Sirens Call Inn: A Feast for Liitha [Open WY] REPOST

Liitha

Recommended Posts

OOC: TG’s and Warders are invited, trainees are allowed to sneak in as long as they behave and go to bed on time. Wink Anything else, take it up with the MoT!

The day of the Ceremony had come to an end with a light shower of rain which made everyone leave their posts and hurry inside, those on the wall tried to get the late shift so they could hide in the Tower buildings. But the rain did not last and soon the moon appeared in the sky. All this was lost to Lyv who, after a quick bath after the tourney with Liitha had run to Tar Valon to prepare for a feast. She had told a few of her friends to invite as many people as possible to come an hour after sunset to the ‘Sirens Call’, surely Maggie Mae would help her set up a feast for the guards. Liitha Narshoba had become a BladeMaster and in good tradition, there was to be a party.

Dressed in a pair of black slacks and a tight sleeveless white shirt, Lyv was cutting the pies and helping with the cleaning of the common room. Alexander Namere had helped out by hauling a keg of ale up from the basement and Samara had started to clean the tables. They had closed the inn, except for the few townies who would only leave far after dark. It was more than Lyv could have hoped for and she kept thanking them all over and over. Maggie assured her that the business she got from the Tower, and especially the Yards, was more than enough thanks for a party like this. A few hours later, the only person who did not know about the party was Liitha Narshoba, Blademaster anew and completely out of the loop to all of this. That had to change. Lyv talked to Maggie Mae about this and the innkeeper suggested she sent an errand boy out to Liitha, to tell her that Lyv had gotten drunk and into a fight and needed a friend to help her back to the Yards. That would work and so it all began.

Soon, more guards entered the inn after having heard about the party and Lyv started to help with the servings of food, they had soup, bread, cold cuts and pies all ready and they had no idea when Liitha would appear. Lyv bustled along the tables until she finally found an empty seat and leaned back in the chair to watch the effects of her work take place. She chatted a little with a trainee who appeared at her table, no longer being the Mistress of Trainees made her unwary of trainees who appeared in the inn in Tar Valon after dark. Ginae Auvriani had her hands full on the trainees but Lyv had an idea she might appear here herself after all. Suddenly, the door opened and Liitha’s pale face appeared in the doorway. Lyv was on her feet and running over to her. “Surprise!†she yelled out. And hugged the surprised woman, then told her in a whisper, “This is all for you, because you are one of us now, go have fun,†then spread her arms wide to show all the guests who had come for the party. Two cups of spiced wine were handed to her and she passed one on to Liitha. “Here you go, enjoy BladeMaster Narshoba,†she said with a big grin.

it wasn't everyday that someone was made blademaster, Talyn hardly new the woman the party was for, but a party was a party and he hoped to have a good time. This would be his first party since becoming a Tower Guard. He hadn't been one long and hoped that the Mistress of Trainees would remember that he'd gone beyond her reach. There had been two Mistress of Trainees when he arrived here, Lyv Tylin who had stepped down and let Giana move into her position. Talyn wasn't sure which one he was afraid of more.

The Siren's Call was one of the well known inns to Talyn, Alexander Namere lived here. He'd delievered a message to him two years ago from Cari. Cari had sent him here to be the Warder of a Sister of the Black Ajah, but they had not spoken since he had arrived and he didn't see that actually panning out, but he didn't regret his decision. If there were Black Ajah in the Tower there had to be Darkfriends in the Yards, he had only to find those of his kind. Talyn's fingers itched with anticipation at finding a friend to share secrets with, but he'd yet to find anyone he trusted yet. He wondered when he would. For now he'd play it up as a light fool and beleive in the Great Lords treasures alone.

The party was set up well. Lyv had done a good job of it. He smiled at the former Mistress of Trainees as he ordered a spiced wine. He wondered if she'd stop him from drinking or if she even cared anymore what the trainees did. Talyn wondered what any former superior felt after they stepped away from the position. Talyn would never find out, he had not intention of gaining status in position among light fools, he hoped to earn his marks with the Great Lord. He only awaited the day he was called to his duty.

"Well aren't you a pretty boy?"

"Why? You interested?" Aran laughed as Buzz gave him a dirty look as he handed out the drinks he'd fetched from the bar, all while the rest of the people at their table laughed. Fenwin, Marie, Walten, Elvar, Calen, Maude, Reynold, Jakob, all of them from Aran's own detachment that had come for the night to celebrate. Not that they knew Liitha that well, but a new Blademaster meant a party for everyone, and they didn't need much excuse to do so. Besides, from what Aran had heard, Liitha was a daughter of a Tower Guard, and had an aunt for an Aes Sedai besides. It wasn't often that the children of Tower Guards followed the tradition, most Tower Guards had the sense to warn their children away from it. Aes Sedai were incredibly tedious to deal with, and when one wasn't confronted with the frustration of Aes Sedai, one was in danger. Not exactly the finest form of employment in terms of worker satisfaction.

