  1. I’ve watched Episode 1 three times so far… introducing new people to it and whatnot… and I keep catching new things I’ve missed in previous watchings.  For instance, the dragon fang with the sheep, missed that the first time around. Was that the Trollocs (most likely, but I don’t remember Trollocs being THAT intelligent) or someone doing that to scare someone off?

And Perrin’s wife, Laila.  I’m questioning if she may or may not be a dark friend like people have suggested.   I watched the 2nd time specifically looking for clues….  When Perrin says “I love you” she responds “I know”.  Not a typical response of a married couple.  (Unless you’re in the cloud city of Bespin about to be frozen in carbonite).  But the way she attacked the Trollocs, makes me question it.  BUT… she then looks like she’s about to smash Perrin’s skull in with the hammer.    It’s all very confusing, but I like it better thinking she is a dark friend.  Thoughts?

Still feel the episode was rushed and could have used more character development, but they’re getting there in the later episodes.   Watching episode 2 for the second time now.

I’m still excited about this series.  I know it’s going to be different than the books, but damn, I e been wanting this for so long!!

  2. I just finished episode 4.

I gotta say, I’m liking the series so far.  Sure, it stays away from the books a lot, and I fully expected it too.

I have one question about this episode, and forgive me if this was posted before, but I haven’t read all 52 pages of this thread yet. Lol.  But did Mat leave the Shadar Logoth dagger behind when they fled the Myrddraal?  I didn’t catch that.

i usually watch episodes 2-3 times so maybe I’ll see it next play through

Yeah, my partner (who hasn't read the books) was like, "That came out of nowhere! Why is he so angry?" And I had the exact same thought process and confusion after E3 as you did.

It's like they wanted to establish that Rand is stubborn and will not just do what Moiraine tells him... but also needed to give him a reason to keep going with the journey... but the overall effect is bemusing.

I haven’t watched the 2nd or 3rd episode yet, but if you remember, in the books, how the women of Edmonds Field (or in this case Two Rivers) always said their men were stubborn and needed to be prodded certain ways, and make it seem like it was the men’s idea in the first place.  Could be that’s what the show is trying to establish.

    just my two cents

Things I'd missed or wasn't sure of in my early viewing that I caught this time:

    • The dead sheep in the shape of the Dragon's fang. Awesome
    • I didn't notice there were 2 Trollocs in the scene with Perrin and his wife which makes what happens a bit more understandable in terms of why he swung.
    • Fain just swaggering away with a grin on his face. Perfect.

Agree with everything you said.   I, too, missed the sheep part.  Was like “aaack”.  Had to pause and explain to my g/f what that symbolizes.   And Fain (thought his character was perfect) sauntering off was also just perfect ??

@KnightWhoSaysNiSo when you are on episode 3. Open x-ray. You do this by:

On app - tapping the screen.

On PC - mouse over screen

on fire stick and tv app - up button on remote.

    Go to bonus content.

There are three animated shorts with more to come as part of Wheel of Time Origins.

Cool!!!   Thanks! I’ll definitely check those out!

Welcome! Glad to have you. This is what the series does - i hope...bring the community together...new and old.

Keep watching. Also do not forget the Origins shorts (they show up in xray starting in 2 and then 3. Id say wait till 3 since they appear based on episode so 3 contains all prior ones

    What’s Origin shorts?

  7. Hi everyone!

I'm new here and don't want to step on anyone's toes, obviously.  I just posted in the "Introduce Yourself" thread so if you want to know my backstory go there.  lol

I just watched the 1st episode.... twice.   I'm kind of split on if I liked it or not.   I'm definitely ecstatic that it is finally here, so I will watch it and continue to watch it.   I agree with one of the other posters about the editing.  It felt to cut-up and not fluid, made it a little dizzying to watch (I'm speaking mostly of the Battle of Bel Tine)  Of course, I may just be an old fart and get dizzy easily.

I realize that this is an interpretation of the books, so it won't be what I imagined, but what I don't get (and I may have missed if this has been discussed before) but they missed out on what I thought was a very important character.  In other words, he wasn't there.   I'm sure if you're here, you know who I'm talking about.

One last thing about the episode I did enjoy, the scenery and the One Power effects.  I was wondering how they were going to be bringing it to life, and I thought they did an exceptional job.  Being that it is an Amazon show (I've no idea what sort of budget they had)

Ok, like I said, I'm just really really excited for this series.  And however it turns out in later episodes or whatnot, I'll still love and reread the books.

Please be gentle, I am new here ? lol

  8. Hi there!  My name is Chris and I LOVE The Wheel of Time series.  I read the first 5 books way back when I was in my early 20's or so.   Then, when the 6th book came out, I reread the first 5, and then the 6th.   When the 7th book arrived, I reread the first 6...etc etc.   Needless to say, I've read these books A LOT!  I remember when I was reading them, which character I would love to have played in the movie/show if it was ever to be made (I was a theatre major in college and had hopes and dreams back then.  lol)

Anyways, I'm excited as all hell about the series and talking about it!   I just finished the first episode, but I won't talk about it here.

Thank you!   I can't wait to have fun discussions here!
