I've had such a wonderful time for over 22 years that I hate the thought of leaving.

You spend long enough in the service and you become institutionalized (kinda like prison (not that I really have a frame of reference for that... ;))).  I felt the same way after my 24 years of service.  That's why I became a defense contractor...I think I'm ultimately going to teach school though.  Continue to mold & shape the minds of young people (to further my megalomaniacial designs for world domination...  :P).

Thank you for your service.

It has been my honor to serve.  Like Malruhn, I appreciate the thanks (at least I assumed you were thanking both of us...  ;D ).

I should be retiring in a couple of years.
Always a smart move to get out while you still have all your limbs. And eyes.

I appreciate the thanks, and consider it an honor to be able to serve - but it's almost like thanking a kid for playing in a playground... I've had such a wonderful time for over 22 years that I hate the thought of leaving.

Oh - and I was just notified that I'm on the short-list to go down to the Gulf for the oil spill response and cleanup.  Don't tell my wife, but I'd even do this job for FREE!

I won't tell your bosses in the army either, or they might take you up on your offer.

And just to get back on topic... who else would like to see a scene where Perrin walks out of his tent, tucking in his shirt - with a sheen of sweat, and walking away while whistling a happy tune - to be followed several minutes later by Berelain - looking all disheveled, trying to smooth her dress and tuck her mussed-up hair - walking all funny as she heads toward her tent?

I'd PAY to read that one. I don't care if Faile would gut them both like trout... I still wanna see it.

It would indeed be hilarious... But I won't tell Sanderson you'd pay to see it. He might try and take you up on the offer.

I think I'm ultimately going to teach school though.  Continue to mold & shape the minds of young people (to further my megalomaniacial designs for world domination...  :P).
I wish you the best of luck in scarring the minds that will shape your country's future. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. And always remember, "let them hate, so long as they fear." It's the only way.

Sorry - Tel was in the Army. I may have started my career there, but I'm now in the US Coast Guard.
I won't tell them either.
