Platinum Dunes, who've been involved in most of the major horror remakes of the past few years, have added the remake of 1987 cult classic "The Monster Squad" to that list reports Deadline New York

 

The Shane Black and Fred Dekker-penned original dealt with a group of kids trying to stop Dracula, the Wolfman, the Mummy and the like from obtaining an amulet to rule the world.

 

A scribe is being sought to pen the remake which Rob Cohen has been in development on with Paramount Pictures since 2008 and is lined up to direct.

 

Cohen served as a producer on the original and will do so here alongside Dunes' Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
