  1. I should probably preface my post by saying that I am not exactly new to the fantasy genre. I have read the most obvious of authors, JRR, GRRM, Jordan, R.Scott, Erikson, Weis and Hickman, and others. Saying that, I would have to say that Memories of Iceis one of the best books that I have read. This book reminds me of why I was drawn into the fantasy genre. Erikson writes in a way that inevitably draws the reader into the lives of the characters, and without you realizing it, developing an emotional relationship with those people. I found the pacing of the book to be really well handled, along with the action sequences. The last 200 pages were really something of a wonder, and the events that took place are something that will stay with me for some time to come. In my mind, never has the price of war been shown to be so high as in those last scenes in Coral. For anyone that might be thinking of reading this series, I highly recommend it. Erikson takes you on a ride that never lets up. And that is a very good thing.
  2. The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool. Almost Famous
  3. I haven't read any Zelazny. I plan on doing that soon. I just finished some regular fiction that I have been meaning to get to.
  4. Animus those two aren't in the amber chronicles. The Amber chronicles include Nine Princes in Amber, The Guns of Avalon, Sign of the Unicorn, The Hand of Oberon, The Courts of Chaos, Trumps of Doom, Blood of Amber, Sign of Chaos, Knight of Shadows, and Prince of Chaos.
  5. The Prince of Nothing series by R. Scott Bakker is pretty good. It is nice to read a series that is only 3 books long after reading an epic like WOT. I am going to start reading either Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson or The Amber Chronicles by Roger Zelazny.
  6. I have only been reading WOT for about 4 years so I don't have the stories that most do that have been reading the works of Robert Jordan for many many years. I have the personality that when there is something that I find interesting, I dive in with two feet. As soon as I got past "The Dragon Reborn" I knew that this series would be something that I would have with me for a long time. For this reason I decided that I had to do something that would display my affection for the series. So at the start of the summer I started to brainstorm ideas of what I can do to show my appreciation and to spread the wonder of WOT. Ideas ranged from getting a tattoo to creating a personalized sweatshirt (The latter of which I did end up doing). I finally decided that I would get a vanity plate for my car that had something to do with WOT. After some thought and helpful suggestions from the members of Dragonmount, I decided to get BLCK-TWR for my car. Since my car is black I thought that it was an appropriate fit. I got my vanity plate the day after Robert Jordan passed. I have gotten many questions and compliments about the plate since. Some people asked me why I would want to get something like that when not everyone knows what it means. I reply to them that for the people that recognize the reference, it means something, like a secret password that allows access into a club. For the people that ask what it means, I spend some time to tell them what it means and hopefully turn another person onto Robert Jordan's work. The only thing that I wish I could have done differently would have been to order the plate sooner. I feel that this is the least that I can do for a person that has taken me away from day to day life, and placed me in a world where even a simple farm boy can grow into something magnificent. For that, and many other reasons, Robert Jordan you will be missed.
  7. God Speed you Black Emperor "East Hastings" would fit in pretty nicely. I don't know where but it is a great song. Maybe in one of the forsaken battles.
  8. So I had my Ipod on shuffle today and Disturbed "Down With the Sickness" comes on. I started thinking if Wheel of time is somehow made into a movie/tv series/whatever, how awesome it would be for "Down With the Sickness" to be playing during the Dumai Wells scene. Anyone else have some songs that they think would fit certain scenes?
  9. Thanks for all the input. I didn't know that it was going to be this hard to pick one out. I am going to have to think on this for a little bit.
  10. I like B KNLT, 4SAKEN, and BLCKTWR. I think that the last one is my favorite since my car is black.
  11. I was thinking about getting a vanity plate for my car but I am not quite settled on one in particular. The three I am thinking about are SHIRAK (From Dragonlance), VLR MRGS (From ASoIAF), and LRD O KAS (From Wheel of Time). Let me know what you think and if you come up with any others.
  12. This one was in TPoD but I forget where exactly. I forget who it was said by but it was directed towards Rand. "When you die, people begin to forget, who you were and what you did, or tried to do. Everybody dies eventually, and everybody is forgotten, eventually, but there's no bloody point dying before your time comes."
