Well, somehow, we survived the KoD rush. Our traffic was higher than ever and our poor, under-powered server was beat to death. But we survived and had no downtime. (Everyone please give the server a gentle pat and thank it.)

Because all of you were kind enough to purchase your copies of KoD through our links, and because you were kind enough to visit our sponsors by clicking on their banners, we have a little cash lying around and its time to do a server upgrade. Here's the plan as of right now:

- Bring the server down

- Upgrade hardware

- Install new versions of everything. Including the database and message boards

- Clean up some of the out-dated pages

- Freshen up the site design

The result will mean faster boards, more options on the boards (we're going to use the standard phpBoards without any funny modifications), easier to manage user profiles for all our services, polls that work, an updated art gallery (finally, after 2 or more years!), and a lot more.

I'm also thinking of making the ASK THE CHOSEN "weekly column" into a regular blog and put some more guidelines on it. The result should be more regular updates for everyone, and the ability for the contributors to more easily post fresh content.

The site will probably be down for a week or two. Or longer, I don't know. We'll put up temporary message boards and we'll have a basic website up which gives you updates, but expect this to take a little while.

Robert Jordan's blog will probably be offline during this time. He'll be updated on all this of course, so you shouldn't miss any of his posts.

Dmail service will not be interrupted. So you will still be able to use our email without any problems.
