Both this story and its predecessor, "Among the Silvering Herd," are prequels to her novel, Child of a Hidden Sea. When she is not working on her own fiction, Dellamonica teaches writing online via the UCLA Extension Writers' Program and makes and posts thousands of digital photographs, many of them, lately, on Instagram.
