Bubble of Evil RP

 

Well, it didn't exactly finish when expected, but meh :) People have been busy so and split between other commitments. I am going to post the bubble dissipating between June 8-10th. After which, we'll go somewhere and get fixed up. For those that fought to protect the wagon, Queen Leilwinn Jasma will be rewarding them with medals of some sort, and with it will come recognition of sorts. More on that further down.

Slow going on my part, but it'll get done, especially now that a couple of things have been sorted.

 

 

Bowl of Winds RP

 

Its on staff and everyone seems happy with it pretty much. I let it falter a little with our Bubble of Evil to look over. Something else to get onto.

Epic RP

 

Basic idea, there are some RP's that would naturally gain a person notoriety or fame. Bubble of Evil RP got me thinking about it, how survivours of the bubble would gain some noteworthiness through stories told, at least in Andor. It then got me thinking about other sorts of RP's that could gain one fame, and what sort of circumstances.

 

So I'm thinking about a basic idea where if you want your RP to be Epic, as in gain some form of fame or notoriety, you apply for your RP to be recognised as such (thats right, not just div made RP's can be Epic, you can make your own) and if it gets the seal of approval, we have it noted that your character is famous for such and such action by the end of the RP. It'll be good in allowing people's characters to have greater impact in the world I think.

 

Some things that could be Epic could be performing a task or service for a royal family. Or perhaps the fame is just in a region and you perform it for a high seat or some such. Alternately, you could become infamous by performing a particularly daring theft or assassination, or a heist. Either way, you'd have to RP the consequences (having to lay low if you became infamous for a crime etc)

Thats right folks, I am completely open to bribes. Sell your soul to me and/or volunteer to help with Project Burnout (and more importantly, follow through) and I will grant a boon. A boon worked out that is proportionate to the task you do. Say, design Ghealdan for me and I up your char a WS or two, or want to do something a bit more outrageous than normal in the RP etc. The work you do for Project Burnout will not only be useful for yourself anyway should your char need the info, but for all players in the RP as well.

 

 

James' Ramble

 

 

Well, several things happened last month. Even if we were a bit slow with everyone having stuff on, we've dominated the Bubble of Evil RP with good concept and excellent writing from all players. I'm keen to wrap it up and end it well, and I'm proud of how well you've all done.

 

But if you tell anyone I said that I'll do something so terrible, horrendous and vile to you that I can't mention it here. You were warned *twitch*.

 

Project Burnout is proceeding at a good clip. Andor is well on its way to being a product that can be put up on display. Saldaea has also come together quite strongly over the past few days and is coming along well. There are also people assigned for Cairhien, the other borderlands, Mayene and Tear, also Amadicia. I think I got someone for Far Madding too, but now I can't remember who it was.

 

Once the project is done, we'll have place names, population and military numbers, economy, royal and noble houses and etc info available. Well, thats one solid chunk of it anyway, there's plenty of other stuff that needs doing. I need to get back to doing sport in Randland at some point actually. :)

 

On a more personal note, I might not be as visible during this month as my exams are on. Alternately, I might be around more because I'll try and forget I have exams. Either way, its not a sure thing but I'll get to stuff as I can.

 

Also a bit of trivia to end on. When I first came in as FL DL, there were about 12 chars. There are now over thirty, and we've been growing strongly month after month. Comes down to alot of factors, like the change ot character limits etc, but I like to think the fact that we all get in and have a go is part of it. As long as we continue to have fun, then we must be doing something right :)

 

 

Troll Challenge

 

 

I've decided to issue a challenge for June after finding a couple of my old mock bios. Ever thought about teasing a biochecker by making a bio you knew there was no chance of being approved? Some form of outrageous character that had no chance of being allowed to RP?

 

My challenge is for you to make such a bio, the most terrible bios you possibly can. The only limit is your imagination, the bio can also be for a char of another div. You know, like an Aes Sedai wolfkin or an asha'man hermaphrodite that channels both powers. Send these bios to Freecastle@gmail.com with the title "Prank - (insert character name)"

 

Competition will close at the end of June, and early July there will be two winners. One will be my personal pick, the one I think is clearly the worst of the lot (either stylishly or just plain terrible). I'll also take a few of the runner ups, and put them on display on a thread here, and there will be vote open for a week to pick a winner. Both winners will get a boon from me ranging from upping a WS a little to all sorts of creative tinkering or gifting.

 

Also, this competition is not just limited to the Freelanders. If you're outside the Div, get in and have a go, and if you win we'll figure out some form of compensation. Ranging from extra leeway for your new FL char you always wanted to make to doing something world changing with another char, etc.

 

All bios will go on display in a section planned for Freelander site that is in the works. The section will deal with "How not to make a bio" :D All writers will also be credited.
