  1. Have we had a confirmation about Min's viewing of Perrin regarding trees blossoming? Like whether it's been fulfilled yet or not?

I'm re reading tSR right now and wondering if it could have had to do with the trees his family is buried under.  If not the only other thing I could think of is some collateral effect from Rand being one with the land.  Short of confirmation of it being fulfilled or not, I kind of lean towards the former.

  2. Okay, at the point where I am in book 4.

WHAT exactly is Fain? I know he's like an unholy cocktail of the evil of Shadar Logoth and a Darkfriend touched by the Dark One, but what is he actually capable of at this point?

He nailed a fade to a door. Did he overpower the Fade or was it just too afraid to do anything?

He also got the Black Wind to listen to him. How?

According to Moiraine's discussions with him near the end of tEotW he was also touched by the Black Wind as well, so since he has survived the manipulations and absorptions of some of the greatest evils I would assume that he can gain some kind of influence over the Black Wind as well.

  3. Question: Everyone hates on Hinderstap. Why? Is it purely the WTF, left-field, never-to-be-seen-again element to the whole thing? Or is it a certain resemblance to the Zed word?

Personally, I found those pages, as the sun went down, to be a fine, almost poetic counterpoint to the night in Tar Valon in TDR, when Mat is assaulted by "footpads".

I loved the slow build of: something's wrong; no, something's really wrong; stop it, Mat, pay attention, something's REALLY wrong; MAT YOU FREAKING IDIOT GET OUT OF THERE!

I think that most of the dislike comes from the fact it had pretty much nothing to do with anything. The plot advancement (what little there is) could have been done in a more realistic (for the Wheel of Time, anyway) and relevant manner.

Personally I didn't hate it, it was fun enough to read, just not much point in it.

True, no necessity to it and although the evidence is clear already, I think it was a pretty intense way of describing just how much influence the dark one is gaining over the world. The seals aren't fully broken yet and he is able to affect it this much already, that is pretty signifant.

  4. No, Mat told Moiraine the news of Morgase's "death" the previous day before the battle with Lanfear at the docks of Cairhien

ah okay, so really moiraine smiling is because she probably knows mats brain got all swiss cheesy and he doesnt necesarrily remember everything

I think that the main reason for the smile was that, of all things, she could hardly have forgotten Mat telling her about Morgase.

Since the first day I reached Rhuidean, I have known – it need not trouble you how, some secrets belong to others, and I will not betray them – that a day would come in Cairhien when news would arrive of Morgase. I did not know what that would be – if what we heard is true, the Light have mercy on her soul; she was willful and stubborn, with the temper of a lioness at times, but for all that a true, good and gracious queen – but each time that news led to the docks on the following day. There were three branches from the docks, but if you are reading this, I am gone, and so is Lanfear...

He told her in "News Comes to Cairhien". It was a pretty big deal.

gotcha, i wonder if the smile too is that she is aware that in it being a lifetime ago, how drastically different her life has become since, or will be, perhaps that knowing that of the way things could have gone, they have gone well

  5. No, Mat told Moiraine the news of Morgase's "death" the previous day before the battle with Lanfear at the docks of Cairhien

ah okay, so really moiraine smiling is because she probably knows mats brain got all swiss cheesy and he doesnt necesarrily remember everything

edit: and she probably recognizes that no one is the same as when she left, there has been a lot of growing up

  6. what was goin on here? what did moiraine mean by this? wasnt she gone already?

"I'd say that's a certainty," Mat added. "Anyways, Rand's been busy. Elayne says he's got some kind of meeting arranged with the monarchs under him coming up soon."

    "Elayne is Queen, then?"

"Sure is. Her mother was killed by Rahvin," Mat said.

    "So you told me."

[4:28:24 PM] Jon-Michael Santos: "I'd say that's a certainty," Mat added. "Anyways, Rand's been busy. Elayne says he's got some kind of meeting arranged with the monarchs under him coming up soon."

    "Elayne is Queen, then?"

"Sure is. Her mother was killed by Rahvin," Mat said.

    "So you told me."

    "I did? When?"

"A lifetime ago, Matrim," she replied, smiling.

"Oh. Well, Rand finished him off. So that's good."

"And the other forsaken?" Moiraine asked.

    "Don't know," Mat said.

"A lifetime ago, Matrim," she replied, smiling.

"Oh. Well, Rand finished him off. So that's good."

"And the other forsaken?" Moiraine asked.

    "Don't know," Mat said.

  7. ive got a question. when in the AoL they bored through and found the GLotD, like how deep did they bore? was it shallow or all the way? and if it was all the way then why doesnt he come out of his "prison"? to me it sounds more like a window than a door, if that makes sense...maybe since he exists outside the pattern he cant really be where the pattern exists, but can influence it much more? this is why i think we will hear the great lord, but we will never actually see him, or even have a major showdown, i know rand plans to annihilate him, but would that be possible from another plane? the karaethon cycle at the beginning of tGH says "Yet one shall be born to face the Shadow, born once more as he was born before and shall be born again, time without end." so, a bad translation? a prophecy that wont be fulfilled? or true? guess thats a few questions lol

  8. just made an account a couple minutes ago...been loving reading everyone's interesting ideas and Despothera's awesome theory blog, and this recent one gave me an epiphany i had to share...what if the seal Taim gave Rand was marked with a tracker similar to the coin Moiraine gave him so the Shadow could find the other seals or ambush him? just a thought, could play it out well if its true and it would make sense for it to be a real seal rather than a fake, which i dont think it would be fake. Thanks for the great site guys!!
