It's a beautiful day in Fidalia, and a beautiful day in Fidalia is beautiful indeed. The sky gleams an impossible blue, the sun hanging like burnished bronze over the town. An eagle dives and swoops through the clouds, careful to stay away from the vultures circling over the ashes of Corlan Dashiva's rare book store.

Dashiva himself lay prostrate in the middle of the devastation, staring eyes wide, his body the only unburnt item within what had been the bounds of his shop, excepting only the town coroner, Fire Marshal and the chief of detectives.

"So, have they escalated to murder? Or was this insurance arson?"

The Fire Marshal chewed his lower lip, mulled it over. "Oh, it was arson, all right. But for the insurance? No. Not Corlan Dashiva. Man refused to so much as sell a manuscript if he didn't think the buyer would give it a proper home. Burn books? For money? No, I'd say not."

The coroner nodded along. "I agree. As far as I can tell, the poor roleless innocent dropped dead of shock when he saw the devastation."

"So," the chief said, "the Fidalia boys. Don't look at me like that. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - this is no random crimewave. I believe it, and I have some of my best agents working to find out who's behind it. And now that they've escalated to murder - unintentional, I know, but it's felony murder nonetheless, and now they know they'll hang for it - well, odds are they won't shy from killing on purpose any more. We need to stop them before they outnumber us, pick us off one by one." The chief took a deep breath, exhaled slowly. "The hunt is on, gentlemen. Them or us . . . its them or us."

I will provide you with the following information to start off with, and a careful read of the intro should answer at least one other basic question.

Of the roles you've seen in this or other games, any, all or none may be active. The two that I will say definitively are active, though not necessarily in the normal way, are finder and healer type abilities.

That's all the information you'll get from me for now. The Double Blind won't officially open until the Illuminator's guild game ends - I won't worry about setting deadlines or counting votes until then - but once it does . . .

It looks like the other game is winding down, so whoever it was who was playing in that one will be coming around soon too. I don't know myself, I've just been checking it the last couple days to see when those guys will be finished so we can get this up and running.

All I can say is all will be revealed at the end of the game. And I always (well, this is my first game modding, but it's my plan to) try to pick names that have a hidden meaning as to how the game is being run.

I just want this boring day 1 to be over with, as at the moment we have nothing to go on, we don't even know who is who. I know it sucks to be killed day 1, and I can understand wanting to protest/not be you, but what can I say?
