(learn)

Rowul had set up a pavillion and had invited All of the Lt. Sergeants, and any other officer that needed to learn to do this

"Alright first every time you come here be prepared to wear a ball room suit, or gown, If you do not have one see me i will do my best to outfit you, though i will be asking for favors such as, if my platoon, or company gets some kind of work and they don't wanna do it, its your job to see your men get it done. Alright, also you should all have your house or officer symbols sown onto your jackets men."

Rowul showed his three golden knots of Child of the Light as well as his knots for the Band. They were silver. He showed that his house crest was a Silver horse on a feild of black. Carnhain had decided that since he was a nephew he could be a little different, but as long as he kept the horse that was fine with Rowul.

"Now the next thing you need to know is how to find the right partner, here we all know eachothers rank, but if the opposite sex is not wearing rank you must find out, subtley."

"Now gentlemen, and i use that term loosely " said Rowul with a grin, "you should know that you can ask any one to dance, though if you ask a queen and you are not a captain or above you will get shot donw, even a captain can. But i digress, If you are a noble then you should wear the opprote rank unless your rank in this band is higher."

Rowul was wandering among them as he talked, slappign one female sergeants hand he said, "Do not bite your finger nows from now until the ball, let them grow and cut them."

Rowul went back to the front, "Alright every one find a partner, then we shall begin to learn to dance"

Estel:

ooc: I actually made Carnhain’s sigil in another post (as well as a pair of good clothes, so I’ll copy the description from there, I wrote as if they were a gift from you anyway)

ic:

Carnhain grimaced. He was once again in his silks. The costume was mainly the same as the one he had worn for his lessons with Toth, though there were slight amendments. The pants were tighter- these were too tight to do any decent duelling in, and he would have been a bright shade of red were his coat not long enough to cover his bottom.

He picked at the sigil on the sleeve of his fine red coat. It was a horse of fire on a field of black as Rowul spoke. At his Uncle’s command to find a partner, he went searching, and found another young lady. He didn’t seem to have much trouble finding a partner, while much older, scarred veterans apparently were having great difficulty.

Tryst:

Toth wasn't quick to join the others instead he watched from a dark corner as the former lord walked around giving orders as if it was a battlefield. Shrugging toth leaned against the wall and looked at the door as Lt Carnhain walked in. If his dancing is as good as his manners where Toth was going to be laughing quite a lot.

Looking down on himself to make sure his attire was right and not messed up he looked at sigil on his sleeve a red fortress on blue. He looked up when the host startred to adress everyone."Alright first every time you come here be prepared to wear a ball room suit, or gown, If you do not have one see me i will do my best to outfit you, though i will be asking for favors such as, if my platoon, or company gets some kind of work and they don't wanna do it, its your job to see your men get it done. Alright every one find a partner, then we shall begin to learn to dance"

Toth just looked on as everyone rushed to get the prettiest girls.

Ramza:

(soory about the wait,, her we go)

Rowul had the band begin to play, "Now most dances shall be waltzes, that is a 1/3 meter usuasly so the count is, 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3..... So you shall put your domant hand on the ladies waiste, there should be at least 3 inches in between all of you, if i see more and the female is not the one getting closer there shall be pushups invilved, so once you do this, gently grab the womans and place it shoulder hieght, or if she allows let her place it one the your shoulder."

Rowul looked around adn corrected as needed, "Now on my count you shall step left, forward, Right, then back right left, Now i want you alll to practice this,"

"1, 2, 3: 2, 2, 3: 1, 2 ,3 : 2, ,2 3

Feelin like a fool, Carnhain began to stumble about. His partner's smile was mocking and he scowled at her. 'Blood and ashes, why do I have to learn to dance! It's not like I'm ever going to be anywhere outside of the Band! I'm no lord, no matter what Rowul says.'

Barely catching himself from trupping, he spotted Toth swinging his partner around the room laughing at him. Carnhain's scowl turned to a glare for the man across the room.

Unfortunatly, glaring at Toth took the Carnhain's attention away from his feet and he ended up sprawled across the floor, his partner standing above him laughing her pretty little head off.

With a growl of frustration, Carnhain tried again. Glancing around, he felt a little relieved to see the better part of the male population having the same problems as he. Spurred on by the comfort that he was not alone in looking like a fool he tried again.

After what seemed forever- and was in reality at least five songs- the men started to get the hang of it, and soon it was all his partner could do to keep up with her shorter partner. Carnhain felt lucky that his footwork with a blade was good, as this was turning out to be not much different.

Tryst:

Toh had been able to find a pretty officer that came late to dance with. Taking her by the waist and holding her hand in his he started to do the waltz. She was pretty inexperinced but his fett were able to make up for her mistakes.

By the end of the first song she was dancing as well as any lady and Toth was trully laughing his head of as Carnhain tripped and fumbled his way along the floor. When Toth saw Carnhain noticing him laugh and laughed even harder when he fell on the floor.

As Toth looked around the men were ether on the floor or tripping their partners or tripping themselves. Toth had had this much fun since the time a trolloc raid on his escort had caued his tutor to lose some valubale books. The men had to drag him behind a horse to keep hom from running into the blight after the retreating Trollocs.

Silently watching rom a shadow Rowul through a stick that tripped the laughing noble and threw his voice to the other corner of the room, "Now we are about to make this hard"

moving silently adn stealthfully so as not to be seen by the noble he went in the back adn brought out his offical White Silk uniform, pulling on his pants and then white shirt and jacket he felt as if he should be donning armor. Placing his flaring cloak on he walked out onto the floor.

"Now we are going to learn a more complex set of moves"

Grabbing a young lady he started the orginal move, left back right forward, but while moving he started gliding and making it into a circle stopping he looked at the crowd, "Alright no try that"

Walking over to Carhain he gave quite advice to make sure that he was the greatest dancer there.

"Cat dances on hot sand"......." there now glide its really easy"

While few people in the Band knew one sword form from another- he among them- he took the advice Rowul gave him, trying his best. It really was a lot like a sword fight, once you got used to it. However, instead of three basic footwork movements, there were hundreds.

While he was no longer tripping over his own feet, he still stumbled and his dancing was choppy, no where near as smooth as that of the others.

Time after time he practiced, until he was breathing hard- not to the amusement of his poor partner.

Carnhain couldn't help feeling self-concious as he attempted to twirl the young lady. Compared to the other's in the room- former lords, ex-merchant, a few veterans who signed to the Band- he was a nobody. He couldn't even claim any family, save Rowul. But he didn't count. He didn't have a history like the others did. He wasn't refined.

He had managed to hold his feet so far and had only gotten a few glares for steppig on his partner's toes. He was wishing he was somewhere else, and she was obviously wishing he was in the 'somewhere else' too. He smiled apologetically. She just sniffed.

1-2-3. 1-2-3. 1-2-3. 1-2-3.

The movements were repetitious, but despite their simplicity, Carnhain still struggled with them. Was he too stupid to manage this? Light! He was starting again! He would not fall back into self-doubt! Blood and ashes, he was supposed to lead!

Feet twirled and this dance was as critical and difficult as any spar he had been in. Light let him finish without falling and making a bigger fool of himself!

As if his silent plea was answered, the song finished. Relieved, Carnhain hasitly bowed to his partner and nearly sprinted from the tent.