Besides, someone needed to bring some life to the party. All of them had dyed their hair in various colours, Aran's was a mix of red and purple locks, while others had green, blue, silver and such. Since he'd done it at the Ball and gotten so much attention for his unique form of dress, they'd all decided to give it a go, though they weren't willing to go so far as bodypaint. Aran would have but considering that after the Ball he'd had to spend a night out in the cold in nothing but that selfsame loincloth courtesy of Lonrick, he'd decided a little prudence was in order.

A little anyway.

They'd arrived quite early, they were amongst the first in fact because they'd wanted to start their drinking earlier on, so they'd all said hi to Lyv on their way in. Aran had asked if she was planning to go home with company, she'd taken that as an offer on his part and quite tartedly shot him down, much to the amusement of those around him. He'd taken it in good grace, mainly because he believed in biding his time, later on in the night when she didn't expect it.

Her uppence would come.

But not until the chant was done, it was a little something from back home in Foregate he'd taught the others. It was childish, loud, and quite suited to drinking and celebrating, so it was taking well enough. Add to that they were going to get Liitha to drink a sizeable tankard in one hit while they did it, they were going to get her well on her way, as their contribution to the night's festivities.

The party started to flood with Tower Guards and the odd warder and Lyv started to greet her friends as they appeared in the doorway. After a bit of that, she decided to have a drink of some kind and found Talyn leaning by the bar. He was quite new to the rank of Tower Guard and for a moment, Lyv realized that he was one of the last trainees she had enrolled in the books. Or had she left by then already? Lyv wasn’t sure, but she did remember him as a trainee and smiled as she raised her own drink to toast his, “Congratulations, in a way this is your party to my friend,†and then sipped on the ale she had received from Samara.

It was still cold from standing in the barrel down in the basement and Lyv had found the spiced wine a bit too strong for the amount of thirst she had. Maybe it was good not to roll herself out of the inn, it seemed to occur more often again of late. She was acting a lot like her old self when she was new to the red cloak and wall duty. “So how is life from up the wall? Any interesting midnight gossip I am missing out on?†the Commander had given her a schedule of mostly morning rounds on the wall. She was not sure why Krelsa wanted her to be up and running before dawn, but she did not mind as this allowed her to be in Tar Valon nights more often than not.

“Have you been here before?†she asked to keep the conversation going, but also because she liked to know what people thought of this venue. It was an inn she had been to once or twice before, Elia had shown it to her a good year ago they went here sometimes. A little girl, Fawne Namere was here one of those times and Lyv could not help but wonder if this girl was Elia’s. She looked so much like the old Commander, it was uncanny. At Talyn’s reply that he had been here before, to celebrate his promtion to Tower Guard, Lyv realized that he was still very fresh out of his trainee days. “Ah, then you know the ale tastes good here when you have something to celebrate,†and looked over the crowds as more people began to immerse through the doorway.

She found Aran and a group from his legion who had occupied a table filled with empty and half filled cups. She noticed Liitha talking with people and still more people came in. Lyv spoke to Talyn and smiled as she said, “I hope they all fit in!†at which Maggie Mae seemed to appear out of nowhere saying, “They better Miss Tylin, or the price of the rooms they occupy will go up,†added with a wink that showed she had all the confidence in her common room. “yeah, we’ll be alright,†she said and gulped down a large swig from her ale. “We train, we guard and we party,†she said and lifted the cup in a celebratory toast over to Liitha who stood on the other side of the common room.

Litha steped out of the bath and picked up a towel, it was good to have the sweat washed of. She dried and combed her hair, then put a new bandana on, the old one full of dust lay with her dirty clothes in the corner. She dressed quickly, black pants and a olive top with a V neck and with out arms, there where a falcon about to grip a rabit embroided in dark green treads on it.

Sliping on her boots she looked around and picked up her mothers old dager placing it on her belt in a sheat she had had made for it. Then hid a couple knives on her body.

Liitha grasped a cloak, she had intentions to go down to Tar Valon for a meal, she turned from her door as she heard feets behind her. She took the note she was handed and dismissed the messenger, well it seemed plans where changed. Liitha walked down to the kitchen and got some bread and dry meat to eat as she walked to the town, just as she arived outside sirens call she swallowed the last of the bread, and brushed her hands against eachother geting rid of the crumbles.

The note had not said why she where to come here and she entered to a full inn, surprice was called and sudenly Lyv was at her side handing her a cup of spiced wine. She smiled at Lyv and sipped the wine, she hang on to the cup, it would do good to toast with peoples, but she had no intentions geting drunk.

She sliped into the crowd to mingle looking for familiar faces, there where to many she recognised but didnt really know, not that it mathered. She smiled and greated peoples as she moved through the crowd, sipping the wine carefully when toasting.

