  1. The Philly signing was Awesome, I am waiting for the 'official' post to put my full comments in.  I have over an hour of video of the 'talk' session loading to Youtube, I'll post that too...

So how as the reception at the Philly signing? I really should have went but sadly was not feeling the greatest. I only live right across the bridge in NJ so it would have been easy for me to get there. Thanks for sharing too!

  2. I registered just to reply to "Damer Flinn".

I registered just to reply to "Damer Flinn".

The vast majority felt that Sanderson did a great job.  It is fine if you disagree, but saying things like "no doubt" and "debacle" makes it clear that you feel that your opinion is fact.  It's not, and your opinion is the minority.

In regard to the "big epic last battle", that was not the norm for Sanderson.  He had to get help from tactitions and Team Jordan since he had never had to focus on war so strongly.  The notes left for Sanderson called for a lengthy battle, and if anything, he was held back by having to match up with the epilogue.  The epilogue that Jordan wrote!  Ending with Jordan's words made it impossible to give better closure.

If you wanted a better ending, Sanderson would have had to deviate from what Jordan wanted.  The blame is not on Sanderson.

Regardless I loved the book, but I did feel that the battle scenes could have been cut down somewhat.

And if you are going to reveal your teenage-level fanboyism, at least spell the name correctly.  It is Drizzt.

To me I think our friend Damer forgets the purpose of reading: immersing ourselves in a book which nothing is to be decided by us, but by the writer and understanding why he chose to write how he writes. How WE want the book to end is, to me, not the correct way, but rather understanding how the WRITER ends the book.

And for him to not like the ending is respectable but since Brandon was doing what Robert wanted, it is only up to the reader to have enjoy his path. I am almost done the book 755 pages, and I will enjoy it no matter what!

  3. Ok will I I will either call in to the library or just go really early even though I do have the book already. I would love to talk to others about the book and hey oddly enough at the coffee shop I go to, today I met a fellow Wheel of Time reader! Yes! :D

  4. For once in life, Philadelphia has something special coming! I mean I live over the bridge in a cozy NJ town, but I am glad to know I can plan to go!

I have been waiting patiently and I am ever excited to conclude this epic series. And then maybe a proper encyclopedia we can look forward too!

  5. I do admire simplicity but personally I do love the artwork of the covers. It just sparks imagination and for me, musical creativity. When I saw the new cover art I felt compelled to write a song, aptly named, The Dragon Reborn.

Plus white hurts my eyes too much! :D

Sorry Damer to be rude but if you pull up the image cover, you can zoom in and see the jewel.

Sorry for not being more detailed with my post. The fact that Moiraine is one of the two woman on the cover is not in question here. I know that she will be there. So, for me arguing about whether you can see the jewel on her forehead in the picture is pointless, because we know it is her. What I was really getting at, is that the other woman is in fact in question. We have no ideal who she is, and if there is something on HER forehead in the pic, it is not clear enough to tell what it is, if in fact it is anything.

That is my error in jumping the gun. I apologize!

Most probably it is Moiraine and Nynaeve ( as it is clearly depicted through the jewel and by the red dot on the forehead).

I wonder on the women being present in the scene, as to the purpose of them. do they form the circle with the callandor in rand's hand?

Where do you people keep seeing "the jewel and red dot on the forehead"? I have perfect vision, and I keep looking and I don't see anything. There maybe something there, but you cannot for sure, without a doubt say that that is what is on the cover. It just isn't clear enough to say for sure.

I hate to ask if you have read all the books to this point but I hope you have. No feeling is what Rand embodies in his path to the Last Battle. And for me this gives me more inspiration for my almost complete death metal Wheel Of Time Album. And of course this is my opinion my friend!

Yes i have read them all to this point and reread/listened too them all multiple times. I would say that Rand "tries" to embody no feeling but he has never really achieved it. He has always had a small part of him that feels and it always comes out even if only to hmself in his head. I like the Death Metal WoT album idea. it fits.

I did not want to sound offense so I am glad for your response.

I am proud of this one truly.

  9. IMO it looks fake. And by that I mean it doesn't feel like the WoT to me. It looks like 3 people in a cavern with no feeling. My least favorite cover by far. I don’t say this for loyalty for Sweet. His covers may not have been the most appealing of styles but when i saw them all I could see is the feeling and mood of the book. This looks like one of my wife’s romance novels with no feeling.

    Just my opinion.
