Confused about how exactly Morgaise is related to Galad

I am super confused about how the two are related. I am reading the 5th book (the fires of heaven). It was mentioned in the prologue that galad is morgaise’s step son. I am confused as to who Galad’s parents are and who gawyn and ellaine’s father is. Hoping someone could give a spoiler free explanation or whether it will be mentioned later on in the books. Also I was confused why gareth bryne said that he was surprised to see an aiel use a sword. Is this something that I missed that aiel don’t use swords but only use other weapons. Or does it have something to do with the original aiel who followed the way of the leaf. Also how did nynaeve defeat moghedien in the shadow rising I never expected her to be at that power level! Galad is the Son of Tigraine Mantear and Taringail Damodred.
Elayne & Gawyn's Father is Taringail Damodred, and their Mother is Morgase Trakand.

Moiraine Damodred, is Taringail's half-sister, so she is also Galad's Half-Aunt, and is effectively Elayne, and Gawyns step-Aunt.
