  1. Absolute trash. I kept hanging on through the season, hoping the show would redeem itself, but all O can say now is it is absolute rubbish. Maybe someone who hasn't read the books and enjoys watching CW shows like Riverdale may like it, but the changes they made throughout the season, and especially in the finale, have convinced me that I won't be tuning in for Season 2.

The first 6 books of this series are strong, after that, it starts to fall apart IMO.

I agree with this...the books had a notable shift at this point in the series. It almost felt as through there was a struggle to decide how to proceed. To me they picked back up some spark where Brandon Sanderson jumped it to carry the series over the line, even thought the spark was a little...different.

However, to me the series already feels like the wheels are coming off (pun intended?). I'm almost at the point where I have to tell myself it is an entirely different story, just so I don't get irritated. I would that is likely my main issue : The changes are significant enough that it irritates me to the point that it is distracting from the show itself. I can't objectively enjoy the show because in my head I am saying thing s like "Wait...If saidar is needed to open a Waygate, how are the Trollocs and myrddraal able to travel and attack various places? In the books the Borderlands kept them at bay". It feels like the changes were sometimes made just for the sake of change, without thought to the implications down the road.

I would say I am firmly in the camp of not appreciating the changes...at least so far. TO me, every time there is a major change, all I can see is the ripple effect down the road and further changes or issues it will create that that the series further from what I know and love.

The logical part of me says it is just like when a band covers a song and puts their own spin on it, but I enjoyed the original series so much that when i see major points either glossed over or changed entirely, it really sours me. I'm almost at the point where I am watching it just to see how many other changes they make, kind of like slowing down to gawk at a bad car crash.

  4. I really want to like this series, but there is just so much already "wrong" with what they are doing...trying to throw some sort of possibility that Egwene or Nyneave could be the Dragon Reborn is foolish and goes against the whole premise of the fact that the Dragon has to be male...and then the taming of Logain at the end of the episode, without judgement from the White Tower....that goes against everything Moiraine believes in the books. To me those were a couple of big mis-steps that doesn't do the books or characters justice...hopefully they can recover, but every episode there are a couple things that make me cringe in terms of storyline.

  5. I don't like how much "liberty" they are using to change it from the book. In the book no one knew she was Sedai until the attack on the village, as her whole point was to go there under a low profile to investigate her belief in the Dragon Reborn. She only revealed herself to save the village. This entrance and introduction serves no purpose and actually goes against the fact that she was doing this investigation in secret due to fears about the Black Ajah.
