  1. ive tried to find and fail to find a decent synopsis for the wheel of time as a whole i have a couple of friends that might wanna start reading WoT but whenever i try to explain it all i come up with is: good vs evil fantasy sort of lord of ringsy but totaly different and i cant seem to explain the complexities and positive points without major spoilers any1 help me out with a good synopsis? ty
  2. ok fair enough ;D i shall have to go look into it a wee bit more
  3. Two things:- 1) the world isn't as sexist as it used to be to validate u saying "very sexist" but that neither here nor there, the main thing i wanted to call you up on was... 2) when has it EVER been said that the world of the wheel of time will eventually turn out to be our world?
  4. Rinao = Elayne? Rinao is the daughter of a rebel faction / had dark hair / gets given squalls ring - any of this anything like Elayne? She falls in love with squall but another 2 women don't If anything the whole ring thing is a bit like Lan/Nyneave Al Bhed = Aiel? They live in the desert thats about it They have swirling irises in their eyes / are not particularly tall / nor great warriors / they use reclaimed machina and travel of hover crafts Not being nasty just wondered what u were getting at ;D
  5. 3,678,682 words so far and thats with AMoL at 62% (240k words) It's a long one ;D
  6. I don’t get why everyone here hates Faile and wants her to die – I’m looking at you Dreadlord. While she’s not my favourite character I do enjoy reading about her. I presume people don’t like the way she treats Perrin? But have you stopped to think how she ACTUALLY treats Perrin? Yes she lied to him about her father’s profession when they first met, but she did this because she had just ran away from home and didn’t want to be associated with her house name – she wanted to be her own women and a hunter of the horn. And all the other stuff people say about how jealous she is and that it’s not fair on Perrin how she treats him in regards to Berelain. We only hear about her jealousy because Perrin can actually SMELL her jealously. Also Perrin is ignorant of Faile’s homeland customs .ie. women need to feel as strong as there husband and Perrin’s shouting at Berelain is in turn hurting Faile. Robert Jordan obviously never intended Faile to be character for so much hate or else he wouldn’t have spent so much time developing her individual character separate from her relationship with Perrin. So asking Brandon Sanderson if Faile is going to die is a bit retarded in my view. Kathana Trevalaer posts: I’m interviewing Brandon Sanderson next weekend Dreadlord posts: Do they plan on releasing samle chapters before the release of AMoL? Will Faile die? …I just want Faile to die… Can you call yourself a WoT fan if you constantly express your hate for one the major characters of the latter books? What I’m saying is give it a break.
  7. yeah mate you obviously have never been to a central Scottish public library have you?
  8. I think the audio books bring the story to life more than just reading like when you were a little kid and your parents told you stories and included different voices for differnet characters I do enjoy the audio books, i was given the eye of the world on CD for a birthday and collected them from there but the most upsetting thing about them is the cost in total, from itunes, the collection of books 1 -11 and new spring will cost u £319.49 (or $624.19 US) now i am an huge fan of the series but that is a ridiculous amount of money
  9. http://www.cetvrta-dimenzija.users.cg.yu/4th_dimension_site/engmapsmall.html coulda tried harder to find it honestly i typed online wheel of time map into google lol just messing with ya thekilikabeast
  10. its true that some people can do some weaves and others cant, but weaves like traveling seem to be only based on strength hence current aes sedai link and then can travel so my question still stands how was traveling forgotten? if i were a channeler thats the 1st thing id want to learn its not like people never knew they could do it as randlanders knew it was possible, seems very ignorant to say that it was just simply forgotten because they didn't 'want' to pass the knowledge on, y would they hinder themselves so?
  11. ok, from my understanding the white tower was established soon after the breaking of the world and has survived for 3000 to present randland. my question is how in the hell did the aes sedai forget sooooo many talents? like any form of healing other than the basic field healing they do now and traveling and everything else they seem to have forgotten? how did aes sedai forget so much if they basically established the white tower in the beginning of the 3rd age. i know that the breaking of the world was catastrophic and that the ajah's were formed as groups of women came together then they eventually became the white tower we know today. but these people were from the age of legends - used to all the complicated weaves, how did they forget? did they simply not teach newer aes sedai? i can't believe that. and i can't believe that the black ajah sabotaged the tower to that extend and would they knowingly make themselves less smart just to hurt the other aes sedai? just something i've been thinking about and have never seem on dragonmount before, enjoy :P
  12. I've never really thought of this before but it does make perfect sense that the jumara would turn into 'dragons' if they were allowed to evolve. Maybe an evolved jumara - a fully grown dragon - lives in the high places of the mountains of the blight and is very territorial, so the jumara stopped evolving, as they would need to come above ground to do so and instantly get killed by the dragon, so as a defense mechanism they just stopped evolving side note: i see their evolving/maturing very much like a caterpillar/moth thingy NOW do we think that we will see any jumara or indeed any dragons in the last battle?? ty
  13. has anyone thought of the relevance that eliada's palace has to the story as a whole? i thought it was a bit strange to hear of the construction of her palace - a building that will outshine the white tower. i had an idea that once the last battle was finished or just right before that the aes sedai and the asha'man might join forces which is coming true with both parties bonding each other. maybe warders are now only other channelers and not just fighting men. anyways, i had the idea that eliada's palace would become the home of both the aes sedai and the asha'man, as it has no ties in the randland public's eye to the black tower or the white tower. what do you all think?