She spoted Nuitari, and headed over siting down at the table to share a few words with her old teacher.

After checking her outfit in the mirror one last time Rosheen straightened herself with a sigh. “As pretty as you’re ever going to get.†She told her reflection, before winking at it. She supposed it wasn’t all that bad. She wasn’t as gangly as she had been as a teenager anymore, and the years had done their best to make her look a little feminine, something she couldn’t quite get rid of no matter how hard she trained. Of course the Mohawk didn’t do much to enhance a more ladylike appearance, but after having sported it for over ten years, Rosheen was sure that she’d feel naked without it. She straightened the high collared, sleeveless black shirt that she wore one last time, and smoothed the black Kandori style pants once more. Her black boots shone at her as she glanced down at them.

For some strange reason the party for Liitha mattered a great deal to her. Blademaster. It was an impressive title. One that she hoped to gain for herself before the year was over as well. Not that she didn’t think she was a worthy Tower Guard now, but attaining the title would be… the final confirmation for herself that she was truly good enough to stay. With a shake of her head she tried to chase her last worries away. Tonight was for Liitha, and she was sure that the other woman would enjoy the party Lyv had set up for her. Lyv was good at such things, after all. A small smile curved her lips as she walked out of her room, down the stairs, and towards the gate.

It was already dark out, and she supposed that most of her friends would already be at the party. With a little luck she was still on time to get drunk way before Aran would even notice a slight buzz in his head. As she walked on she noticed that the lights were still on in Ginae’s office. She decided to stop by for a moment. She peered past the open door, finding the Mistress of Trainees in her seat behind her desk, staring at a stack of files. “You’re not coming to the party?†she asked. The older woman shook her head. “Not yet, at least. I’d like to get these finished first. I’d hate myself if I had to do them in the morning while I’m hung over.†Rosheen grinned. “Wise choice.†Ginae grinned back at her. “Congratulate Liitha for me, will you?†she asked. Rosheen nodded and turned, intent on getting to the Sirens Call.

As she arrived there, it was already crowded. It took her a while to find someone she recognised. Someone that didn’t have brightly painted hair at least. She wasn’t quite drunk enough to interact with Aran and his merry band of surrogate brigands just yet. Instead she walked over to Lyv and Talyn. She ordered herself a mug of ale before greeting them though. She was thirsty. “Well well, fancy meeting you here.†She said, grinning at the two of them. Talyn’s promotion was still fresh in her memory, as well as Lyv’s own promotion to Blademaster. It wouldn’t be long now before she joined Lyv and Liitha in the ranks of the Blademasters. “Have you seen Liitha around? I promised Ginae I’d congratulate her. Gin’s managed to burry herself under a stack of paperwork.â€

Ran walked back to his barrack. He had heared there had been some kind of promotion. Someone he had heared of once, perhaps twice had become BladeMaster. As Ran was told, when someone became BladeMaster there was a party. Tower Trainees aren't invited, but Ran couldn't care about that. Parties always meant food and drinks. Enough reasons for Ran to throw away all decency and just go to the party.

First he wanted to take on a clean shirt. The training of that day had made his clean white shirt into a brown shirt. "Stupid rain." Ran said quietly to himself. Even on a party he wasn't invited he wanted to show up in a clean shirt. When he arrived in his room he took off his shirt and stood in front of the little mirror in his room. The room he shared with Daesmar who wasn't there at the moment. When Ran smiled, his mirror image smiled back. When Ran had put on a clean shirt, a black one, he checked the other rooms of the trainees to see who he could stirr up to come to the party as well. There were some other trainees who Ran told where he had find out the party was held.

Ran wasn't invited, but as he had heared many were invited he guessed no one would notice him flirting with the serving girls, or perhaps other trainees that sneaked in. When Ran had gone into Tar Valon with Mateo for one or another task he had learned the position of the inn this party was held. It wasn't too far from the yards, and Ran hoped he could stay quite some time before he had to get back to the barracks because of the curfew.

When Ran arrived at the party, he noticed it was pretty crowded already. He had hoped for that, so no one would notice his arrival. Ran looked around, and saw some faces he knew. He also saw some faces he had seen before, but didn't know the name by. To not get recognised Ran moved fastly to the backside of the inn, and managed to get himself a drink by one of the serving girls. One with nice eyes Ran noticed. With his glass in his hand Ran tried to find out who was the one that had gotten this party because she had gotten the rank of Blade Master. It wasn't something difficult to find out, as people were all congratulating her. Ran remembered her first name. Liitha. He had once gotten a training from her.

The place was full of people, and noice there were drinks there was food. Ran liked it. He was enjoying the girls that walked by when he suddenly saw another trainee. He guessed this trainee wasn't supposed to be here either, he decided to make a chat with him.
