Grinning as she hauled the last of the three buckets from under the shelf, Lyv looked over at Deneira. She was the one in charge of making the paint and Lyv would climb the rafters up in the ceiling to dump it over their victim. Well, not really a victim, he had done enough prank work himself to earn a little payback. And they had come up with a nice payback that involved bright colors and big laughs, yet little room to sneak out and stay out of the blame. Well, they were ready to take that risk today, on a sunny afternoon with a few clouds on the heavens, Lyv and Deneira were working on filling the buckets and preparing them for the prank.

The two guards had found each other one night on the wall, talking over the odd things that sometimes passed in the Yards. Lyv told Deneira about the time she woke up behind her desk, her face painted and her entire bedroom in the yards. She told the other woman she suspected Aran, but never got proof of that and Deneira told her about how the man had liked to make fun at her expense from time to time. They agreed that since Aran was not an evil bastard and a good friend when you needed him to be, he deserved a prank rather than a visit to his captain. That was something even he could respect they felt and if not, they’d at least have a good laugh.

“It will be as if the sky fell on top of him,†Lyv said with a grin as she helped her friend pore the freshly made paint over in the three buckets. They decided not to go with just one, as they might have an accident on the way up to the ceiling and then the prank would be ruined even before it began. “Alright, now we have to find a way for Aran to go into the back of the barn, you have thought of something already, Dene?†Lyv asked as she looked over at the barn where she was going to hide, and steady herself not to drop down along with the buckets of paint.

What a laugh this would be… they were going to be getting Aran back. Deneira was glad for her new friend… who would have thought, out of all the guards she could get night watch with, it would be Lyv, the old mistress of trainees, and one of Aran’s many victims. Of course, Deneira had helped to prank a few with Aran while a trainee, but now as a tower guard, she had chosen to watch herself around him.

Now, they were carrying three buckets up into the rafters, where Blue Paint would be awaiting their favorite prankster. Aran really was a good friend, but he needed to receive a taste of his own medicine. Deneira smiled at Lyv and laughed, nodding. “Of course I already thought of something… and he should come to it like a lost puppy!â€

Winking, she let her friend get ready in the rafters. “Ok, Im gonna go get him, then you be ready to pour it on him as soon as he is under you. Wait until I move, though, because I don’t wanna get hit too!â€

Deneira ran out into the yard, and hunted down Aran, seeing him passed out under his usual tree, running up to him, she shook him awake and pulled him up. “Aran, come quick!†He rubbed his eyes and stood. She laughed and pulled him after her. “You have to come quick, there are two trainees in the barn, asleep, and I thought might like to help me prank them! I have the stuff, I just need help. Please, lets hurry before they wake up!†She hoped he bought it.

Nestled against Faith, Aran was quite happily dreaming about some of his younger days in Cairhien when he was shaken and half pulled to his feet. Shaking his head as he was pulled along by Dene, he grinned as he realised what Dene was saying. She'd almost become prim and proper since becoming a Tower Guard after her celebration party, at least when it came to pranks. He'd figured she'd relax back to her usual self given time, and it'd be nice to be part of a prank with her. What she had in mind for him he wasn't sure, but after all the pranks he'd involved her in it'd have to be good.

Slowing down when they reached the stables, Dene motioned for him to follow her quietly. Stealthily, they made their way into the stable. Not that it was necessarily needful with the noise from horses and the like, but the noise of boots could wake up trainees where hooves would not.

Stopping as Dene signalled, Aran waited as she moved ahead, then turned to him. Holding up his hands to her with a questioning look, he asked her silently what she needed him to do next. Before she could give any answer, there was a scuffling movement above him. Looking up, his face went from furtive to surprised and shocked.

Blue.

Lyv had climbed up into the rafters where in winter times the hey was stored for the horses in the stables. She settled in a spot close to the door, so that Deneira did not have to lure Aran too far inside. As they came in, she watched carefully and was quiet, as quiet as she could possibly be. She chuckled as she heard them speak of this prank that Aran would be helping in when Deneira moved aside and Aran looked up. That was her cue and she dropped the first bucket down. She did not throw the bucket down as well, but the first of the paint did hit the mark beautifully. He should not have been looking up, he was covered.

Laughing, Lyv quickly dunked a new bucket over the shocked blue face of Aran. She giggled and took the last bucket, but something was wrong. She lost her grip and suddenly one foot dangled lose in the air. Lyv did what she could to hold onto the third bucket and steady herself, but the weight of the paint was too much for her one hand. She had to let go her second hand with which she was holding on. Dunking the bucket, it landed neatly next to Aran who had took a step aside.

Only, Lyv followed right after the bucket and landed right on top of Aran who succeeded in standing just in the right spot. Everything hurt all of a sudden, but she could hear Deneira laughing and had no choice but to laugh with her. This was like the cherry on top of the cake, “Incoming!†she called out, a little late even Lyv had to admit. She tried to scramble back to her feet, to give Aran room to breathe and rolled to the ground where she continued to laugh before finally getting up. Lyv stuck out a hand to help Aran back on his feet too, grinning she said, “Thanks for the soft landing there,†and then had a good look at what their paint prank had done to him. “It’s as if the sky came toppling down on you Aran!†she said and doubled over laughing.

Deneira led aran into the stables, motioning him to be quiet. They stepped lightly, trying to not let much sound emit from under their boots. She put her finger to her lips, then moved off to the side as he looked at her questioning. Aran looked up, and blue fell down onto him. Deneira burst out laughing, and Lyv followed that one with another bucket. The Master Prankster had been pranked!

The third bucket was soon to come, but it dropped down beside aran as a startled Lyv fell into his arms. Aran held onto her, and Deneira almost fell over laughing. Aran took as step, as if to set down Lyv, and his feet slid in the paint, his back now on the floor. Deneira took the opportunity to run forward and grab the last bucket, pouring it over them both.

Lyv looked a little shocked, but Aran was laughing as she winked at them, then blew a kiss. “Ya know, you two look a little blue!†she ran out of the stable laughing, then watched from the door she struggled off of him, and he struggled up. This was too perfect…

Aran's mistake was in thinking the first bucket was the only one. But no, there came a second that proceeded to drench him even further. Trying to wipe his eyes, clear so he could see, he staggered to one side as he opened them again only to find Lyv in his field of vision before she hit. At which point, everything hurt, and paint was in his eyes again.

Managing to clear his eyes again, he found Lyv was laughing herself silly, which was silly in itself because Deneira was rather precocious. Seeing the opportunity, Deneira raced over and dumped a third bucket on Lyv as Lyv was helping him get up before running off to the door. Aran was laughing his arse off even as Lyv looked shocked, she should have known better than to think Deneira wouldn't take the opportunity.

Getting to his feet with Lyv's help, he nudged her while looking over at Deneira. "You know, I think she could use a dip." Deneira hadn't expected both of them to surge after her at once, but that they did. Racing ahead, Aran knew that Deneira was quite the runner, but Aran wasn't too bad himself and Lyv was just as good if not better. If they didn't catch her immediately, they'd corner her sooner or later. When that happened, Aran was going to use his shirt to wipe the paint all over her face before he was done!
