Ooc: i hope this works out for you. ^_^

"Art Theory" borrowed from Wikipedia, Names and Dates changed for relevance.

It had only been one week since she had returned, ONE WEEK, that she was asked to teach a 'trial' class that was open to Novices and Accepteds about Art. Slowly rubbing her temples with her index fingers, Maegan sighed softly. She was no artist, and never picked up a paintbrush or any other artisan tool other than scroll work for books. But, She supposed, with her softer temperment, even as a Red, she was more ideal to teach than some other impatient Sedai that lacked the creativity to think 'out side the box'. So to speak.

Settling into her classroom, She ticked off the list of those that signed up, frowning as a few did not arrive on time. Starting the class 10 minutes late, giving up on waiting on a few particulars.

"This is Art Theory class, and welcome. I will be your teacher, Maegan Sedai."

"Many would believe that this class lacks any reasoning for one of refinment and skill of an Aes Sedai to take. That this class is.. Redundant. But I strongly disagree, and would liek to add this class as a more perminant part of the ciriculumn."

Maegan paused as the door creaked open and two girls walked in. Tapping her foot, slightly irritated as she waited and watched the Two girls as they took thier seat.

"If you intent to sign up for a class, it is better to show up on time or not at all. i will not tolerate lateness in any of my classes. Both of you will report to the Mistress of Novices quarters for a list of added chores as will as an added assignment for this class. Keep this in mind, and maybe you will not be late the next time."

Turning to the rest of the class she continued. "Saidar, in it's own way, is a beautiful work of art, masterful and unfortunatly only for the eyes of those that are trained to see it."

"Aesthetics, or the philosophy of art, often engages in disputes about the best way to define art. General pictures of the nature of art are called “theories of art.†Many have argued that it is a mistake to even try to define art or beauty, that they have no essence, and so can have no definition. Often, it is said that art is a cluster of related concepts rather than a single concept.

"Another approach is to say that “art†is basically a sociological category, that whatever art schools and museums, and artists get away with is considered art regardless of formal definitions. This "institutional definition of art" has been championed by Jorge, a late Artist from the Age of Legends. Most people did not consider the depiction of a Alley way or a store-bought urinal to be art until Anaeris Do'Virell and Marce Du'Camp (respectively) placed them in the context of art, which then provided the association of these objects with the values that define art. The placement of an object in an artistic context is a common characteristic of conceptual art, prevalent since the middle of the Age of Legends. Regretibly, the majority of these artist and thier work has been lost, but there is still mention of them and of thier work found in the Library Stacks."

Maegan coninued as she explained the basics of Colour Theory and Primary colours for the next hour or so. Finishing up, Magan smiled warmly at the class.

"Your assignment today will be very simple. I wish for you to take what you learned on Art Theory and create yoru own 'weave' on paper using only three colours. Your Allowed to mix acordingly, but only three colours may be used. And for The two that decided to arrive at thier own leasure will be required to write a 600 word Essay on one of the Great Artists mentioned in this lesson. You are all dismissed."

Collecting her papers, Maegan started to clear of the desk as the students filtered out of the room.

  • 3 weeks later...

Ely’s eyes were glazed as she strolled unconcernedly toward class. In her mind, she planned her future quests; her heroic deeds bringing justice and fighting back the shadow in the borderlands. It was a future she had set her heart on just in the past few weeks, but already Elyith felt a strong loyalty to the Blue Ajah. She knew nothing would dissuade her from her choice, since the cause she would choose was close to her heart. To plot against the shadow and rescue towns and families in the borderlands from creatures of the dark would give Elyith the peace she had searched in heated vein for ever since her mother’s death at the hands of a trolloc.

A soft sigh released itself from Ely’s tight chest as she reached the door of the class. It was never nice to be brought back to the present from sweet dreams. Especially not when the class one was about to walk into was taught by a Red. Ely had liked the idea of an art class and signed up immediately, only to be later informed it was taught by Maegan Sedai of the Red Ajah. Ely felt her lip curl back at the thought. Along with her love and loyalty to the blues, Ely had found a passionate hate for the reds. What they did to men who could channel was not justice, and neither was anything else they stood for. Each and every one deserved anything bad she was given, in Ely’s not-so-humble opinion.

None the less, she had signed up for the class, so now she had no choice. She chose a seat in the middle of the class and sat to wait. Maegan seemed to be waiting for more to arrive, but none did. A slight frown creased Ely’s sun-browned forehead.

"This is Art Theory class, and welcome. I will be your teacher, Maegan Sedai."

"Many would believe that this class lacks any reasoning for one of refinement and skill of an Aes Sedai to take. That this class is.. Redundant. But I strongly disagree, and would like to add this class as a more permanent part of the curriculum." Ely smiled as she pictured the reaction of some… well, most… Aes Sedai at the idea.

There was a tap on the door and two girls in white dresses with banded hems entered, looking meek. Maegan did not look impressed. Most of the teachers Ely had had during her years in the Tower presented similar reactions, but it did not stop Ely from using Maegan’s punishment for the girls as further proof that reds were unjust. She stared with open disgust at the woman before her, not thinking for a moment. She thought Maegan Sedai might have caught the look before she realised and removed it hastily from her face. Thinking again, she was unsure whether she would be unhappy if the woman had. In any case, Maegan did nothing and the lesson continued.

As she left with the others, Ely had to admit to herself that the lesson hadn’t been all that bad. But the teacher, on the other hand… Ely could almost have ignored the loftiness in the woman’s voice (she was Aes Sedai, after all), but each time she looked up her eyes were drawn with anger to the excess of red embroidery on Maegan’s silvery-grey dress. Her anger was not something she could fully explain, but it held her heart as strongly as… she gave up thinking and ran to catch up with her best friend; Mira. Perhaps if she thought less about the reds, her anger would calm and mature. As soon as she had pinned the thought to her mind like a reminder note, her laughter burnt it to a crisp. Her passionate dislike for the reds vanish? The idea was laughable.

“What are you going to do for your homework, Mira? I have no ideas!â€...

OOC: You don't need to answer the question if you don't want Martin. I just put it there for an ending that continues, kind of... :D Hope it's okay. I was in a huge rush!