  14. I have just recently purchased the FULL WoT audio book collection to date (geeze that was expensive). When i was burn the countless CD's to my itunes I realised that i wanted some cool cover art. Now i'm not the biggest fan of Sweet's cover art because of it's inconsistency but it has to be said it's a hell of alot better than the UK book covers which are boring to say the least. As i proceeded to place the cover art into itunes i just looked awful with that garish text and "best seller" slogans. So i set out on my epic quest to find some decent quality pictures of Sweet's art. Now it wasn't short or easy but i've managed to find nearly all the art for the books without the crappy writing all over them. But i've hit a bump in the road and can't for the life of me find the artwork for Crossroads of Twilight and Knife of Dreams. Thanks in advance. Fraser thekilikabeast

  16. Ah i forgot that it connected him to The Eye - cheers :D And i suppose it could be a rare talent. It just seems very odd that this whole buisness with cords happened over a few chapter at the end of tEotW and then nothing since then. Maybe he could see the cords BECAUSE of his connect to The Eye of the World? and hence hasn't been able to see them since. Did RJ ever comment of the cords at all? Would be nice to see his take on them. Cheers
  17. I suppose that he hasn't got up close and personal with the chosen since then. He has either killed them from a far with balefire or on the run (rahvin) or some1 else has killed them (moraine) and he may not be able to see lanfear’s or semherag's(sp?) because they are female. BUT in tEotW Rand himself has a smaller white cord that extends from behind him and this has never been mentioned before since then, i just find it strange, like RJ just decided to stop running with the idea. Also he comes across some of the forsaken in disguise over the series and never sees anything - even when the openly channel in front of him (I’m thinking of the crossing balefire incident in shadar logoth). And why can only Rand see these ties to the dark one? And I assume his own is to the creator? But the black cords of the male forsaken (do the female forsaken even have them?) protect them from the taint on the male half of the true source – as is the case when assmodean’s is severed, so y does rand have a white one? If it links him to the creator it doesn’t shield him form the taint so what is its function? And what would happen if it was severed? Just some thoughts.
  18. Since tEotW there are very few mentions of these cords that connect people to the power and to the dark one. The only refernece i can really find is when rand cuts asmodeon off from the dark ones security in rhuidian(sp?) but even then he doesnt actually SEE the cord like he does in the first book he just KNOWS where it is to be found. Anyone have any views on why RJ decided to stop us 'seeing' these cords in the later books. Cheers
  19. Hi, I posted before but just want to ask again - can anyone help me find Sweet's cover art for Crossroads of Twilight and Knife of Dreams WITHOUT any of the text and full spread (front and back). I found art work for all the other books and I am just missing these 2. P.S. This is for my itunes as i have just bought the WoT audiobook ENTIRE collection. Thanks in advance Fraser
  20. I have just recently purchased the FULL WoT on audio book (geeze that was expensive) But it has come to me that I want the cover art for my itunes - only thing is all that text and stuff really messes up the picture and looks crowded. After scouring the internet I have managed to find Sweet's original (no text) art for all but two of the books. If anyone knows anything about Crossroads of Twilight and Knife of Dreams I know be very grateful. Thanks in advance. Fraser
  21. Ok i have always wondered y the Ogier gardeners from Seachan never felt the longing? Surely they came from Stedding just as our native Randland Ogier, so y dont they feel the effects of the longing? Any thoughts?
  22. All I can say is they tried to make a single player RPG and it was undoubtedly garbage. I obviously like MMORPG’s but I’m relatively new to PC games as I have only played WOW and felt it lacking in an abundance of areas. As to wither or not many WoT fans play MMORPG’s I have met a few online and any I express my ideas to love it as do some people here in Dragonmount. I believe there is a massive market out the for WoT and if the game is made even half decently it will crush most of its opposition and draw avid MMORPGers to it, widening the people Wheel of Time touches and inspires and at the end of the day that is what we all want.
  23. Lopar you have taken the words straight out of my mouth. The possibilities are endless. The great thing about a Wheel of time MMORPG would be its world is so complete and realistic and very familiar to us. WOW and other games surfer from not having a cohesive world and also having very minimal if any plot lines. The one thing I do not like is the limited amount of classes and races in present games. As you said you could be Aes Sedai, Warder, Asha’man, Two Rivers Archer, Trolloc, Myrddraal, darkfriend, etc. The base model of most characters could be the same but then you evolve into a class, for instance a Male from White Bridge could go train in the Two Rivers under Perrin, join the dragonsworn, the Queens Guard, the White Tower to train to be a Warder (you could be Bonded by your friends and have unique “bonded†quests), or you could do all of these things and STILL be a darkfriend. It would be absolutely awesome and I don’t even think it would degrade the books themselves as it would be an interactive adaptation of the story, a story you created yourself depending on class and race, encouraging people that haven’t read the books to go and explore the back bone of the Wheel of Time. I just wish this could be produced by Blizzard (for example), in conjunction with RJ himself or even a select group of very dedicated fans. I know literally hundreds of people that would jump at the chance to be involved in the creation of something like this (for free! just to have there name on the credits) But alas. If anyone with influence or knowledge on the legal arrangements for tWoT games please post something here and shed some light, cheers. Kilika
  24. Has anyone ever thought that there should be a World of War Craft type role playing game? The possibilities would be endless and Blizzard have shown a great example of the quality of game they can produce. What Wheel of Time fan has never thought about and dreamed of being able to wander around in Randland, discovering sa'angreal, fighting against warders, being in control of a Seachan damane. If there is anyone out there that knows the legal situation on other Wheel of Time games being made, and also anyone with influence that could see my dream and I believe many others dream become reality, please comment here and lets try and get the ball rolling. Thank you for reading this. Regards, Fraser Sim. [/b]
