WoT is finished.... WoT is this....

I'm just going to say that this attitude on this forums of this is how it all is and now you just have to accept it is

deplorable.....

I al lament hte fact that WoT seems to have to exist in such a weird context...

For one, it's written in South Carolina using the old system meant to deal with African slaves of the 19th century....

Tnat is reprehensible, though it's couched in a number of differnt ways that make it obscure.....

Secondly, the author died and that has made everyone uneasy and blame has gone out, and also taken by

many anti-fans to mean the end of the series... which may hae threatened their ego or soomething at some point

now they know definitively X character is gone or something it has been game of Throned.

Third, it has not now been awhile , or rather now been awhile 1990 to now 29 years is a long time for this book....

So people have forgotten it or never heard of it... and finally now the TV show which has rressurected not the

enjoyment of the series but veiled excuses to talk about issues 1-3.... how depressing.

Even on this forum there are many who would still say ah but this is an enviromnment where I can talk down to

X Y Z and they have no co choice this is crazy... such people or persons are formulating their e response to this post as we speak.

This is what I would propose.....

Lets not using every piece of popularity with the series etc to push a point... as all that happened in this thread....

Secondly no more 19th century garbage from America, please, thanks.

Third, even though Wheel of Time has techniacally finished many changes could be made at many different points

and should be made as the series interruption has to do with geo politics really and not other things.

This place should be a place to

1. Bring fans of the series together, because they WANT to be here and are supportive.

2. Discuss the theories and series points in an environment which is constructive and open to

criticism or cah change.

3. Listen to the news/new ideas with excitement but not having it all be destroyed either because

one person doesn't like it or something hast o to control conversation.

Then we can stop saying well there is good here but but but, we can just say Wheel of Time is a great series

that has just begun in a sense, begun to bring in new fans, begun to be recognized, begun to be a part of something

other than well you are one of those types produce a masterpiece for us with your life sort of deal....

Edit: One other thing I want to add is what occurred is most everyone of a certain point

whe went int he Harry Potter route that is to say that became the series for nerds to follow

as it simply didn't exist in the WoT spectrum of 19th century issues.....

Not one person wanted WoT really.....

Because in Harry Potter there isn't all this... negativity....

However, one issue is that Harry Potter isn't for everyone the characters are unique and WoT

offers diversity in this respect.

I propose however simply that Harry Potter and WoT exist together, both for people who

want different things can get them. Different types of magic for different types of

wizards.

On.... er... none....

One of hte gigfts of RJ universe is that characters have this transparent introduction amk makes everything easy to see/understand.

the later it is the less reason to bother.

Finally yes the sereiis is tragically altered by rapid shifts in the intensity...

The first one is straight and suffers a bit for it.

2-4 go much quicker for example.

Perrin's incredibly interesting because he is a heroic defender of his faith/values without resorting to violence it's atypical in fantasy series for the most part.....

Although as we know he does occasional use violence... it's essentially a primitive tribal ish religino almost.

Mat's the complete opposite.

Ok here's the thing... this could definitely rbing attention to the series which is good....

But there's no way it would honor the books which already don't even honor themselves....

So I think it should go ahead and basically introduce everything about it, make money, revive the series in a minor way...

And then that minor revival can ideally pave the way for really doing the series justice.

that's my 5 step or so plan.

Almost anyone could have conquered Randland as poeple call it at almost any time... pretty much anyone except rand.

It's a familiaar issue in fiction at times which is the all conquering super hero figure is presumed some kind of equivalent

world level power and so on when that's just not the case...

WoT consists of a large place with a vast amount of interactions between different people... and it's clear after

The fall of tear that even though Rnad possesses a great deal of magic and power and allies it's no better

than faction for getting people into and out of trouble and bad situations... which is altogether pretty neat on it's

own.

Rand is absolutely 100% the  creator etc... it's likely none of the v events major or minor would have occurred without the Two Rivers scenario... it's pivotal to everything that comes after from the POV of the books.

There's a chance you could argue that the world is self-sustaining without him... but it wouldn't have existed without

him either so the point is moot.

He is not everyone's least favorite character..  in fact overwhelmingly prefered to Galad for ex easy.. by myself.

What to keep: The idea of a wheel of time TV series

What to drop: This particular wheel of time TV series.

I want to say first book 11-12-13 or so. Can't remember waiting on any.

She really didn't honestly... repeating myself but Mat's just a mistake IMO .

An RJ specific thing we never really got learn what would of happened.

Tar Valon is just yet another example of writers/geographers/etc people who do this going all

insane and weird over unusual geography like sounds, inlets, islands with a rock in the middle in a river etc....

Out of all the things on the map it's the only thing that caught my attentionf or being strange... but not for this

reason....

Like if you try and read a description of Seattle and the surrounding areas it's like 4000000000000000 pages

of people just flittering about because it's so unique, it's an odd phenomenon I've found.

It will be a big waste of everyones time because the book series really isn't finished itself, which I know doesn't

answer these e questions.

The only valid parts of WOT are RJ only parts... not because I don't like Sanderson but because

obviously.

it's all irreelevant because Mat really should never have been a key character in the series.

RJ's biggest mitake mistake outside of book 4 is Mat's whole arc.

RJ is obvious with his things and that's great, it's Rand clearly.

Yes I'd agree with that.

The direction of the series should have shifted with Book 4, it's pretty clear that Rand is ultra significant in Aiel culture hence all the terminology and stuff surrounding him whereas where i he is actually from Two Rivers is incredibly messed up and constnatly being fought over by forces far more nefarious and extreme than he is and his small band of people.

The book basically all works from 1-4 but then at that point, and it's clear that's partly why Two Rivers is there to wrap up at the end of Book 4 is because they are extracting from a super dangerous situation.. it's all T boned at that point and the logical method should have been to spend all of Book 5-10 or so in Aiel lands sort of partially in exile from Two Rivers, with only Tar Valon and a few forces keeping the balance.

Books 5-10 as they are written should be convereted to RJ notes and should of been a code coda to this alternate route.

The fall of Tar Valon/stilling/destruction of Aes Sedai in Book 4...

The white p tower rather is pivotal to the series, Tar Valon is of central importance but it's complete twist at this point is very imbalanced and does not do the series justice at all.

I more or less realized that I stopped having interest in the series susb substantially after this point...

I hate to say it but I honestly also think this is just authorial intrigue and randomness... I don't know Mr. Jordan personally but like most men of his era he probably was bound to have misogynistic impulses and all that....

The series easily could have continued from that point with that entire sequence adn the White Tower playing a bigger role going forward... instead it becomes sorta an afterthought for most of the series while everything else takes center stage.

I realize not all female characters get this takedown but when it's contrary to the characters and all that it's pretty brutal.

Also in classic fashion it ruins continuity because parts after that book are still very interesting and in the vein of WOT in general.
