  1. I am sitting here trying to get thru E05 and I just don't find it interesting or thought provoking. As a long time fan of the books, This should be canceled now.

No I am not a stickler for staying true to the books, I just find that the story as they are telling it to just be poorly done.  I have read Foundation, then watched the show and thought it was decent even though it wasn't true to the books, Same for Game of Thrones, Even Starship Troopers which was very far from the book was at least entertaining in it's own right.

But honestly this is just a travesty of poor writing, poor pacing, and poor acting, At least the scenery is fairly decent.

Dune, GOT, and LOTR are all good examples of how it should be done. I have started to read Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch books after watching the series and that was another series that was very well done and now that I am reading the books, There are some changes but nothing that makes me want to rip out my eyes.

I am faithfully waiting for it to be canceled

I’m surprised to see you were disappointed with the ending. If I may ask, what did you expect? It’s probably the most satisfactory and perfect ending I’ve ever seen for me.

He tried to smash down a door to run away and was terrified of a small woman, whilst fought for his life against an 8ft Trolloc. IMO, it was not realistic.  He would have simply overpowered her before she ever got hold of the sword and even then would have simply taken it off her.

It's called a World Without Humans. A TV series.

Aridhol arose as one of the covenant of the 10 nations, 209 AB, but is a special circumstance; without life, erosion can't happen. No bugs, no vines, no creeping ivy, no nesting animals. Just mountains of unliving stone, and wind, and rain.

The opening monologue clearly shows its feminist objectives. Men with their arrogance broke the world. That was the exact moment I knew this show was going to be trash. Mark my words. This will continue to be a male bashing show of epic proportions. This has the same feel and tone as the atrocity known as Batwoman tv show on CW. This WoT show is dead on arrival and we all know why.

Have you actually read the books? It is obvious that Rafe didn't as there is no need to make anything feminist, Starting with how the Womens Circle is portrayed in the books to Elayne telling Rand the Lion Throne is not his to give to how Aiel Wise ones decide who can go to Rhuidean to become chief, even down to Rand after becoming Car-a-Carn getting his ass handed to him by the Maidens. WOT has always had a very heavy women in charge vibe. Why become offended by small changes that don't really effect story

Oh, that would be most interesting (!) although I wonder how much of Thom's backstory will be included. I also wonder if the show will even reference the politics and battles occurring because of the influence of false dragons.

I find it weird. Just like I find it weird when my favorite football team starts losing a bunch of people who've never posted on the forum about it come out of the woodwork and cry about it. Why weren't they interested enough to talk about positives before?

And yes the only ones I've noticed are haters so far but I haven't been focused on it.

aybe I’m reading too deep, but I saw some powerful symbolism in this scene. The river clearly represents saidar. Eg has to surrender to the current to keep from drowning. I would not be surprised if the spring feeds into the river. Nynaeve keeps the pool clean, as part of her duties as Wisdom, foreshadowing when she helps Rand cleanse the taint later. The trolloc pollutes the pool and Nynaeve kills it, further symbolizing her role later in the books.

And there is the question of why the Trolloc's blood made a fang-shape in the water in the first place? Was it because the Dark One's evil influence just makes things look like fang-shapes sometimes, when his dark minions are involved? Or was it just because of, ya know, symbolism is cool? Except, is it? Seems like hokey fan-service to me, unless there is a deeper, in-world explanation forthcoming.

Where in episode 1 is that mentioned? In episode 2 we see trollocs crossing the shallow river right behind the group and when approaching Taren Ferry Moiraine says trollocs are afraid of deep water. In episode 3 the trolloc walks in the pond. Maybe a bit too careless, I admit, but it doesn't jump right in.

I think the show could have used an intro like how Galadriel intro'd LotR.

I agree with this, I was thinking that they should have started with The New Spring, Or at least the scene with the foretelling that sets Moraine on her path.

That was a 5-10 min scene that could have set up the story a hell of a lot better then it has been handled.

Was the water that deep? Little over waist high? Small pond with no current and sudden deep spots. Why would a trolloc be afraid of that?

Because of what was said in E1 about they having a fear of water, So much so that they wouldn't cross small streams.  The pool was cloudy so there was no way to see how deep it was. So yes I stand by my question.

  13. It doesn't bother anyone that in E1 it is mentioned that Trollocs hate deep water then in this episode Nyneave kills one after it follows her and search's in a deep pool?  Also how did she find everyone when they are on horses and moving quickly and she is on foot?

Suspension of disbelief is important but this is not something you can just ignore.

I have to say, I am very disappointed in the 3 episodes I have watched so far, Not just because I am a fan of the books.

I have been able to overlook some of the glaring deviations from the source material.

But the poor CGI, bad pacing, poor plot explanations, wooden acting, make this  hard to watch, It is sad that this might make it thru 2 seasons (only because they have already paid for 2 seasons)  but I don't see the writing, acting or effects being strong enough for it to last to MOL And it is not because of the source being to difficult to bring to TV. The Expanse, Foundation, GOT, Dune and LOTR's have all have very intense and complex stories and so so far they have all been able to have decent runs.

  14. I first read EOTW, TGH and TGH at the end of 1990. I followed the series for a couple of years then took a very long break and earlier this year started reading the series again with the goal of finally finishing and now am 1/2 way thru my first reading of AMOL

I am watching this episode and have to say as a fan of the books I was excited for the series but I am decidedly disappointed in how far off the source material it is. I don't see this lasting,

The actors they have playing some of the characters and the changes in the story and relationships doesn't work for me.

While it had potential to be a GOT contender because both book series are great source material, GOT at least stayed true to the source material as long as it could and only minimally deviated. Wot in the first episode is far off the mark and should be called a VERY loose interpretation of the books written by RJ. I might watch e2 but not sure it is will be worth the time.

If had to rate this on a scale of 1-10 I would give it a  4.
