Wow, agreeing with and supporting Taim takes up almost all of my time and energy. But I wondered, if I get nightkilled, who should the innocents blame? I only bring it up because I was thinking if Taim, naturally, and wondered what he would think? Remember, there are no i's in support. Just in the back of my head. La la la.  ;D

Thats why rules about out-of-game chatting is really quite dumb cause it keeps the players outside the game. Besides, if you're stupid enough to enter "shaky alliances" whith people who's most likely not on your team anyways..... you basically deserve to be killed off  ::)

Now, let's just suppose for a moment....purely hypothetical of course....that I sent a PM to say...Lanfear? Yeah, that's it, Lanfear.  Let's say I sent a PM to Lanfear, asking her to join me in some "shaky alliance" of sorts, shaky meaning we both don't know if the other is mafia or just a partygoer.  Suppose that I only sent one, but implied that there was a whole Verison Network of players behind me.

 

Suppose now that she replied back telling me where I can stick my shaky alliance, then posts in the thread about showing our shiny faces.  Again, this is purely hypothetical.....*grins*....but then right after that, our good friend Be'lal, who received no such PM from me, quotes its title directly?

 

How does one explain this?  Lanfear, you mine doin' some 'splainin? We'd all love to hear this!

ooooh, more fun.  Here's Rahvin's "hypothetical" message, which someone forwarded me:

 

A shaky alliance is forming, no more than 6 of us right now, but enough to save necks at least through the next couple of nights.  We will all most likely kill each other then, but a guarantee of protection from our little group would guarantee yours as well.  Savvy?

 

We won't bother with names, but if you vote Taim in the upcoming, you will know who your friends are if you read between the votes!  ;)

 

Pull a Taim on me with this message, and its your neck instead. 

 

The interesting thing about all this is that I have agreed to be lynched so long as Moridin is lynched as well

 

So the question becomes, why does anyone need to enter into any "alliances," shaky or otherwise, to get me killed?

 

The answer, of course, is obvious:

A "shaky alliance" is necessary only if you want to be sure that I will be lynched while Moridin stays alive.

 

I'll leave you all to draw your own conclusions as to why anyone might be interested in ensuring Moridin's survival.

Did someone post a "mod PM" without a capital P?  Because I can't imagine that Loki did anything but cut and paste the generic "Partygoer" post with whatever changes were necessary for each role.  There was also another tidbit in my opening PM, along with being told that I was roleless (sort of along the same lines) that I'm not sure the mafia got an analog to, which is why I'm not quoting the PM itself.

Yes, I did get it in a PM from Lanfear. I don't know why she chose to send one to me, but obviously she also sent some around to other players too? or am I just misunderstanding. Anyways, no, it doesnt mean I'm Mafia, it means someone is trying to set someone else up, which is common in Mafia games of course. Anyways, I still think its pretty weird claiming someone is Mafia, based on them recieving a PM. All I was referring to when mentioning that PM was my dislike of players talking outside the thread. I know its allowed, I'm just old fashioned I guess.

Go read the newby mafia game that just concluded.  Mynd essentially got the entire town killed off by ignoring good mafia advice from more experienced players and basically handed the mafia the game. 

 

Essentially, if Mynd is a townie, I'd be very reluctant to trust his hunches based on his prior game play; if he's mafia, I obviously wouldn't want to trust him.

So . . . you've accused Lanfear of forwarding the message to Be'lal (and who knows who else) but deduce that I must have gotten it from her?

 

One other question, Mynd - if there was no "Shaky Alliance of 6", just you sending out PMs for random reasons - how did you expect Lanfear to react if she and you were the only ones voting for me?

 

Or did you have some reason to suspect that a relatively sizable group of players were planning to vote me off the island tomorrow?

1. No, I dont really know why she sent it to me. Maybe she just wanted to do like you do and see who would respond and not? I have a feeling she had just the same reasons that you have when you send those PM's out. I could be wrong of course.

 

2. If calling someone stupid is old fashioned? Not that I know of. My point of that statement was that, in this kind of game, how smart is it really to send those PM's out, and on to other people? Anyone can be evil, and to start with that kind of playing is just going to confuse the players even more. Savvy?  :P I just cant understand the"lets confuse completely random players that might be on my team". Not a good way to help the Partygoers now is it? At least thats my take on it. I had another reply to this but it got lost because my computer is basically broken. So I might come back to this later.

 

3. I'm not talking mad, I'm talking reason. How can it be evil to warn people about the random PM's dropping into their mailboxes? Your logic confuses me Rahvin. I'd also like to refer to my answer to #1. I dont know why I got the PM, but obviously other people got it too. Does that mean they are evil too? strange....

 

So yeah, take that as you want, but I'd be careful throwing accusations out like that with that kind of reasonings.
