I want to go to are Alaska and Italy.
Phelix
For myself, I want to see Ireland and Spain... and then maybe Buenos Aires. *sigh* Dreams.
Talmanes
Well it sounds as if you do enough travelling anyway, so couldn't you just go to those places some time?
Phelix
I could... I just need to create a reason and then find the funding for the trip. Money, honey, makes the world go round... it also makes Phelix go 'round the world.
Talmanes
True that. As a person often short on funds, I know the feeling.
Phelix
I have a half-formulated reason to go to Spain... and the reason is half the battle. Go Joe! (the sleep madness might just have taken me...)
Talmanes
Just a few more hours and you'll cross the threshold back into awakeness.
Phelix
Ah, but in just a few hours I'll be back in my snuggly bed. I've got a down duvet that people would kill for. Mmmmm.... (Is it bad that I'm lusting for my duvet?)
Talmanes
Lol maybe just a little. Pretty soon I'll go have a nice unhealthy Hardees breakfast, and have some caffeine. I'll give it twenty minutes or so.
Phelix
The place I work left me a delicious, healthy dinner... ceasar salad, bowtie pasta in a pesto sauce with grilled chicken, a piece of flat bread, some corn.... and then a massive plate of delicious chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes. Apparently, they think I'm Santa Clause. *sigh* You enjoy the Hardees Breakfast... it's good for a growing body.
Talmanes
Lol it is enough to cover the recommended fat and calories for a few meals so I suppose so technically. And where exactly do you work?
Phelix
Lol it is enough to cover the recommended fat and calories for a few meals so I suppose so technically. And where exactly do you work? To quote Bureaucrat 1.0, technically correct is the best kind of correct! And currently, I work at a nice little private college prep high school that runs a dorm for some students. I'm the night shift guy... see, when I said earlier my job was making sure a bunch of high schoolers didn't go hump in the night, I wasn't just being stupid/funny. What about you? Talmanes
I work at a grocery store in my small town. I do pretty much whatever needs done there. That sounds nice actually. I don't mind the nocturnal part, and the perks sound good. And kids that go hump in the night was a good line lol.
Phelix
Oooh... so if I ever visit your town, you will be that amazing person who allows me to find fried chicken and chocolate milk at 2am? The perks really are quite good... and, no, the nocturnal bit isn't that bad, once you get used to it.
