  1. This legacy seems a bit dented already, after all the end is, well pants, I can only guess that when Game of Thrones came around that they looked at the wheel of time and passed, we can only hope that if it makes it to the screen someone will edit it, or at least cut 4 if not 5 books out of it and change that silly ending
  2. Androl was just padding good padding but still not needed, Logain did not need Androl to exist and only BS made a need to have Androl in the books, got to pad of the books to waste readers cash
  3. OK not going to post much about the battles but I will say they were written and planned really badly, too often the same action is repeated and the plans of the battle are well rubbish, for example take the zombie village attacking the dam. so we have a force that will live again after they die, why use them on the dam, when they could have been used elsewhere. you have a guy sitting there opening gateways why not to by pass the dam and tie off the weave and then take the zombie village to the heart of the enemy. the whole battle turned on Lan, not Matt not a plan but in Lan. the last battle kind of sucked and from the many posts I have read others have also thought the same as me, why the hell can't you just get on with it, oh I remember you need to pad the books out to rip off the readers
  4. The more and more I think about the wheel of time as a whole, the more and more sure I am that it’s an abject failure in literature and in planning. The fundamental problem is that we are told what to think, Perrin is a great leader, Rand will save us all, Matt is a great battle lord, yet their actions and what is read in the book does not hold up what is told to us. Even the name seems to be misleading, the wheel of time this is misleading and really untrue. From the last turn of the wheel we are left with many races dead never to return or do we just accept that the turning of the wheel is about how the light confronts the shadow. Except that the shadow is outside of the wheel and not subject to the pattern. So what really does the turning of the wheel mean, going by logic it really does not hold up. Since reading the last book twice I have picked up the latest Tom Clancy book and one battle between the US and China is more exciting than the whole of the last battle. This is not a nock at BS but at RJ who failed the reader. If we were to compare the wheel of time to lord of the rings it would be like ending lord of the rings with Frodo throwing the ring into the pit of doom and not knowing how the battle went and who else lived. I can honestly say that I was a fan of the wheel of time till the last two books, now I would never suggest it to anyone, which is strange cause the eye of the world promised so much and the last three books delivered so little.
  5. So the shadow never was Rand's enemy, That seems kind of Woolheaded, yes I get that the shadow can't win unless they submit to the shadow, but still in what sense is the dark one not the enemy, The shadow was behind all the plans so in a very real sense he was the enemy in every way.
  6. I don't think so, I'm pretty sure that Galad just gave Lan the medallion and he went off on his own to do the deed. That's how I read it, if so then Matt would never had won with out his death, not something he planned.
  7. I have read all of the at least 3 times, and they all say the same, perrin is a great leader, even as he has never shown leadership, telling people to do what they should know what to do is not leadership
  8. Yes, that is exactly what I've said. It gives us a clue that while Nym enhance the "singing" it will still work without them, perhaps not as well, but it still works none the less(just as it does with the Ogier). Again the Nym were a man made construct, they were not a natural part of the world. A talent doesn not hinge on the existence of a construct. Argumentum E Silentio Logical fallacies don't help your cause. I have provided evidence to back my claims and shown with quotes how a number of your intital thoughts were off. All you've done is continue to throw out opinion with nothing to back it up. There is zero evidence to support your claim that the talent of "the voice" needs a man made construct for it to work. Further there never was a single mystical song, that is an indisputable fact. @short I get that and as I've said the Nym would certainly enhance the process if all three are used in unison. I stated that in my first post. I cant prove a negative, thats kind of how that works
  9. part of perrins great ability as a leader, is knowing when to hand over the reigns to another. Perrin is a great logistic leader, and thus would likely make a great peace time leader. Do not underestimate the ability to hand over control of the battle to another, many wars have been lost because the 'leader' couldn't do that. I recall several books where Perrin showed that he is a great leader. Books like TSR, TFOH, LOC, WH, and KOD, as well as TOM. But, perhaps Randless does not recall those Perrin scenes in those books. so where would that be?
  10. Sigh. this most certainly doesn't back up what you were saying. There never was a single "song" and at first you wrongly suggested that Rand could teach them. Then you stated Nym were needed for anyone to have the "talent" to continue to work. I will repeat what I added above. "As I said the Nym can certainly enhance the process when all three groups work together but the "voice" does not dissapear because there are no Nym. That isn't how talents work. There is nothing to suggest that the voice would no longer work, in fact if we go by the Ogier talent we know the opposite is the case." sorry that just does not hold up, the 1 time we read about the song it takes Humans, Ogier the Nym, now your logic is that the Nym are not needed while nothing written by RJ or BS supports this, its just what you think and there is nothing to hold up that in the books Dude there is no and never was a single SONG. As for support in tEotW LTT asks Ishy if he has the "voice" talent. We know the Ogier still have the talent which enhances growing. We know it still works for the Ogier, why on earth wouldn't it for the humans? The song never did exist except as a symbol for the Tinkers. Now the "singing" may be less effective without a Nym as I said in my first post. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that the human talent wouldn't work when the ogier's still does. You have already shown to be wrong about a number of your assumptions on this topic and you seem to have a misconception on this as well. well given that the Ogier's talent does not even come close to that of the Nym as per the first book gives us some clue, also as no human in the book had the talent ever again suggest that you are again wrong

  12. so the one time we read about the song for the only time, its a myth, i think you are misunderstanding the song for singing, they are not the same thingYes RJ has told us the song doesn't actually exist and I'm not misunderstanding anything. & if you had looked earlier in the thread yoou would have seen. Here is some good info to read up on. http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/51179-demystifying-the-song/ so that just backs up what i said, the song is dead
