Casting Asmo's killer???

Well I did think about that but it all seems to fit together.

 

Taim was sent to kill Asmodean before infiltrating the soon-to-be-Black Tower. The Shadow would have logically thought Rand would have Asmodean teaching people to channel, so the Shadow decide to pop Asmodean off, meaning Rand now has nobody to teach his men. Now, not only does that mean Taim has a nice vacancy to fill-one that Rand NEEDS to fill-it also eliminates the chance of Asmodean recognising Taim and telling Rand he is a Darkfriend.

 

They had Taim go there by normal travelling, not via a gateway, in order to make it out as if Taim cant Travel, and it also looked as if Taim had ridden hard, making it seem as if he was almost desperate to get to Rand for the amnesty.

 

I may be wrong, but it all seems to fit, even the timing.
