Although it's several days late, here are two very good reports from the Santa Cruz, CA book signing event. Both are from people who drove several hundred miles to go to the event. (Note to DM staff...next time, organize a ride share!)
The first report is from Jeremiah:
The second report is from Sean:
Thanks to both of you guys!
If you can possibly believe it, Dragonmount.com has been online for 8 years now. It began as a small website and mailing list assembled so that I could talk to people about the Wheel of Time books, but it exploded into something much bigger. Thank you to everyone who visits and contributes to the site. Thank you to the dedicated individuals who have been coming here for years and have stuck around even when things get dramatic or tiresome. Thank you to Tor Books, and all the other vendors who
Among the many news reports and media coverage surrounding Robert Jordan's death is a wonderful report from the Charleston Post and Courier. It contains a poem that Harriet (RJ's wife) wrote in memory of him. The poem is entitled "Arachne".
Here is the link to view the article and poem.

tears come so heavy they obscure the sun,

We as the Illuminators Guild would like to open up submissions for our bi-annual Dragonmount Anthology. This anthology will focus on Poetry. Multiple submissions are welcome. All works must be original pieces, they may be odes to your favorite author but please do not write with in their worlds, about them yes, in them no. For example you can write a poem about how the Wheel of Time books make you feel, but you cannot write a poem depicting Rand's escape from the box at Dumai’s Wells. You will
The Dragonmount.com had a hard drive failure today. Thankfully, due to (semi) frequent backups, we're back online and all is (mostly) well. The most noticable change is that all data on the site is outdated by a while. All forum or news postings since Feb 23rd have been lost. Only one of Robert Jordan's blog entires was lost, but we will restore that ASAP.
Here's what we're going to do in the meantime:
- Restore RJ's lost blog entry (Sorry, comments since 2/25 are gone though)
- Repa
The "Adventures in Scifi Publishing" podcast has posted a show in which they have a great conversation with Brandon Sanderson. In it, he talks about being hired to write A Memory of Light, the upcoming final novel of the Wheel of Time series.
You can get more information and get the episode on the Adventures in Scifi Publishing website.
I am going to be attempting to put together an online "Get Well" Talent display for all members of Dragonmount. Anyone is welcome to participate, talented in your opinion or not, it's the thought that counts.
The idea is to create a webpage (several to be exact) that is dedicated to telling and showing RJ how much his world means to us and that we wish him well in his treatment and recovery periods.
If you write poetry feel free to submit something.
If you make graphics feel free to
The Dragonmount Writer's Guild will be accepting submissions for both artwork and short stories for exactly one more week. Any submissions that reach my inbox (matalina@gmail.com) with a timestamp later than Oct 31, 2007 at 11:59pm will not be accepted.
Please see the Dragonmount Writer's Guild forums for all the information you will need for your submissions.
On the evening of September 18th, there will be an event in Charleston, SC (Robert Jordan's home town) where Michael Livingston, a Citadel professor, will give a talk on RJ and his work.

The Dragonmount Writer's Guild now has merged with the Illuminator's Organization here at Dragonmount and we have taken on the Dragonmount Anthology. We are in the final stages of the anthology. We will not be able to make a January 1st release date as hoped, but we have not forgotten the project, it's just taking a little longer than we'd planned on.
I will keep you up todate on this as it developes.
Here are some preview images from the upcoming Eye of the World comic book, issue #1. (Issue #0, "Dragonmount" was previewed here)

Very often we receive news that somebody is interested in creating a fan-based Wheel of Time game. One group is getting organized about it and has some documentation and forums set up. They are actively seeking developers and artists. If you're interested in learning more, follow the link below.
Note: this game is not yet created, and won't be for a while. There isn't anything to see yet. But the more programmers, modelers, artists, testers, and fans who voice their support at the link
Okay, I've been playing with this for a little while, testing and retesting.
I've brought the FAQ down for the next 20 minutes or so. When it comes back up, it will actually work!
All of the content of the FAQ will still be there when it returns, but some stuff, such as page views, may be gone.
Updates when it returns.
[update: The FAQ is back up, and should now be working. Thanks for your patience.]
Just a reminder to everyone that the new DMail service (http://mail.dragonmount.com) will launch tomorrow. Existing mail users will no longer have access to their accounts from the old system. If you are an exsting DMail user you should have received your new password by now.

Hi everyone,

We have a lot of awesome things in store for you at the new site. It was re-built from the ground up and includes all new Robert Jordan's blog.

The forums will be locked later tonight for about an hour for all non-Admin members while I migrate all of the content. Once the forums come back online, all of the posts, private messages and usernames will still work fine, nothing will be lost. I am only locking the forums to ensure that no
