Egwene mourns the idea of their relationship more than the relationship itself. She and Rand cared deeply for each other, but they were growing apart almost from the moment they left the Two Rivers. Egwene doesn’t dwell on the breakup, but she carries its echo.
Not as a wound — as a memory of who she was, and how far she’s come.
